My Girlfriend recently purchased an I-pod and asked me to load some songs for her. However I cannot seem to figure out how to import my current files to the Ipod/I-tunes library from Windows Media Player.
Is this possible?
How do I do it?
I have checked the I-pod FAQ page, but it doesnt address it. I would hate to have to load all that stuff over again.
Thanks in advance for anybody who can help!

By default, Windows Media Player stores all music in the My Music folder. So....open Itunes and go: File> Add Folder to Library> select the My Music folder. By choosing Add Folder and selecting My Music, iTunes should import any Windows Media files currently stored in your My Music folder.
iTunes will prompt you to convert any WMA files before adding the files to your iTunes Library. ;)
I have tried that, but it blinks, closes the prompt window, and nothing is moved over.
When I first started using Itunes, I copied and pasted my entire library from Windows Media Player onto Itunes Library. That was the ONLY way I could do it. For some reason it didn't work when I tried importing them directly.

Well, I don't have an Ipod, but I do know that an Ipod doesn't read WMA files, so you made need to convert them to MP3 files. You might be able to find some freeware somewhere on the net to convert those files to MP3 files, that way they can be transferred onto the Ipod.

Brand1974 - Itunes takes care of converting them for ya. ;)
BTW, Ron - Make sure you are in the Library section when you attempt to do that. Then open the MyMusic (WMP) folder. Don't try adding them directly to the playlist folder. Then just drag and drop the tunes from the library onto your playlist. If you still have issues with it and there is an upgrade available for Itunes, I would upgrade.

was that song by song, or the entire list?
I can move them over one by one, but with nearly 2000 songs, thats a LOT of moving!

Ron - Just do Select All > Copy (MyMusic folder) and then File> Paste into the Itunes Library folder.
