Not withstanding, year round school which by the way i think SUCKS no matter how they package it.

Does school to you seem like it's startng earlier and earlier????

It used to be many moons ago, that it started after labor day.

The earlist i ever started was august twenty something and that was untill 1987 and started opening around the 18th or 19th.

Now my cousin is starting august 11,ths monday.

Ooh, Bad Blaziegirl!
They still go for 180 days, same as always. The main thing they have done is changed up the school holiday schedule. I seem to remember getting longer spring breaks and Christmas breaks. But, they get more breaks nowadays though. It all evens out in the end.
The thing I have noticed that is different is the amount of homework my kids bring home. I don't remember ever having homework in the first grade, my son had homework the first day of school last year! It would take us about an hour and a half every night to get all his homework done. Still, I'd rather they do homework than be getting into trouble.

Hey Blazie you and me are kinda in the same boat....I went to school, but was always in trouble. Detention was like a second home to me. BTW in school suspension sucks.

As for the question.....I remember going back to school after Labor day. Of course that was a LONG time ago.
I have been told that I am a dust farter.

My kids start the day after Labor Day, and the homework is just outrageous!!! We're talking at least an hour and a half every night. for both of them!!!

an hour and half homework for elementary school?! That's insane...I never had anywhere near that much. I don't think I even had that much in High School!

School starting in August? I've never had that displeasure either. To my knowledge, school has always started, and still starts, in September around here at all grade levels.

I'll tell you a funny story regarding homework.

In the 3rd grade,i got loaded up with a ton of homework so much so that my mom a former english teacher wrote a note to my teacher at school. My teacher, mrs randall being sweet as she could be and msinterpeting asked

"Michael(my real name) Is your mom mad??"

Which she wasn't

they later of course met and cleared everything.

The irony of all this is today is the one year aniversy of my mom's death.

Wow.
The bear 2000. That gave me a chill to read that. I am sorry to learn of your moms death last year, but glad that you hold her dear to your heart. I love that name, "Cecilia".

School is starting here on the 14th or so. It used to start the last week in August, but has been getting earlier through the years.
