View Full Version : E-Bay is nerve racking
djdaffy1227 2-27-08, 01:18 PM I have a bid on a Prince record that is one of my top 2 wants. Right now I am winning with less than 2 hours to go. I can't go any higher on my high bid either. I'm so nervous that the other person who bid on this, is going to get it at the last minute..........I know, I know :violin:
The other record I want is on E-bay right now too but the guy is asking a super ridiculous price for it, about double what it is worth. I think I'll wait on that one...
BrandyBlue 2-27-08, 02:21 PM If you can be there in the last 60 seconds of the auction, you might be able to swoop it with just pennies over. I know you said you can't go any higher on it, but if you could go no more than one more dollar, that might secure it.
Good luck to you , hope you get it! Could we have a link to it so we can see it?

NO! You'll swoop in and buy it from me
Just kidding:

Look at that beautiful record! In the orginal sleeve, with the WB Burbank label. It was the very first Prince 12" promo released in the US. It was for his second single "Just as long as we're together" with his first single "Soft and wet" on the B-side!

I would swoop it to help you get it ;)
That is gorgeous!
djdaffy1227 2-27-08, 03:01 PM Dammit, last minute outbid.....I hate E-Bay
This kind of thing happens to me ALL THE TIME on Ebay. Which is why I stopped bidding on items.
Glenn Gulia 2-27-08, 06:12 PM You have to wait to the last second to bid.:)
I do some bidding on Ebay UK. Manage to do ok there.
Awww that sucks Daffy, sorry to hear that :(

Same here. My friend uses something like an auto bid. It is unfair but he does get the items he wants. Ebay sucks anymore. Most items are over priced or the shipping is outrageous.
I tried selling once. Never again!! They charge you for everything. I forgot to put a reserve on a brand new F.R.Tripler wool coat and ended up selling it for $1 plus $25 s & h. The coat is worth way more then that. So I did not ship it out.:D I am sure I got some bad comment but so what. :p
Sorry you lost the Prince album, DJ.

Absolutely. Get yourself set up with Auction Sniper. I use it for everything but mainly because I forget to bid.

That's why I Sell on Craigslist!
djdaffy1227 2-28-08, 08:04 AM The unfortunate thing is, I bid as high as I was willing to go, I wouldn't have been able to bid higher. I know how to get another copy of this record for half the price but it has the stamp of some DJ on the label. I was also offered one on a Prince message board but the seller didn't have the original sleeve. It sucks being a collector
Iluvthe80s 2-28-08, 06:07 PM I hate when someone outbids you at the last second. I've lost numerous things that way.
That's why I Sell on Craigslist!

Despite the negative press Craigslist recieves (Due in large part to it's "personals" sections, which I never use), I used it to sell my toyota truck, it's all free too...and I sold the truck in like 3 or 4 days after posting the ad.
Unlike Ebay though, you set the price and have the option of (as I did) having people Email you for information, or call you (Both Email and Phone or only available if a user clicks a link on the ad, it's not publicly displayed unless you specifically give it the option to do so.)
I have never bid or sold on ebay. I haven't ever seen Craigslist, but I did hear something bad about it a couple weeks ago....wife hiring a hitman, I think. Like you do that online. Dumbass.
