I think it almost killed me. I told my husband that I wished it would either kill me or go away, but it needed to be over one way or the other. And I meant it at the time.

I won't get into all the gory details, but I had to go to the ER Saturday evening because it had gotten so bad, and I felt worse when I left! They gave me a med for stomach cramping (thank you, Jeebus!), a med for nausea (which I told them I didn't have much of, and not too bad when I did), and a med for pain (which I rated low because I could have handled it with two Tylenol). They took 3 tubes of blood and ran a urine culture.

Then, Dr. Jekyll tells me I'll be fine to go to work Monday. And I went. And my husband was fuming. And they sent my happy ass home. Then today, I go back to work, and my boss says, "You don't look good!" I said, "Thank you." She laughed, and said I looked pale and tired. Like I said, honey, THANX!

It's bad enough you feel bad, you know you don't look wonderful, but people gotta tell ya just how bad you look.

Came to find out that a few people at work are having the same problems and a few of my neighbors and friends are battling this....

Anyone else notice any weird viruses making the rounds of their towns? School will be starting in less than a month, and you know all our kids will be home with some form of this crap.

This time of the year, stomach/intestinal disorders are very common due to the the elevated temperature of the natural bodies of water around here--giardia and other nasties (to include E.coli) grow more readily in the water and more and more people are swimming and contributing to the microbial colonies.

The Hell of it is, that the problem gets worse when people swim, but it gets hotter and hotter, so people contribute more germs. If people would rinse off/shower before and after they swim, it would cut it all down by a lot. Instead, they bring it home to others on moist skin, they bring germs to pools that aren't always taken care of like they should be, etc. NAAAAASSSSTTTYYYYYY!

I'm glad you feel better, Val, that is like DOUBLE Hell to go through when it's too damn hot to do anything and you spend more time trying to keep hydrated, only to have the illness sap your hydration.

I went through the same thing a couple weeks ago. I had a pounding headache, but was so nauseous that I couldn't even take aspirin. I lost 10 lbs in 4 days.

I had it baaaaaaad last night. I honestly thought I was going to E.R. I was up from about 1:30am until 5am. I have been better today though. Guess Im lucky that I didnt have it all day today too.
I agree, it has a lot to do with the elevated temps.

My poor little Val. Sooo sorry you had to go through that, sweetie. :barf: If it makes you feel any better, (and I know it won’t) I’m just getting over the worst of it and I’m all the frikin way up in Canada!!! They say THE GREAT PANDEMIC circled the globe in 9 months and that was long before air travel. Don’t worry, boo boo, it seems to last 3 to 5 days and then you’ll be fine. In the mean time, drink plenty of ginger ale, get lots of rest and have your hubby make you some chicken soup…it always makes me feel better.

Love,

Too bad you felt so awful. :( Glad you are feeling better! :rose:

I don't know what I had but last week while at work, my stomach was nauseous, I had a headache and was weak. Then on my days off I got this awful stomach burn. It was not in my stomach but outside of it. I was miserable. Then to top it off I got cramps. I almost went to the ER myself. :( I need to go to the Dr. but since I don't have any health insurance, I have to wait whatever ails me gets serious. I make too much to get any assistance for insurance but not enough to pay into it. :irked:

Thanks, guys! :ghug: I do feel better, just a little tired still. :) I would rather have had the flu, I tell you what!

I was just curious if this was the new thing going around or if it was just in this area. I guess it's just new to this area right now.

Since I asked for a few extra days off a few weeks ago, I was glad I picked this week.
