View Full Version : Lost 80's Song, Help!
Shaneous 11-23-99, 07:24 PM I have been searching for someone else in the world who knows ANYTHING about the song with the following chorus: River, river in a jungle river in a jungle in my dugout canoe Floating, floating down the river floating down the river in my dugout canoe That is all I can remember of the song. I think it was quite early 80's, and was in the charts here in Australia for a short while. If anyone can help me, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do!
Hi Shane glad you came : ) I'm still stumped from the email but at least with the male singer I can do some elimination. I just know someone else has this song and may even be sitting on a lovely mp3 : )
Sal Collaziano 11-24-99, 01:45 AM Hi, Shane. Welcome to the board! Ahh, hmm.. I'm sorry but I that chorus is unfamilar with me. This place only started a few days ago so there aren't really many people here yet. I hope someone will recognise that chorus. Sooner or later somebody will...
Shane I'm still looking but still stumped. Can you recall if the singer had an accent of some sort. Men at work have a distinct accent as do The Police if you had to pinpoint the accent could you because that may help to narrow the search a bit more : )
someone must know this song????
Sal Collaziano 12-23-99, 04:24 AM I wish I could.. He hasn't been around much lately.. But, it's been kinda dead anyways.. Maybe after the holidays are over someone will come on here who knows the song! :o

lsclayton 7-01-02, 09:32 PM Could somebody please send me the MP3 of King Trigger's The River. I replied to another message board only to find the email address was wrong and it bounced.
Please...I have been trying to find it for ages.
VivaVulkAdmin 7-03-02, 06:56 PM lsclayton, I got your private message but have no way of contacting you back, it doesn't have your email or anything!
It's taken me half an hour of searching just to find this post again.
Anyhoo, I would be more than happy to share the mp3, but emailing it would be a long, slow process.
Alas, it looks like Audio Galaxy do not have a downloadable version, but have you tried software such as Edonkey or Kazaa?
And I'm still interested in getting an accurate lyric sheet for this song, btw!
PorcelainBus 7-11-02, 06:31 PM Hi

DreadPirateThomas 9-04-02, 04:52 PM King Trigger performed this song (if I recall) during an episode of early 80s english sitcom "the young ones".
These are available on Video, so if you're desperate to get the song, you'll find it that way.
I have the 7' in my hand(!). River by King Trigger, produced by Steve Lillywhite on Chrysalis 3:38 b/w Push or Slide. Unfortunately I don't have a mixer to convert to CDA/MP3 right now, but if anyone wants the lyrics, I know them off by heart! Oh what the hell…
River - River in the jungle River in the jungle in my dug out canoe Floating - Floating down the river, floating down the river in my dug out canoe Hazards - meet a lot of hazards, meet a lot of hazards in my dug out canoe Dealing -Dealing with the hazards, dealing with the hazards in my dugout canoe -Heat steam spiders-webs, jungle creepers overhead (*2) look left look right (*2) Spied upon by jungle light - River verse again (River and Floating lines)- The animals look hungry, look left look right, the animals look hungry, look out for the man size bite. The animals look hungry, look left look right, the animals look hungry, look out for the man size, out for the man size, out for the man size bite. River, River, Jungle, River jungle dugout canoe, floating, floating river floating river dugout canoe. Hazards, meet a lot of hazards, meet a lot of hazards in my dugout canoe Dealing, dealing with the hazards in my dugout canoe - middle 8, Heat steam spiders webs, jungle creepers overhead (*2) ...(then whisper twice)
River verse (River and Floating lines)- look out for the man size, out for the man size, out for the man size , (crescendo) out for the man size, out for the man size, out for the man size bite
Does anyone else have any info on this band?
Regards, nibbo1
Bellephon 12-28-02, 05:42 AM I have just downloade on Kazaa 12 inch version. I can send as an e-mail attachment.

I Cleverly 2-09-03, 11:43 AM My name is Ian and I was the percussionist in King Trigger. We released one other single and an album, River was a hit in Australia but just missed in the UK, then we split in the usual acrimonious way that bands do! River was, if I remember correctly, played briefly during an episode of the Young ones but was definately on the Max Headroom show a couple of times. And, no, I did not make any money out of it!
Just downloaded the mp3 using WinMX - I'll email it if wanted (3.2Meg)
I also have the 7" picture disc!
Bellephon 5-08-03, 05:22 AM I have 12" Version on MP3, if you have KaZaa it ia now avalible on my shared folder. If not e-mail me.
gbken@btinternet.com
I have original on 7" vinyl (ahh those were the days!), which
I must make avalible some time soon.
KellTechOne 8-30-03, 07:31 AM Hello Ian, Didin't you also make video in the sewers for this track?
my family thought i was nuts when I said I wanted an electronic copy of King trigger's River for my 43rd birthday. Firstly I didn't know the name of the song or the artist all I could do was sing it as I had for the last 20 years or so.
They then would not beleive me when i said i had found a website with other people like me who were trying to find the same song.
Anyway I would be grateful if you could email me an mp3 but how do I email you so you can email me?
waynec42 2-10-04, 09:08 PM Can someone tell me who owns the copyright for this song.
Thanks,
Wayne.
waynec42 2-10-04, 09:10 PM Can someone tell me who owns the copyright on this song.
waynec42 2-10-04, 09:12 PM Didin't think the first post went on!!
got the file thanks bellephon but now am trying to organise our own recording and need copyright details. EMI who now own Chrysalis don't have a record of it on their most accessible databases. Can you help us out here ian. I take it that waynec42 is the waynec who is looking at recording it for me. We would be grateful for any pointers in the right direction.

Ian Cleverly 4-05-04, 08:05 AM Sorry for the delay!!
The video for river was, indeed, shot in the glamorous surroundings of Brighton sewers, intercut with animation from Cucumber Films, who made some great promos in the 80s ( Tom Tom Club, Chaz Jankel)
The song was published by Chrysalis Music so I am surprised they have no record of it. Keep pushing them. I look forward to hearing it, hope you do a better job than we did!
