View Full Version : A Mother's Rant at Christmas Time...
KimJoy69 12-06-05, 02:35 PM Ya know... sometimes it REALLY SUUUUUUUUCKS being a parent at Christmas time. :hissy:
My daughter wants only ONE thing for Christmas. ONE. And it's got to be the UGLIEST doll I've EVER seen. But she wants it SO bad. She's been talking about it for MONTHS. She found it on the internet and pulls that thing up EVERY SINGLE DAY just to gaze at it. She's been driving us NUTS talking about this doll NON-STOP. She thinks it's SO beautiful. She gets tears in her eyes when she looks at it because she thinks it's so beautiful and life-like.
So Mama tries be the HERO and save Christmas for her darling daughter (especially since I totally screwed up LAST year's choice of doll :irked: ). I ordered this doll on November 17th. I got a letter today that said:
Thank you for your order. We are eager to ship your doll to you, but we regret that the warm response to this delightful Premiere Edition has exceeded our expectations.
Even as I write, our dollmakers are hard at work, sculpting, painting, stitching, an detailing a perfect copy just for you. Perfection takes time; this time longer than we expected, but your individually signed and numbered doll should be ready for shipment as noted below.
JANUARY 23, 2006
:grrr: January 23rd???? JANUARY??!!!!http://joanongovernment.homestead.com/files/finger.gif
:argh: YOU...HAVE...GOT...TO...BE...KIDDING...ME!!!!! :dammit:
I can't believe it. *siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh* I am SO dreading that tearful, totally heartbroken, totally disappointed look on her face. http://joanongovernment.homestead.com/files/image003.gif
I've looked ALL over the net to try to find someone else that might be selling it, but have run into brick walls.
Son of a BIIIIIIIIIITCH.
80sTrivia 12-06-05, 03:12 PM Oh, no, Kim! What a disappointment to order what your daughter wants most for Christmas, only to have it not arrive in time! I hope "Santa" can find something equally wonderful for your daughter to open Christmas morning! :)
But then again, Kimmy has her knight in shining leather who will save her. :)
I told her that "Santa" will send Amanda a letter telling her that so many little girls wanted that doll, his elves couldn't possibly make them fast enough. However, she was SUCH a good girl this year that as soon as the elves make one for her, Santa will make an extra trip just for her in order to deliver it.
Then when it comes, Kimmy can wrap it and leave it in Amanda's room overnight with another note from Santa. ;)
*EDIT* Just realized I can send the letter to the North Pole, Alaska and they'll postmark it there, so she'll REALLY think Santa sent it. ;)
Miss INXS 12-06-05, 03:36 PM Awww that sucks, Kimmy!!! I can totally understand your frustration! :(
I think Alan's idea is pretty good though. I was going to suggest something very similar, but his idea sounds even better!
What type of doll is it? Name? Maybe I could do my own search and see if I could find one for ya. Let me know... ;)
SweetestJezebel 12-06-05, 04:17 PM Awww, Kimmy!! Fortunately, you have a great guy like Alan to save the day.
That is unfortunate, Kimmy. :( I love Pagan's idea!! He is a true friend.
I got a feeling this Christmas will be one she will remember forever. Even if she has to wait a few extra weeks. ;)
KimJoy69 12-06-05, 05:42 PM Here's the baby she wants:

"William"
And yes... Pagan IS the most wonderfulest friend, EVER. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y103/KimJoy69/love03.gif:D
Whoa! "William"?!? That's the doll she wants?
He looks like he just popped out!

William really does look like a newborn who is just minutes old.
Sorry to hear of your dilema, Kim. Pagan WILL save the day, and your little girl will appreciate William just as much in January as in December. Don't dread the disappointed look on her face, anticipate the look of surprise and joy she will have on her face when she finally holds William in her arms. :thumb:

Great Idea Pagan!!! There IS A North Pole Alaska (Located about 10 miles southeast of Fairbanks). They even have a "Santa Claus house" there. My mom has pics of it...I'll try and scan a copy of it sometime. (Lived in Fairbanks when I was a kid for a few years).
Being as Close To Christmas as it is, I wouldn't be so sure about mailing it Via North Pole Alaska...It may not get to Florida in time. I would go with your initial idea and mail it to Kimmy directly. Address the envelope to Kimmy so Amanda will not suspect a thing. Then let Kimmy place the letter (Sans envelope) somewhere strategic where Amanda would be likely to find it on Christmas Eve. This way, She gets the letter as if Santa left it for her on his stop there.
bookmistres4ever 12-07-05, 01:25 AM Well...according to this page - http://santaclaus.itgo.com/santasample01.htm - as long as they get it sent out by Dec. 15th, it's probably gonna get there on time. Plus they do special requests, so here's wishing you good luck.
Checking on e-bay which I'm sure you've already done, lists a couple, but then I don't know if you want to deal with auctions which can get pricey REAL fast.
This one ends in 3 days and right now is $20 plus $15 shipping

Kimmy, I'm so sorry you couldn't get the doll on time :(
I LOVE Pagan's idea!! I think Amanda will totally understand once she reads Santa's letter ;) That in itself will be exciting for her :)

I think we can safely say that Pagan is added to the list of class acts! I can just see the look on Amanda's face when she gets that letter from Santa. :thumb:
Pagan, Here are a few links you might find useful:

Here is a recent picture of Santa Claus house:

Looks about the same as it did in 1976
KimJoy69 12-07-05, 11:06 AM :ghug: OMG... you guys are ALL so wonderful! I'm stressing SO hard about this & you guys are all making this so much better!!
Dear God, that thing is ugly. Does she collect those things? Well, beauty is in the eye of the beerholder...uh...I mean beholder.
I hope you can find one before Christmas. :( If not, Pagan's letter from Santa might keep her from spazzing out and not enjoying her other things. The 'elves can't keep up' idea seems pretty solid. :)
OMG! You guys! William is positively gorgeous compared to this one: http://www.paradisegalleries.com/product.asp?label=product&pf%5Fid=L10634B1&name=Courtney&mscssid=PKC9BHD5HAPC9G5SA8HBE6SVMPPR417D
Dear God, that thing is ugly.
Kim and I have been saying that since she first showed it to me!
Like I told her yesterday, if I ever had a kid that looked like that, I'd drown it.
(for those freaking out now...joke ;))
KimJoy69 12-07-05, 01:12 PM  I'm SAYIN!! :scared: I have to bite my lip everytime she looks at me to get my reaction when she pulls that doll up on the computer. There are tears of undying love in HER eyes... Mine are filled with HORROR!
Last night, she asked if SHE was that beautiful when she was newborn! After I choked a little, I told her "Honey, there is NO comparison. You were MUCH MUUUUUCH more beautiful!!"
I remember years ago my daughter coming home with one of those Water Babies....it was supposed to look like he was sleeping, but he looked dead  Totally freaked me out when I would walk past her room & it was laying in the middle of the floor!
I hope everything works out for you Kimmy!
:ghug: OMG... you guys are ALL so wonderful! I'm stressing SO hard about this & you guys are all making this so much better!!
Stress? What's Stress?? You got the "Xchange Network" working on your side!!
Most Notably Mr "Mighty Mouse" himself....Alan
(Mighty Mouse=Here he comes to save the day)
