Since it's close to Halloween, I thought we'd have a thread paying tribute to one of the greatest films of the '80s, Ghostbusters. I was 7 years old when I first saw it in the theatres in the summer of '84. My dad took me, my sister and brother into the theatre, and he did not tell us what the movie was. I hadn't even heard of Ghostbusters. It was the most memorable movie theater experience of my childhood (along with Return of the Jedi). It had so many classic lines, the ghosts and creatures were great, it had everything! They sure don't make 'em like that anymore! I now watch it annually every Halloween, along with some classic horror movies.

What was y'all's best memory of Ghostbusters and when did you first see it?

GOD! Stud, you are just a baby, I was 14 when that movie came out. I cannot agree with you that it ranks among the "best," but it is very good. The film was ahead of its time, combining horror with humor. The Scary Movie type films of today attempt to do the same, but none of them come close to the writing of the original Ghostbusters. :dgrin:

Hey, what about the song? The answer we always gave when we heard the words "Who you gonna call..." was Ghostbusters! :mwaha: :bouncy:

The song is great, one of the best dance songs of the '80s! I've got the GB soundtrack CD.

I was a little kid when it was first released on video (betamax! :D ), and was so excited when my dad promised to rent it for us. It was the first horror movie I ever saw, and I remember being frightened, but very excited too. The library ghost scared me to death and gave me nightmares for weeks... I was also afraid of slimer  But I loved every second of it, and used to watch it every day, sometimes twice, when i got my first copy of it. I was always trying to talk the kids in the neighborhood into playing Ghostbusters with me... I always wanted to be Gozer, because I thought she was the coolest :dgrin: I ruined several video tapes of it before I finally got it on DVD, and it has been my favorite movie since I first saw it all those years ago. It makes me extremely sentimental to watch it now, it reminds me of all the best stuff from my childhood - it's like a time machine for me. Now my two biggest interests/hobbies are the paranormal and collecting horror movies, and I'm sure "Ghostbusters" started that.

 I love Ghostbusters! I first saw it in the theater with my family when I was 6. It never occured to me it was a comedy until many years later. I was really scared of all the ghosts and monsters. Rick Moranis is so funny in that movie... "OK, who brought the dog?" and "Maybe I got a Milkbone." :rollin:
What about the Ghostbusters game for Atari? That game kicked so much ass!
You had to drive to the building and then catch the ghost without crossing the streams! So much fun!! :yesnod:

I was about 9 when I saw it! It was one of the best movies I ever saw when I was young and I still ranked as one of my favorites. :thumb:
