80sTrivia 4-14-01, 10:51 AM It's really quite inspiring to see so many youthful personalities posting on the 80s board, but you guys are starting to make me feel old and decrepit!!! I need to make an appointment with my plastic surgeon; I have to schedule a face lift and some liposuction, pronto!!!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00happy.gif

Hey, GoGoGadget. I think it is cool to have some younger people here. Glad you joined us.
------------------
If I'm here and your here doesn't that make it our time?
gogogadget 4-15-01, 07:46 AM Hey I'm not that young! I'm legally an adult, have been for a whole year. For those of you who are bad at math, I am 19 http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//wink.gif I think I do look a little young for my age, but that's okay. I will enjoy that later. Thanks for making me feel welcome everyone. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif

If I'm here and your here doesn't that make it our time?
80sTrivia 4-15-01, 11:44 AM Now that I have a face lift scheduled for later this month, I will feel more confident when posting to this board. So, for future reference, that smile on my face will be permanent, and I'm not necessarily laughing at something someone says!!!

80sTrivia 4-15-01, 10:55 PM You are really showing your youth, GoGoGadget. Ralph Macchio was the youngish looking actor that portrayed the Karate Kid in the movie series, and was also in The Outsiders, so I would take that as a compliment...http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

yes, gogogadget, I will say that is a compliment seeing as how I was TOTALLY IN LOVE with Ralph when he was in his day!!!
Good to know that you are over 18 or else my thoughts would get me arrested!! (heheh!!)
Amy Livin 4-16-01, 01:16 AM Sorry GoGoGadget, thought you were younger than me. Oh well, one less person to bump off the board to be the youngest again http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//DEVIL2.gif

80sTrivia 4-17-01, 09:24 AM By the way, Nathan... in one of the pictures you are playing the guitar. Are you in a band, and, if so, what sort of music do you play? You wouldn't happen to play 80s tunes, would you???

gogogadget 4-17-01, 02:20 PM Hey everyone, thanks. I know who you are talking about now. Please don't kill me http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif hahaha I used to love the Karate Kid movies back in the day, but I never took the time to learn the names of the actors. In answer to your question MDC, I do play bass and yes I WAS in a band. My band broke up a few months ago... hmmm it was in October I think. We did not play 80s rock though, sorry everyone. (this is going to get me killed) but if anyone has ever heard the Deftones or Factory 81 then you would know our style of rock. I did hear a local Nashville band that reminded me of this board. They are called Frans Matra I believe. Some of you might like to check them out on Napster and report back on if they are 80ish enough. I personally, am not a good judge of 80's rock.

Amy Livin 4-17-01, 07:37 PM Hmmm....well you know GoGoGadget, you can always start up a band with me http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//icon20.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//wink.gif It's too bad you don't leave anywhere near here. Jessy and I want to start a band but we are only two guitarists. Can't make much of a band with that.

gogogadget 4-18-01, 02:59 PM Hey cool Amy,
I'd start a band with you if i wasn't stuck in Nashville. Do you sing at all or do you only play guitar? Also what kind of music are you into? I'm guessing 80's type of stuff of course http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif
------------------
Visit http://www.inspector-gadget.net for all your Inspector Gadget needs :)
Amy Livin 4-18-01, 05:31 PM I love to sing, but I don't think my voice is that great. I'm mostly into 80's rock, like Bon Jovi and Def Leppard and Europe but lately I have been getting A LOT into heavy metal and death metal (cause of Jessy hihihi, I love that guy so much)

gogogadget 4-19-01, 12:19 AM They thanks MDC. I am not really into the whole music scene anymore though. You might one day be able to say you know the owner of Fix magazine. Hahaha or maybe I'll be a famous web designer. I have a lot going on for a kid http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif I have started my own Web design company and I'm in the process of starting up a Nashville magazine about things to do. 80sTrivia 4-21-01, 12:06 PM I'm very impressed with you, Nathan... you do have a great deal going for you to be so young!!! Once you get your magazine off the ground, remember, I'm a published author, and I'd be happy to write an article or two for you, on spec!!! So, when you become the next William Randolph Hearst or Malcome Forbes, we can all say... "I knew him when..."

