I am contemplating ditching my cell phone and going with Vonage, or some similar program for my phone needs. Anybody use these, or know somebody who has? Any recomendations?

Anybody use these, or know somebody who has? Any recomendations? TopCat 12-03-06, 04:45 AM My friend Greg has it. When we talk on the phone, it is clear and we never lose a connection. I believe the price per month is about $30. There may be set up fees for the box. But I think if you are a new user, you can get them for free. He seems very happy with it. :) You should check about using 911. Pretty sure that is different then normal. Not sure about the caller ID service either. His name appears a "vonage holder" when he calls. This may just be because he chose to not have caller id. It is not like your cell phone. You can't take it with you. It uses you cable internet as the connection line. So you have to have cable internet. As for long distance, that is all included in the monthly fee of $30. We used to talk for over 4 hours and his bill was always the same. I too am considering getting Vonage once my cell phone contract runs out. I like that with the cell, you can take it with you but the cost is getting more and more. Who ever gets it first, let the other know. That way one of us can get credit for inviting a new customer. :) Jasper 12-03-06, 11:06 AM I did some research and some comparative shopping, and found this service seems like a better deal. http://www.sunrocket.com/ Mr. Badd 12-03-06, 11:44 PM I had it for about a month, but had alot of trouble hearing people on the phone, and they had trouble hearing me. Maybe they've ironed out these bugs now? Sandy 12-05-06, 09:29 AM I have it an LOVE it .. I LOVE the savings ! I was paying like 60 bucks a month for phone service with out long distance and now I pay like 27 bucks and that includes long distance. I have had it for 2 yrs now..:thumb: The only thing you need to make sure you have is a GOOD quaility modem ! ;) That is VERY important to getting quaility service on VOI services. lost80s.com 12-05-06, 12:41 PM I use bbtelsys www.bbtelsys.com and I love them. They are much cheaper than Vonage. They have a plan you can sign up for that only costs $199 for a full year. That only comes out to about $16 a month. I have used the service for a year and a half and they let me purchase my second year on promotion for only $99 for the second year. I have all the features you could ever ask for and free long distance. Their customer service is top notch as well. I love them. Claybricks 12-09-06, 06:51 PM I was listening to the Clark Howard radio show a few days ago. Clark said that Vonage at $24.95 a month, is now considered the high side. $15 a month is now considered a good deal according to Clark (He uses Sunrocket). http://clarkhoward.com/ Dan JarHed 12-14-06, 01:55 PM Here's a review of "Sunrocket" from DSL Reports... http://www.dslreports.com/comment/2521/53022 ...and "Vonage" http://www.dslreports.com/comment/2410/58906 |
