View Full Version : RETROMAN - the man and his band
RetroMan 6-17-01, 12:47 PM He's some picture of my band - this one is pretty dark and spooky, but we all loved it the best!
especially the filter on the lense that made the candle flare out like that! check it out!

And here is a picture of me going balistic on stage (I usually knock over the microphone, speakers, cymbal stands and/or other band members!! here's me in action:
http://www.tell.net.au/~glenlink/thrash.jpg
My hair was almost like dreadlocks that night because I had spent the day at the beach (prior to the show!)
RetroMan 6-17-01, 12:54 PM PS That yellow tape in front of the stage is the actual 'crime scene' tape that the police use - our guitarist got a whole roll of it from somewhere (probably stole it!), and we use it to barrier off the stage (quite appropriate!)
Amy Livin 6-17-01, 01:44 PM Awesome pics Retro! Man, I just love your hair!!!!
morningmyst 6-17-01, 07:42 PM Those are soooo cool! Loved the black & white pic!
Cool pics Retroman. I like the first one awesome effect with the filter.
The second picture you can see the passion that you have for your music. What style of music does your band play? I like your bass by the way....BC Rich...right? You and Pagan should get along really well he plays bass too.
Nice pictures RetroMan Your eyes in the first one....nice
Sounds like you really "feel" your music
Blaziegirl 6-17-01, 11:41 PM Hmmmm, good looks, great personality and a very funny guy! What more could a girl ask for Do you have any music posted somewhere so we can hear it?
RetroMan 6-18-01, 12:10 AM thanks Amy I like yours too! - Thanks Morningmyst we totally loved the B&W one too!
Yes Not Man very good it's a BC Rich - limited edition NY version Warlock bass - I have a collection of 8 basses and rising. My favorite being a Geddy Lee stereo Rickenbacker 4003. Thankyou topcat, If you eat up all you carrots you too can maintain healthy eyes I do feel my music, I feel like it's the greatest form of expression anyone can give, besides love (corny I know) - whoah Blazie thanks you make me go red whenever I talk to you! I might think about some soundfiles Not Man. Our music is described by critics as 'guitar orientated 80's synthpop' - there is just as much guitar as there is synth - all very catchy stuff, I sometimes wish I was born earlier so I might have had a chance at being in one of the groups of the 80's! imagine that!! I would be so happy
Warlock..yeah that's the name Thanks Retroman You have a Geddy Lee Rickenbacker!! To cool! Was he an influence on your playing? He is my favorite bass player Next to Pagan Of course
Don't feel that way about feeling your music I think I heard another musician, I can't remember who maybe Steve Vai, say the same thing. Not corny at all. I wish there were times that I would have followed my interest in music.
Yeah if you can get some sound files up that would be great
RetroMan 6-18-01, 12:43 PM Yes Not Man - Geddy Lee is my greatest influence - and I'm crazy about RUSH. it's the main reason why I bought the the GL 'signature' Rickenbacker bass in the first place. It cost me an incredible amount of money, but then again all my guitars did - it's the trouble with buying 'classic basses' - Steve Harris from Iron Maiden is my other major influence, and you guessed it - I bought a USA deluxe Fender Precision just like his! you could say I'm devoted to my heroes
nice pics, Retroman.
you guys look like a cool band, and one who has lots of fun, too..!
RetroMan 6-18-01, 01:20 PM Hi Vilji - yes we have heaps of fun - we are all very good friends and thats the perfect combination for a band. Would you believe we have never had an arguement? yes! when you get in a band and everyone 'clicks' it's heaven!
Great pictures. How long have you been playing? Has it always been a passion of yours?
Cool photos! Love the Warlock. I always wanted to play bass, but my lack of talent, timing, and being tone deaf makes me a poor prospect.
BTW, looking at the band photo, I am reminded of a song from my childhood "one of these things is lot like the other ones...."
And that IS a girl on the right, correct?
RetroMan 6-22-01, 12:33 AM Milani, I have been playing bass since I had fingers - I'm totally passionate about music - playing it, singing it, writing it, dancing to it!
Jasper, yes that is a girl on my right - she is our drummer - one of the best I have ever played with EVER - she's been playing since she was five years old and she is now 24! girl drummers have natural rhythm - they totally rock!
Here is a hottie! :D I bet Milani will agree. :p
Now that is a cool photograph.
RetroMan 12-08-01, 10:48 PM I just dig B&W photos. I'm thinkning of getting it enlarged from the negative
Kewl picture Retroman! What happened to the second one, it's gone!
Oh, and that drummer of yours is a hottie!!
Very cool pic, Retroman. I also especially like the way the candle light flared out. I didn't see the other one either. It wouldn't come up for me. :(
VioletFoxx 12-09-01, 01:20 AM Very cool Retroman. That B&W pic is awesome. Love the candle flare. And the second pic wouldn't show up for me either. :(
RetroMan 12-09-01, 08:33 AM sorry people, I have lost that second picture with my hair thrashing everywhere - just imagine an exploding matress with the springs flying in all directions :P
Sarge, that's Emma she's lovely huh? she is easily the best studio drummer in the world too! :)
Sheibub 12-10-01, 12:29 AM Cool! OK so I'm late at seeing this one.... :p
Why haven't I seen this earlier Retro??? :D
RetroMan 12-10-01, 09:03 AM because you were in the kitchen experimenting with some new pancake creations

