Ah man, this is super cool! Us 80s rock fans now have an awesome sight to talk about our fav bands without some BSB fan interfering. Let's get a strong community going here! This is a good chance to get everyone together and bring back good rock! I'm 18 years old, live in Toronto Canada. Anyone from there? I really want to meet some people who are into 80s rock. Everything down here is pop and boy bands....argh! I mean, I don't disrespect any types of music but I'd really like to see some other styles ( from older days ) get back and take their rightful place. Anyways, glad I found this place. Rock and I'll see you guys/girls around. Where's everyone from?

Hey, Bishop. It's nice to see some of the younger crowd appreciate the good work of the 80's.. I'm in New York.. It's the same scene over here, so don't feel left out. It's all Back Street Boys and whatever... :(

I went to see Def leppard in the summer, they were awesome. There were some younger kids but I was one of the few. I hope that the ones who were there ( referring to the ones my age ) spread the word that 80s rock is great. There was soooo much good stuff that came out of that decade and I think it's gotten lost in all the grunge/ alternative music. Rock is basically dead.....yet I can remember hearing rock never dies....so what's going on? Anyways, it just annoys me that all the kids my age listen to 90s alternative and are so disrespectful to the roots of rock ( Led Zepplin etc etc ). Hope it all comes back!

Yeah, the dirty grunge and alternative scene has totally taken over. I meant to go to one of those Def Leppard concerts when they came close to New York. They were in Pennsylvania. But I just never got to going... Man, when I saw their latest album - heh - they look different! heehee...

Bishop your not alone! there's a huge age difference between My daughter and I, she's 16 and is into the 80's music more than I was at her age. I've been to more concerts in the past 3 years with her then when I was a Teen. She doesn't like the teenager's of today.

Hi Bishop. I'm up in Sudbury and I hear you. At least in TO you get a greater selection of radio stations. We have our version of Q and it sucks and then we have oldies(50's stuff) and then theres....*shudder* EZRock. Hey is Andy Frost still being syndicated Q107, he played the best classic and 80s rock and we don't get him here anymore : ( If he's still there though I'm going to be setting my netradio to the Q. I can't believe you saw Def Leppard! I'm sooo jealous. Hmm what did we get this summer - oh yeah...The Doobie Brothers, Tom Jones,... : )

I hear ya loud and clear Sal!!! Most teenagers are hip hop wanna be ganstas..in fact the other day my boyfriend and I where at the mall and I commented how way back I used to see all kinds of metalheads walking around..or Madonna look alikes..LOL...but today it's all baggy pants..backwards hats..and hardcore/rap style. I don't like this style one bit and also have not met a single teenager that had any respect for others.

Really! The quality of life has gone down! Metalheads, guidos, jocks.. Sure, they all had their quarrels.. But they were respectable and gave respect in plenty of ways. Kids now are just ridiculous. I think it's partially because parents cannot reprimand their children anymore. Everything is abuse... Now don't get me wrong! I will never condone reprimanding a child too harshly! But SOMEthing has to be done. My parents were very strict and it has made me a very respectible person. I'ma very good person as well.. Sometimes, alittle smack is necessary...

The term metalheads is long gone. It's always a miracle when I see someone my age listenning to that music. I personally have gone through some interesting musical tastes. I was never big into 90s music ( at all ) but I loved classical music and still do. Then I started hearing Whitesnake ( by accident ) and realized that a lot of the guitar licks have classical roots. Neo-classical I suppose. Anyways, the great thing ( for me ) about 80s glam rock is that the guitar performance is just stunning! Def Leppard was great. I drove all the way to Syracuse New York to see them. I can't drive yet so my brother took me. Let's just say that now he's got some Leppard albums! He introduced me to Zepplin and now I'm showing him all the bands from the 80s. I didn't really grow up in the 80s....I caught Cinderella and some POISON.....but I love the stuff. There;s nothing like coming home after a hard day and putting on some upbeat music. It gets me through a lot of tough times.

Hey, Bishop. I never really thought about Whitesnake as Neo-Classical. It makes sense, though.. They have such a unique sound! I have always liked classical myself. It's got such great sound and you can hear the emotion in the music... :)

I used to buy a lot of music magazines during the 80s (for the lyrics) lol and there was always this cool cartoon (and I have it!!) that said "BE A METAL HEAD". I went through lots of music and style phases during the 80s and I was never a metalhead (madonna had too much pull lol) but I loved this cartoon. I can't wait to scan it and put it up on the site : ) Hey maybe it could be incorporated as a logo for the metal section of this board : )

Def Leppard and Led Zeppelin are my two greatest influences of all time for my life's challenges. I Love them and always will. People see my car and my stickers of Led and Def are shining bright! Anyhow, Bishop...I am from Fort Lauderdale, FL. I was born and raised here with dreams of going to California one day :) Nice to meet you. I am only 22, so I can relate to you! ;)
