Police have shut down the I-190 in both directions from Amherst to Niagara Street in Buffalo. A man is standing next to his car with a gun pointed at his head.

2 On Your Side's Josh Boose is on the scene. He reports police officers have guns drawn on the vehicle. They are standing about 20 feet away from the man. Other officers are directing traffic onto side streets.

The driver walked out of his vehicle and is now standing on the I-190 with a gun pointed at his head.

Buffalo Police spokesperson, Mike DeGeorge says the people in the car are a couple from out of town. He believes they are involved in a domestic dispute.

Gordon Reed is a driver who was stuck in traffic on the I-190. Over the phone, he told us police are telling drivers to leave thier cars and move away from the scene.

Just about five minutes ago they captured the man. I've been watching the coverage. Man, I wouldn't want the job of being a negotiator. I'm so glad it ended peacefully.

Yeah, the guy is now getting evaluated at a local hospital. I guess he is originally from this area but lives in Florida now. He was seen beating up his girlfriend before the stand off started.

I'm so glad things didn't turn ugly. In 1995, in Alexandria, Louisiana, a man took his life on live television. It was scary to be watching that day. Thank goodness I made myself turn off the t.v. just before he shot himself.
