Back in 1989 Victory enjoyed moderate success in the states with their album Culture Killed the Native, an album of slick commercial metal German style. “Fuel to the Fire” is a best of compilation but with a twist, the songs have been redone and rearranged and up graded with the modern guitar sound of today. On a few of the songs they rearranged the chorus lines and tweaked the melodies abit, but not to worry they did not destroy the nature, feel or sprit of the songs like Motley Crue did when the remade “shout at the devil” and flushed that classic down the toilet. If I have any criticisms about this album it would be the poor choice of song selection, there should have been more from the “Culture killed the native” album, “I’m a Survivor” a favorite song of mine was absent from this compilation along with several other good songs that come to mind. However to my dismay the worst song they ever did was “check’s in the mail” found its way onto this CD, for crying out loud why? All n’ all a great album though for those that have a more narrow vision of what metal should be probably will not be won over on this genre but will probably respect the album a little for its enthusiastic effort and energy of the band.
