Well.. It occurs to me that ezboard is never going to get us on a better server. Our group here is becoming larger and larger everyday. When those search engines finally do get me listed - we're in trouble!

It seems to me the only solution will be an expensive server and an expensive program..

I'm afraid, at some point, we'll be switching to either UBB or it's BIG (yet unborn) brother, OpenTopic.

OpenTopic will be extremely fast! Did I saw extremely fast? Yeah, I think so... Extremely fast.. So if you're tired of this slow old ezboard, you'll be happy...

Only problem is - what do we do with this place? Well, I am open for your suggestions... I am thinking of just leaving this place here for the old messages (and replies to the old messages) and opening the new UBB or OpenTopic for the new messages.

Think about this.. 80'sXChange is going to be around for a LONG time.. We're going to have 10000 members at some point. Isn't it better to get this taken care of now? Sooner than later? Probably so...

Eventually, the 6000 messages we have here aren't going to be such a big deal. Right now, they are.. They're all we have! But in time, as the UBB/OpenTopic message board becomes the standard - we'll think less of them.. BUT - I will always keep this ezboard as an archive.. And I suppose, from time to time, newbies will come in and respond to a message...

OpenTopic wont be available until atleast late Spring. So I will probably go ahead and purchase a copy of UBB tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully, it will be up and running (as a second message board) within a week.. I'm doing this because I honestly believe it's in our BEST interests. It's much less expensive for me to just stick with the free ezboard. But I want everyone's experience here to be a happy one.. And I really think you will all be happy with this MAJOR upgrade... Especially in speed.

Let me be the first to say, good idea Sal. This place is definitely going to get to be quite a crowded place in due time...especially once the search engines have you listed. The majority of hits to my site come through searches (I'm listed in pretty much all of 'em myself). Although this forum is fairly slow, I still like it with it's funky little animated emoticons and such. A speed upgrade would be nice though. I like the idea of keeping this one around. While ezboard was written in an entirely different language, it came out to be very similar. In time, ezboard has added alot of the features of UBB - but not all of them..
