What music catagory are they in? I used to like them too. Is that corny or anything? I liked, "Heart of Rock 'n Roll" and "I Want A New Drug"... They were big on the video music scene too... There was some station called U68 on regular TV...

I guess Huey Lewis and The News were considered as a "rock" band in the 80's, but now it seems like their music is just good ol' pop. I saw Huey in concert over the summer in a small amphitheatre in Northern Virginia. They put on a quality show, but I think the band was disappointed that some of the crowd up front wasn't into the show. My friends and I would try to stand up and clap along with the music (we were in the 5th row), but many of the stuck up yuppies around us would tell us to sit down. The band ended up cutting the show short due to the lame crowd. If they come your way, go see 'em. I think they would be great in a small club where they could interact more with the crowd.

Well, there is one small club near me that does rock shows.. I have to try and remember the name.. There isn't alot of 'small' in New York though! :)

Huey Lewis and Bob Seger sung a lot of 'anthem rock' (if thats a term lol), especially for the big screen. I still enjoy both of their music and would love to see Huey in concert. What is with these crowds these days. Its too extremes the yuppie tightwad or the mosh pit.lol

I think of Huey Lewis and the News as just good time rock'n'roll...kind of a top 40 radio friendly version of AC/DC: simple songs that stick with you a lifetime and that most anyone can listen to and enjoy. Saw the VH-1 Behind the Music special on Huey a few weeks ago...LOL, the first "Behind the Music" I'd seen without an overdose, homocide, or wild auto crash.