RetroMan 12-10-01, 10:28 AM oh how I adore my staker, am I allowed to do that? does it go against the 'stalker rulebook'? LOL
Roemello 12-10-01, 05:03 PM If you've ever seen me and Val in the chat, you'd know very well it's MORE than ok to adore your stalker...lol :D ;)

The pleasure was all mine. I am just back to have another look on the picture. Thank you for the chat last night.
The black and white picture really looks fantastic.
Tydestra 5-22-02, 02:54 PM :* Aw, Retro, your a sweetheart mate!:p
You are such a nice guy Retroman.. you can see it in your eyes :p
Retro, I don't recall ever seeing this pic....how "goth" we look here!
Cool effect on the candle! Great to hear you all get along. Now that we replaced our old drummer with Taz, we have the same thing going in Livesay. We still fight, but it doesn't last long. The rehearsal atmosphere is so much more peaceful....that is, until we start playing of course! ;)

Ha ha Pagan  yeah, the "goth" look! it is rather huh? the candle effect is done with this funky looking 70's filter that goes on the lens of camera. I really wasn't paying much attection to the photographer though. I remember when we were in the studio, she kept saying "don't touch that! put that down! don't touch anything" and I got told off by her a few times for picking up and looking at her props and ornaments, i just couldn't help myself. I though she was going to smack my hands!
Yep I think you're right on the money with Taz, he's a top bloke and obviously a magnificent drummer to be a part of Livesay.
Drummers are a funny breed aren't they Pagan? Taz won't know I said that will he?
When you are all great friends it's a huge bonus, your band is more like a unit then.
I think truthfully in a band, you have to be pretty lucky to have no arguments at all though, it's just the way it goes (ego clashes, difference in opinions etc) it's only natural.
I think some of the argument scenes in Spinal Tap are quite scary and embarrassingly true to life when I look at some of my past bands ;)
Tydestra 5-24-02, 12:41 AM  Drummers are from Saturn. That's what my friend says, hence all the rings around the planet:lol:
Hey Retro, could you give me the phonenumber to that drummer girl :D Are you having any plans regarding playing in Denmark ;)
Cool pic

Retro, they definitely are a different breed. They're okay though....once you get used to the drooling and the incoherant babbling.... ;)
'Laugh it up FURBALL!'
psychocandy 5-25-02, 11:55 PM Retro- I could only see the 1st picture, but it was awesome!!
