Or are you the type that MUST have a certain product by a specific name brand?
I buy generic products often, but won't compromise on quality either. So I am not gonna buy a generic that sucks (food items) just because it's cheaper.
Now...with items such as Tylenol, Listerine, etc I almost always buy generics because their formula is identical to their name brand counterparts. I never buy generic pet food or generic laundry detergent though.
So...do you buy generic products too or do you have certain items that you must have by a specific brand only? :bouncy:
I buy generic if it is comparable to name brand. Stuff like vasoline, medicine and cleaning products are pretty much the same wether it be generic or name brand.
I don't buy generic cereal, laundry products or pop..to name a few.
I always buy generic Ibuprofen & Tylenol types of medicine. And whenever I get a prescription filled I usually ask for the generic. The cheap stuff is identical to the name brand when it comes to meds.
I never buy generic food or paper products (like toilet paper or paper towels).....
I don't see too many generic products nowadays.
But I have bought store-brand items: Everactive (a Wal-Mart store brand) batteries; Great Value (another Wal-Mart store brand) ice cream, lasagna, macaroni, canned pasta and pain reliever; Kroger-brand lasagna, canned pasta, and macaroni.

I've noticed that generic paper towels are usually pretty cheap. They break right away...so when it comes to paper towels, I only buy Kleenex Viva, since they are very strong and soft.
With a messy parrot around, having good paper towels is a must here.

For the most part, I do buy alot of generic products. It helps me to save some money, especially when I go grocery shopping. I too, will not buy something that tastes crappy just to save a buck or two. There are some products though that I only buy as namebrand such as I only buy Perdue chicken, Oceanspray cranberry sauce, cereals, shampoos and conditioners and soda. You just can't compromise on the taste of these products or the way they make your hair feel

I would say that I buy more brand names than generic. I buy generic salt, sugar, flour and aluminium foil, cling wrap etc but I don't buy any generic food or toiletries - I can't imagine using generic toilet paper!
Generic foods in Australia are pretty good but I can afford the stuff I like so i'd prefer to get it.
"Messy parrot" is putting it lightly, Ingrid! Looks like it ripped to shreads something yellow. :p http://www.tombraider4u.com/pictures/tweety-pictures.jpg

  Buzz looks hilarious!! "You lookin' at ME??!!"
I buy generic meds & over the counter pain/cold remedies. Walgreens products are EXACTLY the same as the name brands.
I have to buy generic/store brand Mac & Cheese for the kids. They LOVE the stuff. Better than Kraft or Velveeta!! And I better not even bother to make home-made. They turn their noses up at it. They're weird, I know.
