View Full Version : Men At Work..
anyone a Men at Work fan? I love this band!!!!!! I just saw them in concert in September in Corpus Christi, TX. OMG..they totally rocked..they sounded great!! I'm so glad I got to see them. Played like a 2 hour set. It was so totally cool...My fave song was "Overkill"
Sal Collaziano 2-15-00, 04:53 PM I think my first cassette ever was of these guys.. I liked that song "Down Under". They had one other really popular one at that time. Didn't they? They're still going, huh? Is it the same band? I know I've been hearing about them lately...
Yeah, same band, same lead singer. I think the other song you're thinking of is "Who Can It Be Now"..I totally love that song. I'm so into 80's music..it's a wonder I have any 90's stuff in my collection. For the record, yes I do have 90's stuff in there. I listen to a lot of hard rock/alternative, like Beck, Nine Inch Nails..stuff like that.
My first 45 I ever bought was Who can it be now : ) I'm so glad to hear they are still out there. Now I'm crossing my fingers they come even remotely near me : ) I liked Nine Inch Nails for awhile - I go back and forth with music but I do have Downward Spiral which has some really good tunes on this cd : )
Men At work are so cool!!! That video for "Who Can it Be now" was awesome! That singer has some weird eyes don't he? Loved it! I am glad they are still playing...Saw them on VH1's Where R They now awhile back...Didn't say they were still rocking though...Hehehehe
Sal Collaziano 2-18-00, 02:29 PM Okay! I rememember what got me into Men at Work!
I was in the dentists office getting some drillings or whatever... I was high on nitrous oxide! Boy was that nice. I mean... I was wrecked! Everything sounded wierd! The music on the radio was REALLY wacky! And it happened to be, Who Can It Be Now! So, I always liked that song from there in... hehe
So now when you hear the song Sal, do you smell novocane
One of the very few Aussie groups to make the American market apart from INXS, Little River Band, and Air Supply. Down Under was actually released twice here in Australi first time in '81 then again in '83 ( I think, correct me if I'm wrong) when Australia won the America's Cup. WOO HOO! Since then It's been like our national anthem.
Their best album was 'Business As Usual'.
80s freak 4-03-00, 11:27 AM You must remember 2 more big hits (well, maybe not big enough...) of Men at work: "Overkill" and "It's a mistake", which was an anti-war kind of song. Those were great songs also, although they were released at the end of '83, after the band reached its peak.
