View Full Version : Ballads, Ballads, and more Ballads...
Sal Collaziano 11-22-99, 03:00 AM Oh, geez. I hope I spelled that right!!! Okay, let me know what your favorite ballads are! I will post mine in alittle while - or as soon as I can. I'm working on this site, working on my real job, and trying to keep up with the messages at the same time! :o hehe
Skyklad 11-22-99, 06:00 AM I know..I know..if you haven't got anything nice to say don't say it at all but I can't resist...I can't stand Ballads!!! The only slow songs that I can tolerate are songs like: Fade To Black, Why (by Morgana Lefay)...and some others that I can't think of right now. There are some nice slow songs in the country music category that are decent but a majority of "ballads" are just too slow and unexciting. I think I'm more of a fast paced music listener.
I don't know I kinda like the ballads. Granted now I have to be in the mood but there are some classic ballads especially by Bon Jovi that are associated to some really great memories from the 80s. I wouldn't call silent lucidity by Queensryche exactly a ballad but it has that nice serenity that still stop me in my tracks. hmmm new topic lol
Lipsticc 11-22-99, 06:38 AM Don't Know What You Got (Til it's Gone)-Cinderella I could never Live Without You-Enuff Znuff When Love and Hate Collide(sp?)-Def leppard Without You-Motley Crue. I'm sure there are more...:)
Its funny though, my husband hates the ballads. He doesn't mind them at 'weddings' but they grate on his nerves (heehee mp3s heehee). Lipsticc. you named some great ones I'd forgotten. What about Def Leppard's Love Bites Bad English When I see You Smile lol I'll stop while I'm ahead or I'll be mp3 hunting. : )
Sal Collaziano 11-22-99, 07:48 AM Well, I know ballads bother some people. But I'm not one of them. I can listen to any music and enjoy it. I listen to thrash, speed, death metal, all of that. But I can still enjoy ballads. It's because of what they say that makes me like them.. Some of my favorites, amongst many, many are as follows: Whitesnake: Is This Love Slaughter: When I Look Into Your Eyes, Love of a Lifetime Van Halen: When It's Love (Ballad?) Skid Row: I Remember You (Ballad?) Warrant: Heaven Bon Jovi: Always, Never Say Goodbye Journey: I'll Be Alright, Open Arms
Mirdonamy 11-23-99, 06:54 AM This is hard...here are some: 1. Bon Jovi: Never Say Goodbye 2. Warrant: Heaven, Sometimes She Cries 3. Poison: Every Rose has it's Thorn 4. Cinderella: Don't know what you've got.. 5. Def Leppard: Love Bites 6. Winger: Miles Away 7. Van Halen: How Do I know when it's Love? (the only Van Halen song I like) 8. Guns & Roses: Patience (is that a ballad?) 9. Kiss: Forever (the only Kiss song I like, don't kill me) 10. King of the Hill: If I Say 11. Saigon Kick: Love is on the Way 12. Lita and Ozzy: Close my Eyes Forever okay, I will think of more later :)
Sal Collaziano 11-23-99, 07:08 AM If you like Van Halen's "When It's Love" how could you not like "Why Can't This Be Love"? You really don't like that one? Otherwise.. I forgot about Saigon Kick. I don't even remember what that song sounds like...
Bishop71981 11-23-99, 11:48 AM I love ballads. my fav are: STILL LOVING YOU!!!! by scorpions Love song by Tesla Bed of roses by Bon Jovi Is this love by whitesnake Life goes on by Poison ( beautifull solo by CC! ) er.....what else.... Don't know what you got till it's gone by Cinderella ok, that's all I can think of. I also like WINDS OF CHANGE by Scorpions.
Sal Collaziano 11-23-99, 01:36 PM Hi, Bishop71981! Welcome. :) Hm, let's see.. Winds of Change is great.. Wow, I forgot about Tesla. hehe
br4flair 11-23-99, 06:08 PM Actually Sal, Firehouse sang "Love Of A Lifetime" and "When I Look Into Your Eyes." Both of those are 2 of my favorites.
Mirdonamy 11-24-99, 06:58 PM Oh Bishop, great choices!!! Sal, about Saigon Kick...I love them still. "Colors" is my favorite Saigon song. They are from my local area in S.FL...so I can't forget them :) But, I'll send you a wav of Love is on the Way someday so you can remember how great Saigon Kick was (is) hee hee hee
Sal Collaziano 11-25-99, 05:41 AM Yes, I caught myself and posted about it somewhere on the board. Slaughter doesn't sing those songs! Ooops! Firehouse! :) And they are still very good, obviously.. "When I Look Into Your Eyes" in a recent and great song! Ahh, hmm.. Saigon Kick. I remember them being so popular but I can't remember their songs.. I will find out! :)
Ayesakara 12-09-99, 05:29 AM Some of my fav ballads would be.... Every Rose has its thorn & Something to believe in by Poison November Rain by GNR Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi Love Bites by Def Leppard And many more......
