RUSH: "R:30" DVD To Surface In November

According to All Headline News, RUSH have set a November 15 release date for their "R:30 - Rush Live In Frankfurt" DVD. The disc will feature a full performance of the German show during the band's 30th Anniversary Tour in 2004. It will also include a full-length documentary on the history of RUSH that has a running time of just over one hour and exclusive lost live footage of the band from the early 1980s.

In other news, RUSH plan to begin reissuing their VHS catalog on DVD with the 1981 concert film "Exit Stage Left..." , 1984's "Grace Under Pressure Tour", and a performance recorded in 1988, "A Show of Hands". The DVDs will be offered in a special box set and then individually.

If that was not enough news for RUSH fans, the band have reportedly begun the process of pre-production and are in the early stages of writing for their new album which should be ready for release sometime in 2006.

As previously reported, drummer Neil Peart will release an instructional DVD, titled "Anatomy of A Drum Solo", on December 13 through Hudson Music. The DVD will contain over two hours of Peart playing through numerous versions of drum solos he has performed for the better part of thirty years.

I was a BIG Rush fan growing up and quit listening about the time "Grace" came out (left their roots just like almost every other band)..........but Neil Peart has always been the best drummer I have ever heard or seen play. Another one that doesn't get as much credit as the rest of the axe-men is Alex Lifeson.......I saw one of his solos that would put 80% of the so-called "guitar gods" away.

This reminds me of his "A work in progress" which covers the tracks from Test For Echo in detail. It also shows him during what he calls his warm up excercises......more like an awesome drum solo.

I lost interest in Rush after Hold Your Fire. But if you really think about it Moving Pictures was the last REALLY good Rush album. Starting with Signals and then continuing with Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows you were witnessing them on the downward spiral.
