Do you guys have that one day a year where the garbage trucks will pickup anything you set by the side of the road?

Mine is this week, the one week a year where everyone dumps all there garbage , old refrigerators, furniture whatever they want gone, if a tourist came to town he'd swear he was in downtown Baghdad with litter strewn about the street.

I noticed yesterday the a few local Donald Trump wantabe's having yard sales , figuring what we don't sell we just leave at the side of the road, I think it takes away from their bargaining position " I'll give you 35 cents for that old toilet seat" , I'll let it go for 50 cents"... umm no I'll come by tomorrow and take it from your trash for free.

then you get the hoards of people actually digging through your trash like you just tossed a way the Holy Grail. I don't like garbage, I don't like my own, let alone someone else's, there's a reason the original owner decided to part with there garbage, it's because it's crap. Even worse that the people digging through your garbage are the one's that are standing there watching you drag your shit out so when it hits the green zone or sidewalk they can take it, If you want my garbage by all means you can have it, but give me the decency of helping me lug out all the stuff. The guy across the road from me (Shirtless Willie Nelson is famous for that ) He even questions me about why I'm throwing it out, does it work?, I'm expecting him to ask me for a warranty or something

There's a Spring Cleanup in Steubenville, but I don't know what days it is. It's a different day for different parts of the city, I think. But there are people who go out and pick stuff up. I imagine to someone who's good at fixing gadgets or stereos or whatever, it's like looting without getting shot at.

We have specific days a year, but I also don't know when it is. If I have alot of 'junk' to get rid of, I just take it to the dump. We also have a spot off the side of the dump that's called Take It Or Leave It. If whatever I'm throwing away can benefit someone else ( furniture, clothes, bikes to be fixed up etc.) I leave it there. They always say that another mans' trash is another mans' treasure :)

I don't know if we have a spring cleanup here in Ferry. We did in another town I lived in.

Since we have moved in the new house, we have been getting rid of a lot of junk we had. We got a nice area down back that used to be a two car garage. What left is a brick wall and the gravel. It is a good place to stick the old junk we don't want and then we can call the garbage company and they will make a special trip to pick it up for a small fee. Last month a neighbor knocked on the door and asked if he could have my old computer desk top that was down there. Then one day we had thrown out a roll up bed/cot and within 2 hours it was gone. I don't mind people taking the junk meant for trash but what if we had set something there for someone to pick up and they assume it was trash?

They usually have a spring and a fall cleanup day here. Sometimes they will do an extra one, but that you have to haul whatever you want thrown away to a central location.

We have them here every 4 months or so.
I love to see people take things I'm throwing away. Some of it really surprises me. I do like to see it being used vs. filling up a landfill though. I'll even leave notes on certain things letting people know if it works or not or what's wrong with it. Sounds like me and Cals neighbor would hit it off.

Yerah we have em in Dublin once a year and its exactly like Cal described! But I always feel good after it because the garden or the house feels and looks cleaner
