Beatles member George Harrison died yesterday. Strange how the "immortal" icons slowly but surely passes away. :(

I just heard it on the television.
I heard he was the one to show John Lennon to play the guitar.
It was sad to hear about his life and to see someone so talented die with cancer.
I am glad he did come back to the Beetles to finish up the last cd I think it was called
Beetles Anthology? Excuse me if I am wrong.

The Quiet Beatle is now truly quiet....

My keyboard player will be devastated...he worships the Beatles. Once again...one of their most famous lyrics arises....

"I heard the news today, oh boy....."

He was also the youngest of the group.
Now there are only two left.

Very sad news, indeed. :( I knew that his condition was grave, but it was still a surprise to hear that he had died. He will be missed.

I remember his song "Set On You" from 1987.
Sad the Beatles are dying. :(

Savicki.. I was just singing that song in my head last night, too... He will be missed :(
I truly enjoyed his music with The Beatles but I really liked his solo projects most..

I heard it on Channel One News this morning at school. I was completely shocked. I was not aware that he had cancer. The world has lost another great talent. :(

It's sad about George Harrison. "I've Got My Mind Set On You" was a personal fave. Besides that, he produced some good movies as well (like a few of the Monty Python films, for example). Either way, farewell, George.

And then there were two. :(

Sincerely,

John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

Did he produce Monty Python's "Meaning of Life"?

I knew he was ill.. George went through hell the last few years of his life I remember ,I think it was last year an intruder broke into his house and stabbed him!
Then the cancer thing came into light.
That just sad.
I am sadden in the fact that hes gone but am happy in the fact that hes in a better place and is not suffering anymore.
What the Beatles did in their short time together changed the world and the like will
never happend again.
Geogre wrote this one (one of my favorites)I think it fitting to end this post with a quote:

I look at you all see the love there thats sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps...

Truly a bum thing to hear as I arose this morning. :(

Talent like that is hard to find these days and I hate to see it move on.

May peace be with you George.

What a sad day in music history!! The world really needed the remaining Beatles to 'come together' again, now that is impossible. :( :( :(

A very sad day indeed. George had brought nothing but happiness to people's lives all around the world, so what happens? Some nut tried to stab him to death 2 years ago.

That certainly wouldn't have helped aid his recovery from his first bout of Cancer...

He was a great musician, In the 80's I bought his singles 'When We Was Fab' and 'Got My Mind Set On You'.

What's the betting on a re-release of 'My Sweet Lord' for Xmas? Especially pertinent considering what kind of a year it has been for us all. :(

At first, I was a bit cautious, since there was a hoax on the loose that he died not too long ago. Sad that it had finally became reality.

Another great personality gone. But he will live on in our memories, and the music is immortal.

I'm glad he gave us great songs like this to cheer up our days.

Little darling,
It's been a long, cold, lonely winter
Little darling it feels like years since it's been here.
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
and I say, It's alright.

This is truly a sad day! :(
They've been playing Beatles songs on and off all day here and are having a 1hour tribute to him tonight on musicMAX. Probably and all day one on sometime this week also.

Man, too many legends died this year. We had 2 here in Australia in the space of a week! :( *Bye Shirl and Ted* We miss you still!!

Not good! :( At least we still have the wonderful music to remember him by and the others! :)

I remember George saying in an interview once something to the effect that he wasn't afraid of dying for one reason. He said that he had been searching his whole life for God and hadn't found him yet, so he hoped he would in death.

I hope you found him, George. Bless you for the magic you brought into this world.

I was really saddened to hear this yesterday. It was horrible when the news announced his death last year and were wrong - that must have been horrible for his family and friends and to hear it all over again and for it be true is so sad.

Tinajo I was singing the song too - amazing how music can link us across the miles.

Thanks for the music that changed RnR history forever George.

Such a shame he died so young :(

I watched Headliners & Legends last night about him and never knew this, his film company made "Shanghai Surprise" the movie that Madonna & Sean Penn stared in.

What other movies has he made? I was surprised about Monty Python which I love. :)

Oh yeah, I forgot they mentioned Monty Python to, my brain doesn't work so well lately *lol*

I don't know Zel, to bad I didn't record the show so I could go back and get the film Co name and do some research on it.

I am shelfing the Christmas spotlight Wednesday to put George in the spotlight. I have one solo hit, one Traveling Wilbury hit, one Beatle hit and one song he wrote for Ringo Starr. I am very sadden :(

On a side note the lead singer of La Bouche recently died as well in a plane crash in Switzerland :(

Zel

I loved the Travelling Wilburys. Sad that there are only two Beattles left and only two Wilburys :(

I'm looking forward to your show DJ :)

On a brighter note Zel, there are three Wilbury's left. Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty :)

Zel

I thought Roy Orbison was in the Wilburys

Recker

Yes Zel, the Big O was in the Wilburys.

Only 2 Wilburys left? I must be a bit out of touch here, but Jeff Lynne is still alive isn't he?

If anyone has plans to go see "Vanilla Sky" with Tom Cruise watch out for the moment where Tom's character "pays tribute" to George in that film....At one point in the film he says: I always liked George. The preview screening took place on the same day that George's death was announced and the audience gasped. Cameron Crowe has decided to keep it in there....
