Sal Collaziano 1-24-01, 12:05 PM Pikachu. Okay, that's a cool name.. From Pokemon! Right? But Squirtle! What's that?! A cross between a Squirrel and a Turtle? http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif

morningmyst 1-24-01, 01:17 PM I believe that Squirtle is also a character from Pokemon. Cute birdies Tinajo.

morningmyst 1-24-01, 05:06 PM You have to remember, I have 2 children ages 6 and 9...prime age for Pokemon....That's the reason that I knew! LOL

Yeah.. they are both Pokemon names... Pikachu was named because my neices used to stay with me often and they would always talk about Pikachu... my bird just picked it up and started saying it all of the time... so he kinda recognized it as his name... and we got the green conure later, we figured we'd stay along with the Pokemon theme, and "Squirtle" is a green charachter who, yes Sal, is a cross between a squirrel and turtle... He's green and cute.. so that's why he is named Squirtle!! They are like kids... so you see... I don't need kids... I have birds!
I also have a 75 gallon saltwater aquarium with a gigantic Lionfish, an Emporer Angelfish, a dogfaced-puffer fish, a red-finned trigger fish, and a powder-brown tang.
I am getting ready to break the tank down, though.. we are buying a house and will be moving in a couple months.. and I don't feel like hauling the fish and a bunch of water to the new house, (we did that last time we moved and it was a big hassle)... so I will have new pet fish when I get settled in... (I will miss these guys though.. I have had them for 4 years)
I'm selling them back to the fish store and just buying new ones later.
So... anyone else have any pets to talk about?

I got a terrier mix dog that we got from the pound, her name is Spot (the kids named her).

Sal Collaziano 1-25-01, 01:03 AM Wait, about the fish. Why don't you just buy the same ones back? Or like, put them in little baggies or something? I dunno. There must be a way you could keep them without too much hassle..

Sal, since they are salt-water fish... they can't handle a great deal of stress, like a move http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//frown.gif
You have to save a very large portion of the water if you plan on keeping the fish (75 gallons of water is alot to move) last time, we did it in big 32 gallon rubbermaid trash bins... I sold them babk tonight and drained the tank... I'll just start from scratch... get new fish... my fish were getting big, and I am kind of wanting smaller non-aggressive ones anyway.
It takes about a month for the salinity (salt in the water), and the bacteria cultures to grow before you can put fish back into the tank upon start-up... so by then, my fish will be sold to new owners... but like I said, it's alright... I'll just restock!

I have a Black lab named Shadow. When I first got him he stuck to me just like a shadow so I figured why not call him that....plus he is pure black. He is 17 months old and full of p*ss. Since I don't have any children he is my baby.

Roemello, you have 2 cocketiels? I think they are so cute :smile2: Do they talk? Both of my birds are good talkers.. when we bought the parakeet (Pikachu) a few years ago, (for a starter bird), they told us that he wouldn't talk well or become very tame, but he is the best bird! He talks up a storm.. imitates every sound from the microwave to the telephone.. whistles songs and tells our other bird, "Good Boy Squirtle" after Squirtle goes "potty"... The conure (Squirtle) is potty trained so that when he is out of the cage we don't get "messes" anywhere on the furniture... about every 20-30 minutes (more often if he's excited and rowdy), I'll put him down on "his" towel and tell him to "go potty", and he backs up and does his thing... and hops right back up into your lap. He's not a great talker yet.. He says the usual things, like "Hi" and "How are you?" but it's the little bird that does all of the talking! Its so funny! I have to tell this really quick... one day I was trying to put a harness on Squirtle so that he could go to the park with me (his wings are clipped but I'm not taking any chances that he could get away from me outside).. Squirtle was being a brat and fussing with me, and Pikachu was saying "Good Boy, Squirtle!", and I told Pika.. "No, Pika, Squirtle's being bad" and Pikachu kinda sat there thinking for a moment and then said "Good Boy, Pikachu!" I laughed for quite a while! He thought it was funny too!
If you get any pics of your birds... post them!!
I'd love to see them!

Roemello 1-26-01, 01:43 AM The eldest one (Reggie) talks. That bird is so smart it's just not natural http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif It's like an exact little birdie version of myself http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif Whenever I bring a girl to my house or if my sister comes to visit, he gives a wolf whistle and says, "yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaah" http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif (I say the elongated "yeah" quite a bit). It doesn't do much imitating...your parakeets sound like quite the entertaining duo though! Ok, back on subject...another escapade of Reggie...he found a friend of mine's cigarette on the couch and picked it up with it's beak as if it wanted to light up http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif I caught a perfect picture of that one. Then another time, it dialed the operator on the phone http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif He's an absolute nut...just like his owner http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif Pete doesn't do too much yet, although it does attempt to imitate Reggie from time to time...
I'll post a couple pics up as soon as I scan 'em and upload them to one of my servers...

Amy Livin 2-03-01, 07:32 PM My pet would eat up all of your pets!!!! Meet, the fearless, biggest giant house cat in the world: Sin!!!!
<IMG SRC="http://livinprayer.tripod.com/panther" border=0>
LOL, love that pic. Here's the real Sin
<IMG SRC="http://livinprayer.tripod.com/Sin" border=0>
I walked into the bathroom and there she was, had to take a pic.
My cat suits me well, she just like me, all black and gothic and all. And really affectionate. She needs a lot of attention, just like me. She LOVES talking and she absolutely adores men. But when you get her mad, she stares at you and it just freaks you out. A friend of mine doesn't want to come back to my place cause when he did Sin would just stare at him for hours.