Amy Livin 4-21-01, 03:55 PM Damn, now I feel like my life is going nowhere. Right now it's looking like I'm going to live in a crappy appartment downtown with a guy that I sleep with but isn't my boyfriend and drink beer, smoke ciggarettes and watch non-cable tv 5 years from now. Hmm...actualy, that doesn't sound so bad http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif

gogogadget 4-23-01, 07:50 AM Hey thanks everyone. Amy, I am sure you will find out what you want to do in life. The reason I do so much stuff is because I'm not quite sure what I want to do either. MDC, what have you written and published? I'd like to check out one of your books. Sorry I replied to this so slowly. I had to go home to bring some of the stuff from my dorm back to GA. gogogadget 4-24-01, 01:57 PM Hey thank you for the welcome Sheibub. Also, thanks for the encouragement Sal. I am going to keep playing a little bit, but I'm not exactly banking my life on the idea that I might become a rockstar http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//roll.gif Anywy, MDC, I checked out your book and it seems really cool. I hope sales go well and that you continue to write. Do you have any hints or tips for writing articles? Anything you can say will be a help I'm sure. I'll let you know if I have anything that you can help me write on. Would you be interested in doing some book reviews on various topics? Just let me know http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif Have a good day everyone. It's finals here so I am really stressed.

80sTrivia 4-24-01, 03:28 PM My only writing tip for you, Nathan, is to write from the heart and to keep at it, practicing everyday. I would be honored to write any type of article that you would need, so just say the word! You have the initiative and the drive, obviously, so you are bound to be successful at anything you do. gogogadget 4-24-01, 09:17 PM Hey thanks MDC, it means a lot to hear that from some one because sometimes I get the feeling that I might be some starry eyed kid with way too many dreams. I guess the truth is that I have way too many things I want to do with my life and I want to accomplish so many things that I try to do them all at once. I get bogged down, but you know what's crazy? I'm in college and it isn't something I even want to do. I guess I just do it to keep my mom happy http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif It's not that bad and it's also not as hard as they made it out to be in High School. Just out of curiosity how old are you? Also one question about magazine stuff. Do you have any idea how to go about getting press passes to concerts, clubs, events, etc. . .? We want to do write ups of local shows and have no idea how to get passes.
------------------
Visit http://www.inspector-gadget.net for all your Inspector Gadget needs :)
80sTrivia 4-24-01, 10:28 PM You can never have too many dreams! My dreams as a child were to travel around the world, learn to speak at least two other languages, and to publish a book or two, and I've accomplished all of these goals, by the age of ??. (No, I'm not sensitive about my age. I'm somewhere between the age of 19 to 35!!!) Another piece of advice: Stay In School! You will never, ever, ever regret receiving a higher education, believe me. It will definitely come in handy one day. Get a degree, in anything. It will prove incredibly usefull in the future. I'm not certain about how to go about acquiring a press pass for admission into concerts and the ilk, but I can do a little research and get back to you on that one. Enjoy!!!

gogogadget 4-25-01, 03:44 PM Thanks for the advice MDC, so you are 35 huh? Hehehe just kidding. What other languages do you know? I should be able to speak spanish (my dad is puerto rican), but I never took the time to learn it. When is your next book due out? I think I read somewhere that it's going to be a steamy novel set in the 80s? Looking forward to reading that one http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

Ah yes, another bassist to join the ranks! IS that an Ibanez I see you playing? Can't really tell, the pic is dark.
I have only two bits of advice for you, from a bass warrior with 23 years of experience....keep practicing, and LOSE THE BAGGY PANTS!!!! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif

gogogadget 4-25-01, 07:16 PM Hey Pagan, we talked about playing bass back in the day http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif its cool that you don't remember. I play a Washburn mostly, but I do have an Ibanez as well. I can't promise you that I'll lose the baggy pants though. I did, after all, develop my style and musical tastes in the 90's. Hahaha you might want to try some on to see how they fit! Just kidding of course, talk to you later.

Just kidding, of course. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//icon36.gif I actually do speak Spanish fluently as well as Portuguese, and, yes, you should take some Spanish lessons. I am also writing a few articles, but right now school is kicking my butt. I have 2 papers due tomorrow. Today I had a final project due in 2D design. I didn't sleep, I stayed up all through the night and finished the project with 15 minutes to get ready for class. I also had a Flash website due for Web Design class. That was an easy project though. I never thought finals in college would be so intense. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

80sTrivia 5-01-01, 11:00 AM Oh, how I remember frantically studying for finals during my college days... what a minute, I don't remember studying for finals... I guess I killed too many brain cells during those days!!!http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00drunk.gif
At any rate, we are all interested in how your magazine does, Natha, so the best of luck to you. And I'm sure you will ace your finals...

gogogadget 5-01-01, 12:15 PM Hmmm,42 isn't that old. IF what morningmyst says is true than I am around 60 this morning. Did any of you always get stress-induced colds durring finals? It's not fun at all. Anyway, on my way to turn in a paper for English. MDC, I don't study either http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif I probably would if I had classes I could study for. The beauty of being a design student is you don't have to take many final exams, you just have a lot of final projects. The only exams I have are in English and Sociology and I've got them both in the bag. Ahhhh, today is the last day of school. It feels great to have one year off my chest http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif have a good day everyone. Hope you all feel better than me http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif
