View Full Version : For The Texans On The Board
Iluvthe80s 12-02-01, 10:47 PM I was thinking...since there has been so many of us Texans that have signed up in the past or present maybe all of us ought to get together maybe this summer and meet. I think it would be pretty cool. Any suggestions on where we could all meet? What do you think also?
VioletFoxx 12-02-01, 11:00 PM Sounds like a great idea to me. You can never have enough cool friends, ya know? As for where, Austin is a great choice: central location and a ton of fun. I pity the poor town that hosts a bunch of 80's nuts like us though. :p
Trixter 12-02-01, 11:06 PM Great idea! Austin sounds perfect!

:( Poor baby. Plan a vacation and come party with us!
Austin would be good for me too, I have family in New Braunfels (only about a 45 min. drive.)
If we do it in Austin, it is all up to Stacy where to have it. lol :p
Iluvthe80s 12-03-01, 01:10 AM Oh no, you're leaving it up to me? I don't know what to do here. Maybe we could meet for lunch first or something then go from there. There isn't much to do here except Sixth Street on a Friday or Saturday night going clubbing. We still have time to discuss this. Let me think about it some more. Suggestions are very welcomed. :)

Long walk........LOL. :D But I'd do it to see "the Foxx". :D
Like I said in another post, I used to live immediately outside of Austin. Sixth Street can be a lot of fun but also very crowded. Lots of stuff goes on there too, lots of weirdos and druggies (not really my scene).
If y'all wanna do this, we need to decide when or at least what time of year. In the summer, Austin has some outdoor festivals that feature some pretty cool bands (I've seen Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Walsh, and Santana for free or for very little money).
They have some pretty big restaurants with big clubrooms, live bands and drinks if y'all wanna reserve somewhere that we could get together.
I still have friends there that I can contact to find out what is going on in town whenever we decide to do this. Also, would this be just us, us and our spouses (or significant other), or our whole family? I can go anyway y'all want. As far as when, January and February would be really, really hard for me; anytime after that would be fine for me. More comments needed....

Just for the record, I have no kids, spouse or significant other. But whatever way ya'll want to do it is fine with me. :)
VioletFoxx 12-05-01, 05:17 AM A couple of us were talking in chat tonite (this morning) and we threw out the idea of maybe converging on the south coast, Port A maybe? And we thought it'd be good to do it sometime in the summer, then we can do the beach thing. What do the rest of you think?
Name the time and place and I'll be there with bells on!

I was thinking along the lines of sometime in the summer anyway. Financially, I couldn't around the times you mentioned anyway that you couldn't either.
As far as spouses/significant others, that's up to you all. I haven't even told my boyfriend yet I am planning this.
Whatever place is fine with me as long is it is not up in the Panhandle or something. LOL :D
Summer sounds great! If we go to Austin, I'll probably find a sitter for the kids and either come by myself or bring the wife (she deserves to get out too). If we go to the coast (Port A or wherever), I'll probably bring the whole family. I don't think I'd have the heart to leave the kids at home while I go to the beach. It just doesn't seem right. I'd still make time to get together with all of ya though.
These are just my 2 cents worth...
Trixter 12-05-01, 06:58 PM Either place, Austin or the beach, sounds good to me.
or bring the wife (she deserves to get out too).
Red you just won major brownie points with every woman on this board ;)
I say we go to Pampa, Texas in the northern panhandle! LOL! :D
VioletFoxx 12-07-01, 06:56 AM And I say we punish the Ever So Hot & Tasty Gman for even suggesting that! :p

LOL Tell ya what, you can go up there and we will go to the coast! J/K :D Actually, Port A don't sound too bad. I figure we could make a day of it at least. Take pics to post back on the Xchange.

Good idea Iluvthe80s. On a sidenote, do you ever go to the Austin Record Convention? I've been several times, it's a blast! Where was it held for all those years? I cant remember. I know it moved this year to a new location, but I wasn't able to go.
VioletFoxx 12-07-01, 06:43 PM Great idea Stacy! Wherever we end up going, taking pics to post is a great plan.
So, TJ and Red, you will be going together to get my bus ticket, yes? I may not be from Texas, but I do a pretty good imitation of a cowgirl! ;) LOL!! :( I wanna go!!

You are more than welcome to come far as I'm concerned Val! I'm sure none of the guys will complain about an appearance by the Nakey Angel. :D

I go every chance I get! I missed the Fall one because I was out of work and couldn't afford it. :( I will more than likely go to the Spring one. It will be in a different location because they are tearing down Palmer Auditorium to build some new Arts Center or something. One of my hobbies is collecting record albums of the 80's.

Anyone is more than welcome to come if they are from another state. I wanted to organize this since if there was an 80sxchange convention, I probably could never make it because it would be too far away.
Val, only if you dress exactly as your avatar!! :p :D And you have to talk hick! lol
It would be an honor if you could come Val. I have never been to Port Aransas but the coast is loads of fun (esp. if the girls start goin topless :p ).

Yes Val, it is a requirement in Texas you have to say "y'all" a lot. :D
Sure Val, when did you want to leave? ;)
I could probably make it to Port A. Galveston would be cheaper for me though ;) (or Austin for that matter.) I went to Port A a few times as a kid, when we would go visit my grandparents in Kingsville.

That's it Stacy, Palmer Auditorium! Gee, that's a shame they're tearing it down I have many, many fond memories of finding little treasures in there!! :)
I hope I can go next year!!
Heavenly_Kim 12-12-01, 05:17 PM Im also from Tx and Galveston Beach in the spring would be beautiful and not too hot (for us fair-skinned Texans..hehe)

VioletFoxx 12-13-01, 12:58 AM Welcome to the Xchange Kim! It's always an extra pleasure to welcome another Texan to the boards. I swear we're slowly taking over. LOL! Happy posting!

Stacy, I think Spring would be great, not too hot at that time. :)
Welcome to the Xchange Kim!! I'm a typical redhead which means I am very fairskinned!! A half hour in this hot Texas sun without a shirt on will result in blisters!!
Wherever and whenever, let's pick a place and a date.

My place, around 9......oh, not what you meant, huh Red? LOL!! :D
Iluvthe80s 12-14-01, 10:49 PM Another idea I was thinking of is meeting in San Antonio. We could go to the Riverwalk and The Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. Any other ideas?
Foxx, that's exactly what I meant! ;)
San Antonio would be good too. I've done the Riverwalk and Hard Rock Cafe, but I'd do it again! The Riverwalk is awesome, lotsa fun and beautiful too!

That's a GREAT idea Stacy! It's the centerpoint for all of us! The Riverwalk is a happenin' place with some excellent action going on! I like this idea best! I vote for San Antonio!!! :)
Iluvthe80s 12-15-01, 12:01 AM I was thinking it was closer to home for me also. LOL I have been down there a couple of times, but haven't been since about 1997. I thought it could be fun.

Woo Hoo!! Am I a lucky gal or what? :D
Great idea with San Antonio Stacy! It is a central location for all of us. I love that city. The Riverwalk is such a cool place to hang and lunch at the Hard Rock would be great.
ImSoooSure 12-17-01, 05:39 AM No I'm not from Texas. Just stalking ya'll in here. ;) ...and being a bit jealous that I don't live closer. Sounds like a blast. :D
Let's do this thing.