Sal Collaziano 12-09-99, 05:52 AM I like all of those except I don't remember what November Rain sounds like.. I'll have to check it out soon. :\
Da Pamster 1-16-00, 04:20 AM Hi all! Nice to see the eighties are living on in all our hearts! As for my favorite Ballads I would name "Still Loving You " by the Scorps as one of the best... Then we have Great White's "Save all Your Love..." and That one really kicks...The drums get me rocking every time I hear it... Ozzy's "You're No different" off Bark at the moon was always one of my favorites... Queensryche's "Silent Lucidity" is another fav... And best for last...Def LEppard...(ahhh my fav band of all time...) "Love Bites" "Tonight" "Too Late For Love" "All I want it Everything" (Off Slang) "When Love & HAte Collide" (off Vault) And the long gone but not forgotten tunes fom their earlier albums, "Lady Strange & Bringing on The HeartBreak" (From High & Dry) and one of my favorite cuts off the First album, "Sorrow is a Woman" (On Through The Night) lives in my heart as a great TUNE!!! "Hysteria" was one great video and song & killer Album... Man great topic Sal! Awesome! Glad to be here with you all and loving the songs that made us rock hard thru the eighties!!! Talk atcha L8R!!! Da Pamster ;-)
Sal Collaziano 1-16-00, 06:15 AM Hey! What's up, Da Pamster! Great to see ya! And welcome to our community! You listed some awesome songs there! Unfortunatly, there are a couple there that I don't know! I will have to make it a point to check them out because the ones I did know (that you mentioned) I love! Well, I look forward to seeing you around.. I hope our community becomes a regular one for ya! :)
Hi!!!! So glad I am here too! You can bet I will be a regular contributer here as we all LOVE that 80's Music!!! Not to spam, but I made a Def Leppard Tribute page as the band really helped me through a really rough spot in my life...Don't want to burden you here but let's say Rick Allen and I have one thing in common...We both lost limbs...(I lost a leg in 87' to a motorcycle accident & please don't feel bad for me...I lived to tell the tale when many injured like I was don't...) Hysteria had been out then and it really helped me keep my sanity in the hospital and the long stay in the rehab unit there...If you're interested you can check it out at <A HREF=http://www.50megs.com/pamster/defleppard/defexp.html >http://www.50megs.com/pamster/defleppard/defexp.html </A> There is a picture of a banner I made (Portrait from fav poster) that won me front row seats at the Adrenalize Gig here in Florida back in 93'! Talk about AWESOME! 25 feet away from my fav five guys in the world...I was in Rock & Roll HEAVEN!!!! LOL!!!!! Talk to you soon Sal!!! Pamster :)
Sal Collaziano 1-17-00, 09:42 AM Hey, Pam.. Well, there's no doubt that Def Leppard is your favorite band! I read the page on your website. That's unfortunate what your ex-friend had done.. I don't blame you for not talking to her anymore... People think too much of themselves. Don't they? You made that banner?! That's pretty amazing! I can see why you won front row seats! There's definatly some artistry skills in you! :) I wonder what second place looked like - I bet it wasn't even close! :)
Hi Sal! Well there was no second place and as we only had like 3 days to do it in...heheheheI called in the help of my family...Mom & Dad both were artists...Dad passed recently and Mom just doesn't have time anymore, but back then she and he both helped me crank out that portrait and it was because of them I got to leave the handicapped section in the dust and had friedns able bodied of course!! Get to see what it was like there for a change!!! by the time this banner was made that ex'friend was years away in history...People can do the dumbest and cruelest things sometimes and unbelievably to people they claim friendship to...(oh well her loss!) No other banner had anything remotely close to a picture and I am still proud of it...I hope someday to actually give it to Rick or Joe and see the look on their faces when they see it after all these years...hehehehe...I am gonna try to post the image of the banner here and if it fails I apologize, but it would be cool for everyone to get an idea of what it looks like... I did all the lettering myself and the logo I designed myself for the Adrenalize tour, just to show the guys how much I loved'em...Again I hope this shows...Talk to you all later! Pamster!! <IMG SRC=http://www.50megs.com/pamster/defleppard/PamBanner2.jpg>
Sal Collaziano 1-18-00, 04:16 AM Hey, pamster! Try this.. When you reply to a message, look the the left and click the link "post an image". Maybe that will work better. I'm not all that good at posting images on these things yet.. But try that.. The poster is really nice so I think people should get a look at it. It really is nice work. :)
Blaziegirl 1-18-00, 04:32 AM I think this is what you have to do pamster, but I'm not sure. Don't include the NONE of the periods thats where your image would be. <.img src=...your url here......>
Hi Sal! I did it that way and I guess it is something to do with my web site host not letting access to the pics unless the whole page is opened... I have been moving some files to another "web storage area" online here and hopefully after I have this pic there I can call it up that way... I've run into this problem when trying to link images for my Boards and that is why I got a storage spot over at Xoom...Thanks so much for your kind words...Means alot...That banner was such a pleasure to make and when I told the Dj I KNEW I was the winner, he wal ike yah...Then I opened it up and his eyes fell out...What could he say but You got it Girl! Hehehehe I'll try it again once I have the pic at Xoom...Talk to you later! Pamster :)
Sal Collaziano 1-19-00, 03:57 AM Oh, it's working now, Pamster! It's up! :)

Sal Collaziano 1-27-00, 09:44 AM Hi there, Poison PJ. Welcome to the community! I hope we see you here often. You obviously have the same interests as the rest of us. :) Like MicMac has a Freestyle collection, somebody needs to put together a serious Ballads collection. I mean a 10 cassette or CD collection - can we do this or what?
