or any other beauty professionals!

I'm looking for recs for a good volumizer that doesn't make my hair tacky when I spray it in and actually WORKS? I have tried Redken Guts, Matrix Air something, Umberto spray, etc but nothing seems to give me the lift I need. The back of my hair is short and spikey so I need lift at the crown and nothing seems to work. I've heard Kerastase Expanseur is good but very spendy but haven't found any other recs aside from that.

Could you suggest something?

Boy, do I miss the PM option! Now everyone gets to read about my hair issues! lol :rollin:

TC can't help you. She doesn't know anything. She makes her clients cut their own hair. She uses peroxide on their heads. I heard she set someone's hair on fire. I'd watch out if I were you!

Jilly, have you tried Amplify (http://www.matrix.com/products/amplify/)? Matrix makes it. Try their root lifter. How is it cut? How does the hair grow.... hair texture? All this can come into play when you are trying to get that spikey look in back. In oreder to get the lift you need to have the ends razored. Depending on your hair texture, either a lot or a little.
Wax's or pomades are nice. And if your hair is fine, try a wax/gel. Amplify makes this. So does Loreal Texture line. Apply them to damp hair or to dry for a more "dirty" feel. Neither are too heavy. You may need to adjust the amout you use.
Bed HEad makes an awesome product. I swear it is the best stuff. Small Talk. (http://www.tigihaircare.com/us/products/)
Hairsprays are important too. Fusion, Matrix Vavoom (http://www.matrix.com/products/vavoom/)and Volumax (http://www.haircareusa.com/volumax.htm) all work good. I like the Fusion best. Volumax can be bought at Sallys and the other tow in a salon. Fusion and Volumax , imo, are the better for hold. Fusion smells good. :thumb: I can't find any online info about Fusion. :(

You'd probably pay closer attention if you had some frickin' hair. :p

LMFAO, Val!!!! You hit that right on the nose! :rollin:

Thanks, TC, I really appreciate it. I have some texture in the back but think I need more. I am going to get it cut in about 15 minutes so will have her hack some more off to get it to work better.

I have very fine hair. You'd think it wouldn't take much to get it to stand up but it's really falling lately. I use Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play Harder hairspray and seem to like it but maybe I need something else. Which of the Vavoom's are best? All sounded like a freeze type spray and I hate the way those feel in my hair. I have the "Backtease in a Bottle" from Big Sexy and I hate the texture. And just WHERE was THIS stuff in the 80's anyway? lol

I've thought about the Amplify as well. Do you think it's better than Bedhead? I think I want to try the Small Talk. I love BedHeads products, they are my absolute fave!

To get it spikey, I use BedHead Manipulator and Bumble & Bumble's Sumo Tech Wax. I switch between the two. Wax and pomade doesn't give me the lift I need, at least the ones I've found. Those two are pretty good, tho.

If you don't mind the smell 2 egg whites and a little corn starch is a helluva lot cheaper than that store bought crap :1punkbang

I'm a product whore & I've spent a ridiculous amount of $$ on hair care products, but I think L'Oreal's "Uprise" volumizer is the best product I've found for getting that lift, without feeling sticky or weighed down. It lasts a long time even in humidity. And it's not expensive at all!! :thumb:

Okay, I went to the mall to return my Matrix Air Trix and came out with BedHead Small Talk and Queen for a Day so we'll see how they work tomorrow! Yay!

PG, if mine doesn't work, I'll try the one you suggested! Thanks!
