I was just looking around the web for other 80's sites and new ideas and stumbled across a nice website which soughta disturbed me. I've decided not to mention the URL or name because I don't like to talk bad about anyone, but... You must PAY to access the best and main parts of the site. PAY for your memories? That's ridiculous! I'm looking for ways to improve this site and make it a nice place for 80's fans. Not just the message base but the whole site. I'm looking for some good ideas - and I know yous have them!!! What would you like to see here? What would you like to do besides come to this message base? I'm no magician but I will try my best to make this an enjoyable place to visit for you and I...

Some people have had the pursuit of monatary gain get in the way of their integrity. This individual who created a web page and makes people pay really pisses me off!!!

Right. It doesn't cost much to run a website. Not unless you're Amazon.com and have a million visitors a day... Get real! However big this place becomes, I will always take the shot to the wallet and not ask for anyone else to pay. If you have a website for the 80's community, it should be for the love of the 80's lifestyle. NOT to put money in your pocket. It just doesn't cost enough to make anybody pay. AND FURTHERMORE!!! If it somehow, who knows how, every becomes too expensive for me to run I will ASK FOR DONATIONS and that is IT. If I can't afford it, I can't afford it and I will close it down - However I NEVER see that day coming... Money-hungry website owners were NOT part of the 80's - so it will not become part of this site...

That truly does suck! Wow, I can't imagine what there is to pay for on an 80s site? It's not like we can't look up the information for free somewhere else! Anyhow, as for suggestion... What about lists? I love lists! We can get Zel involved with a lyrics page maybe too! Here are some list ideas: List of Glam bands/hits from the 80s List of Freestyle bands/hits from the 80s List of years that songs were in their prime List of 80s clubs in each state and what night/price/type of club they are List of 80s concerts on tour List of 80s bands/singers and web links to their main sites or great fan sites These are all the things I look for in an 80s site...must include all types of 80s music, and I am always on the hunt for good 80s clubs, but don't know where to find them! This would require all of us to put our heads together and research. We can assign tasks, for those that agree to it! :) What do you think?

Mirdonamy, I love this idea! This is exactly what I want. :) If we can get together and work on this, 80'sXChange will become better tenfold! It looks like alot of work, though.. So where do we start? :)

Well, let's see if Zel will let us use some of her lyrics from her lyric list. We all need to work together though, not on separate lists..but on each list. We need an email thing going. How about everyone email you or I with the subject: 80sXchange and give us their email address. We'll send out lists to each other and add to them until we think they are complete enough to publish as a page. I can work graphics and web design with you if you want too! So, my email is mirdonamy@yahoo.com Write me there. Attention to everyone: we'll keep this email stricktly between members and only to those who want to help with the lists. So, that way none of us get screwed over by ads and crap. What do you think? Don't forget...put 80sXchange in the subject line so we all know it's not an ad from a stranger. :)

PS...we need to let everyone know. So, how about you make a temporary section on the main page that says "Help us create the Best 80s Page Ever" or something like that :)

Okay, how about this.. I am assuming yahoo mail is not your main email account. Right? If so, how about I put up a link on the front page with that title you suggested. It will open up a new page with some information on this idea and leave your email as the address to mail. Okay so far? If so, what this would do is get a list together of people who'd be willing to be involved in this project.. How does that sound? Once we get a list of people (atleast 3 or 4, right?) who are willing to help, we can then pick particular interests. How does this sound? It would be a temporary link, anyways.

This sounds like a good idea. Of course you can use my lyrics. I've got to work on an index but If you give me a page I can work on drop box's so that people can get to the lyrics quick and easily without moving a whole bunch of lyrics (It will be over a 1000 shortly and growing lol). : ) I know what site you are talking about and I was really pissed too. *****rver bites lol

Haha, Zel.. They do kinda BYTE! I've recently seen a very negative review on them because they charge 50 something dollars for a year. Ridiculous! To relive your memories? To talk about the past you've enjoyed so much? Gimme a break.. I can't wait to show them, one day, that a site can be free and fun to go to. Otherwise, how can I give you a page? I'm not too clear on that.. Just let me know. I'd like to somehow keep it on the server that 80'sXChange is on because, well, first it doesn't say "Angelfire" :o and second, as the list grows, the server I'm working with is really FAST! I bought a 'platinum' membership that's supposed to be lightening fast and have 100 megs of data storage... So I'm well prepared. Also, I'm probably going to buy 80'sxchange.com or 80sxchange.com - or something like it. So I'd like to keep it as official as possible.. I hope this doesn't seem dopey or anything!

Well, the reason I joined the other site was that I had just started going online and it was the first 80's site I came to when I did a search....if I recall they had some 80's trivia questions that changed weekly as well as some games that were 80's music related...I left them because I got tire of paying and because I felt it was a little too mainstream(top 40),not that anything is wrong with that, it's just, I wanted a place that I could talk about my favorite music and people would show some inerest! Thanks for being free and fun!

Well.. From the depths of the evils below... Another Pay 80's site is forming... I wont name any names (as I never do) but it's being conceived as we breath... And THIS one, hasn't even started yet... Where do these people come from? I feel bad for anyone who goes there FIRST and pays to be reminded of their own memories... I suppose as things improve here, the word FREE will have more and more meaning...
