View Full Version : Favourite 80s ride?
Silveradocruiser 2-21-01, 04:08 PM In the Knight Rider topic, we all agreed that the car (Kit) was soooo cool!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00shades.gif That wasn't the only cool car in the 80s, was it?
What car brings out Your special memories? I know You all can't be car-freaks like me, but some of You probably arehttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif
Even if You aren't You may still have some "car-memories"http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif You know, like that special kiss or something...http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//blush.gif
Let's face it: cars are a big part of our lives when we're young! It's the symbol of freedom, right?
As a total car-freak I have many favourites, but my best memories are from riding in my aunts Porsche 911 convertiblehttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif Those were the days...
I decided back then in 82-83 that I would by my own Porsche some day. Well, that day hasn't arrived yet, but over the years I've had many other great carshttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00shades.gif
OK! Which car takes You on a ride down "memory lane"

Sal Collaziano 2-21-01, 07:19 PM Well, my first car came about the same time as my first real girlfriend! That was a 1970 Chevy Nova. I loved that car. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif But my best memories come with a 1988 White Pontiac Firebird Formula and then a 1990 White Pontiac Trans Am! Those were the days.. Many great memories in these cars. The last two were real cool lookin' too! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif Oh, and fast! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

The loneliness just fades away

My favorite ride in the 80's is still my favorite ride today....my '73 340 'Cuda 4-speed. Bored out, built up, and with enough torque to pull out tree stumps. She runs low 13's in the 1/4 mile, high 12's on a good day. And she looks pretty good too!
Peace.

Silveradocruiser 2-21-01, 07:58 PM Chevy Nova huh! A blue one,of course, like in Beverly Hills Cophttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif We don't have many of those here in Sweden...
Pontiacs on the other hand we have a lot of!
Beautiful cars! My friend had a Camaro (Trans Am and Camaro are like what? First cousins?) that was fast too! He got busted by cops all the timehttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//hammer.gif
My problem is that I get so attached to my cars, that I don't have the heart to sell themhttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00buaaah.gif At the moment I own five carshttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

The first car I owned was a brand new 1971 lime green Chevy Nova which was a nice car, and then in 1974 I bought a brand new... (now don't laugh too hard) Gremlin X, I loved that car. It had a 304 2 barrel in it. I lifted the back, and added G-60 tires in the rear with Crager mags all around.
I only kept that car for two years before trading it in on a brand new '76 Chevy Blazer, added a push bar, tow hooks, big tires w/white spoked mags. Those were my favorites in those days.
Today, I buy mostly used cars...non of them in resent years have been a favorite!

Good luck getting the 'Vette Sal...more trouble than they're worth! Hey guys, did the picture I posted of my car show up? I can't see it on my screen, nor can I see any of the other pix I've posted in different threads. Is it just me or is it messed up?
Silveradocruiser 2-23-01, 07:48 AM I can't se any pics either, Pagan!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00sad.gif
Nice Eldorado,Sal!
Sarg! I'm not laughing, Gremlin X is a cool car.http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00shades.gif Strange, but cool! Ordinary cars are boring -right?
OK, 5 cars may sound a lot, but actually the Chevy truck was the most expensive one. I use that in my company, so it's tax deductable!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif
The others are: a 1988 Mercedes, a 1985 Volvo (when in Sweden...) a 1975 Mercedes and a 1957 Ford Anglia!
The 'new' Mercedes and the Volvo are daily drivershttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif
At the moment I'm looking for a mid 90s Suburban... I Warned You!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//icon36.gifhttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//roll.gifhttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//GOOFY.gif

ReagansRenegade 2-24-01, 11:16 AM Well not counting the "car" in Automan or a Transformer- KARR is probably my favorite. Sure KITT looks cooler and isn't amoral but did KITT ever ram into and knock over a Big Boy because it was a "decoy" and not a real person like it pretended? That actually happened.
I remember one of the coolest memories I had was at the Philadelphia car show- they had the actor in Automan and KITT (with lights and all), although it was like the "touring" model and maybe not the one Michael Knight drove.
I remember it was on the show floor and people were gathered around it, but I was too petrified to approach it! Hey I was 18, give me a break.
So I was crying during much of the show, and didn't even get to touch the legendary TransAm, which from some reports was talking like the robot Sears & Robuck had that moved around "talking" to kids (an employee would be stationed behind a two-way mirror which is even cooler in a way), until some monster started trying to rip it's electronics out! Well it happened at the one I was in and I wasn't the monster in question.
Actually I was 5 when I went to the car show.
Magically days.
Silveradocruiser 2-25-01, 02:17 PM Eeeeh, why do I suddenly get the feeling that You WERE that monsterhttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//baby.gifhttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//DEVIL2.gif Renegade???http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif
OK! I know car shows can be traumatic experiences when You're a kid!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00buaaah.gif

ReagansRenegade 2-27-01, 08:57 AM Wow Hans you too!? And here I thought something was REALLY wrong with me. Well whats common is normal.
No really I wasn't the kid that did it. I was afraid of the robot, but I didn't want to see it destroyed. Much like Pagan.
Silveradocruiser 4-18-01, 08:16 AM Well, as the issue of vehicles came up, I wanted to get this topic back on top!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//hammer.gif
Man, did I have to go back, way back, back into time, to find this topic!!!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

Rock on Sal! I had a '74 Firebird with a 455 that I built. Got that car in '88. I also had a nice looking '84 T/A that looked good but wasn't that fast. Fun car though.
My 1986 Corvette that I haven't even started in about six months, glad this post came up so it would remind me:

Corvette's do require a lot of upkeep, like any other serious high performance car. I have gone all German for daily drivers.
Mine was my '71 Chevy Nova that I had in North Dakota. You know if you take the word NOVA each letter stood for each model that GM made for the X-body style ...
NOVA -- Chevy
Omega -- Oldsmobile
Ventura -- Pontiac
Apollo -- Buick
LOSTNTHE80S 9-09-04, 04:49 PM OMG-------------My fave 80's ride...His name was BRAD and man was he.......
OOops..sorry, was thinking that I was still over in the LL :mwaha:
