View Full Version : Margaret Cho
Trixter 12-02-01, 10:46 PM Is there anyone else out there that finds this woman HILARIOUS!!?? She is a child of the 80's and speaks of it fondly in her stand-up routine. You can catch a repeat now and then of Comedy Central's "A Pair Of Jokers", she is in the second act. Margaret also has a new dvd/video out of her newest routine called, "I'm The One That I Want", it is equally entertaining and side-splitting!! I love this woman!!
She's incredible! I love the part when she talked about the producers of her shwo calling her "zoftig".
She was just on "Sex In The City" last week also. She's been through alot with her weight and drugs & alcohol, but she survived. A great talent.
She's one of my favorites. I watched her stand-up routine on Comedy Central in the 90's. I liked when she'd talk about her mother calling her and her brother real loud outside the window to go to the store.
"KIDS!! Let's go to Mont-gom-ery Ward!!"
(you had to hear it in her accent)
Trixter 12-02-01, 11:04 PM Oh, I'm glad to know that others find Magaret funny! She has been through a lot, did any of you watch her sitcom, "All American Girl"? It was pretty good, but plagued with too many revampings.
She is hysterical. I really loved her routines. I also liked to see stand up by Judy Tenuta, Rita Rudner, and Elayne Boosler. Elayne being my favorite.
"LIVE, NUDE girls. So much better than those dead, nude girls we saw last week."
Iluvthe80s 12-02-01, 11:31 PM I have seen her on Comedy Central and she is hilarious!

I know I saw a Margaret Cho show a few years back, and I was impressed with her. I don't really pay a lot of attention to their names. I think Judy Tenuta is the one who wears the funny clothes and has a screechy voice? If so, she's funny!
Judy Tenuta is the one who plays the accordion. Her catchphrase is "It could happen."

She's another of my favorites....
"I was dating the Pope for awhile....I was using him to get to God!"
"He tried to possess me, no....." :D
Judy Tenuda the goddess of love ..ahhhh...you men are all pigs. This woman makes me laugh so hard my sides hurt.
I love Margaret Cho - her routine around her mother is hilarious.
I love Rita Rudner she's so polite and subtle but so witty :) Anyone care for a mint?
Another stand up comedianne I like is the one that will make a comment and then drag the sentence on with I was seeing this guy(my probation officer) and I said.... its like SNL Kevin Neelan's sublimnial messages but she is way better at it... (black hair, shoulder length, petite and funny as hell :) )
Jazzmyn 12-03-01, 05:39 AM I love Margaret Cho!! She is so great. Haven't seen anything by her in a while though. Love her jokes about growing up in the 80's. :)
Trixter 12-03-01, 09:21 AM I think Margaret will have another tour next year doing her stand-up. I'm gonna try and catch her live.
I also like Brett Butler from the show 'Grace Under Fire'. Brett is funny and her Showtime special "The Child Ain't Right", what a riot. If you haven't seen it, check it out, it should be in video stores or for sale.

I know you who're referring to, Zel. (thought I was the only one who thought she was hilarious.) I can't remember her name. It's been awhile. She did a funny routine like that about almost hitting a house on wheels.
I like Monica..(something) I don't know if she's still doing stand-up. She'd say "Has anyone else done this before......?" (then a voice (hers) supposedly in the distance, "No Monica, just you."
Margaret Cho is sorta funny, IMHO Judy Tenuta is not in the least. IMHO, again! ;)
Sorry... :D
Rita Rudner cracks me up. I also liked Ellen Degeneres(sp?). I find men comics funnier than women. But TMO!! ;)

I like the funny men too. Sinbad is one of my absolute favorites. He is totally hilarious.
