Who will you hold when the world dies
who will you kiss that one last time
who will be there when all others fall
who will protect you when black death calls
Who will you need when life turns to dust
who will you give your undying trust
who will you touch to prove that you live
who will accept the heart that you give
who will be yours till the flesh turns to fire
who will give in to your deepest desire
who is the one who lives for your touch
who will give you comfort when life seems too much
who will you love when you love only one
who will you hold
when the sea holds the sun
Death of the Innocent
---------------------
Innocence we all have known,
cast away like fading sun
burning,turning in the aftermath
of a cruel and hungry world.
All alone in modern fears,
never looking for the hope of youth
what do we lose as we grow up
on the day the unicorns died.
Freedom of mind,freedom in chains
given two choices,to live or die
never to run as we all have ran
in the fields of green,where children play.
Growing up is growing old
growing seeds of doubt,
and somewhere deep down inside,
the passion we lose cries out.
Purity is the laughing one,
who laughs at nonsense and silly things.
And one day the laughs,like echos now,
shall ring out loud again.
For children we were,and children we are,
innocent for one last time.
And growing up is the Monster,
we fear from under the bed.
(I wrote this one day after drinking quite heavily and thinking about getting older.)