Poison PJ 1-31-00, 07:38 AM Well Claziano, As Of Now I have 8 Volumes Of Ballads on cassette. once I get my CDR drive I'm going to convert them to CD's
Sal Collaziano 1-31-00, 07:45 AM Well, PoisonPJ, you are way ahead of me! I have only one or two but I lent them to my ex-girlfriend. hehe. Well, I will have to make more. However, I'd love to just HAVE your collection instantly! You should market it! I bet you'd sell a WHOLE hell of a lot! Legally, of course. :) Without a doubt, I'd be a buyer...
Hi All! Thought of another ballad that really NEEDS to be listed...Dokken's "Alone Again" as that is an awesome tune!!!!
Sal Collaziano 2-13-00, 07:19 AM All I know from Dokken is "In My Dreams". I need to get one of their albums.. I have a live one but I was never a fan of live albums.. I like to hear the music, not the fans! :o But I do need to get some Dokken!! I will keep the song you mentioned in mind...
I quite liked these ones:
Halfway To Heaven - Blue Tears
This Time It Feels Like Love - Danger Danger
Who Wants To Live Forever - Queen (Highlander I theme)
I'll See You In My Dreams - Giant
When I'm With You - Sheriff
Not exactly hard rockin' bands a la Skid Row etc, but pretty classy I think..
Mirdonamy 3-01-00, 03:39 AM Wow, I have been trying to remember that Queen song for years! I once saw a show like an Icecapades thing with my mom when I was little. I remember being blown away by a song they were playing. I asked my mom what it was, and she told me it was that song. I knew it was Queen. When people talk about Queen, I always want to bring up how amazing that song is "Who Wants to Live Forever" but I always forget about it or forget the name and tune. I won't forget it anymore. Thank you
Queen had so many awesome songs..I loved that one and the "Show must go On"...(I have goose bumps ALL up & Down my arms and neck as I type this) I love those guys and the first video I ever saw of theirs was "Crazy Lil thing Called Love," Gotta go!
Pamster <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">
Mirdonamy 3-03-00, 03:08 AM You have me singing Queen songs now! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)"> They are so good! Anyhow, Sal...I have made 4 CDs called "The Best of Arie Glam Disk 1, 2, 3, & 4" I don't have the money to buy more CDRs right now, but I can make copies for people who want them, and send them out. I think a CD costs $2 and shipping is probably pretty cheap! So, let me know if you all are interested. I can try to write the track list down and email it to you all. But, only if you are interested. Let me know. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">
Poison PJ 3-08-00, 05:12 AM I totally agree on that on pamster. but bi think the version on "One Live Night" kicks more @$$ then the "Tooth & Nail" Version.
Hey while we're on ballads .. what about all those wimpy radio friendly ballads that Toto used to play? I mean get a load of these:
I Won't Hold You Back (Toto IV)
I'll Be Over You (Fahrenheit)
Anna (The Seventh One)
2 Hearts (Kingdom Of Desire)
Only You (Kingdom OF Desire) absolute killer!!
I Will Remember (Tambu)
If you wanna recommendation, the 'Kingdom Of Desire' album is one album high on the 'mojo'. It also happened to be the last album before Jeff Porcaro died (RIP)
I'm sure I'll think of plenty more later but here's a few of my favorites:
Poison: I Won't Forget You
Motley Crue: You're All I Need
Warrant: Heaven
Trixter: Surrender
Skid Row I Remember You
Guns N' Roses November Rain
Def Leppard Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad
Steelheart I'll Never Let You Go
Lita & Ozzy Close My Eyes Forever
Ozzy Goodbye To Romance
Metallica Sanitarium
I could go on and on but that's enough for now.

Poison PJ 4-19-00, 06:07 AM Hey Guuner Girl is Shark Island's "Bad For Each Other" the same song that
Contraband did on their Self Titled album?
"I'll Never Grow up, I'll Never Grow Old,
Blame It On The Love Of Rock & Roll" :)
uncleslam 3-29-01, 06:45 AM I would have to say "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue. The lyrics can take your mind back to a special time, place, or person. And the video showed the lonely/wild life of 80's glam rock on the road.
uncleslam 3-29-01, 06:50 AM If you are a huge Crue fan (like myself), the remastered "Girls, Girls, Girls" CD has a track entitled "Rodeo". It's a gem, for fan of 80's ballads.
