I survived. There was a lot of noisy wind and rain here in Baton Rouge. A lot of trees are down in the apartment complex where I live. Plus they're leveling the land across the street to put in a retirement home so a lot of that mud washed over into the parking lot. But, we didn't lose electricity (it flickered a couple of times) and obviously I still have an internet connection. So, y'all can stop worrying about me. :D

My in-laws are expecting up to 20 inches of rain, they said. They live in Bossier. Again, jen, pick Dad up in the boat. Try to forget Mom. I mean. Ummm... I meant, try not to forget Mom. Yeah. Sure.

We got lucky it went east of us. No real damage around here.

About all I got from Rita was a little rain and occasional winds.

Glad to hear our La. and TX Xchangers are ok. I heard that Rita spawned some tornadoes in central Mississippi and there was several injuries and at least one death. :(

It's raining and windy up here in the Memphis area now, but nothing at all serious.

Just got power back on here today at 1:pm and just in time. Temps are expected to be back near 100 degrees today. Few gas stations have gas and the ones that are open have long lines. Grocery store's shelves are half empty but seems like they are starting to restock. Other then that doing just fine.

I just saw a note about Alicia, (HouTexGurl), and thought I'd pass it on.


"I received a call from Alicia earlier tonight letting me know she and her family are safe. They are roughly about 4 hours from her home, but it took them around 15 hours to get there. She said the traffic was horrible, people were on the side of the road getting sick from sitting in that heat waiting for traffic to move.

She is not allowed back into her city until Tuesday or Wednesday. She said her home won't have power or water. She is having a very hard time getting cell service, due to the phone lines being overloaded. I'm glad she could get through to one of us though :)

Her home didn't receive a direct hit, and I know I'm very greatful for that. Hopefully there isn't any damage at all and they can get back to normal living asap :)"
