I wonder if any of you can help?

There is a record that has been going around in my head for ages and I did have a tape of it until a few years ago. The record started off something like this:

'Ba Ba Ba Ba, Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba (Repeat)
Holding On/Out, Waiting for the train/change
Holding On/Out, Waiting for the train/change
Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba'

Other lyrics from the record were:

Ain't got no money, just holding on
It sure aint funny, just holding on

It was quite a fast paced funk record and I first heard it I believe in the early 80's but it may be a little older.

If anyone has any ideas of what it could be, i would be most appreciative as I have tried lots of searches on the net but without any luck.
