How many of you here had a Rubiks cube, or snake when you were younger? I had several, even the mini-keychain cube. To start this thread i went and did a search, and found www.rubiks.com. This has everything, the history, a forum, a shop. I am quite amazed by how much is there and the types of cubes that have been coming out since. Rubiks cubes were like yo-yo's, computer games or swap cards to us at the time. They were all part of a growing up phase we went through. We used to have competitions where we would go home and bring our cubes back to school to see who could complete the puzzle first. We were smart then, if we gave up we would either peel the stickers off or prise the cube apart with screwdrivers and put it back together. The problems with this were if you kept peeling the stickers off then the stickers would eventually fall off on their own. Also when you used a screwdriver to prise the cube apart more often than not you would break the join pieces. Another problem was that the cube could get so loose that it would literally fall apart. If the cube ever became that stiff that you couldn't move it, you would put salt in the joins to losen it. Yep we thought we were really smart back then.
