Is there a webpage or any source of information on Saigon Kick and their upcoming tour? I'd like to post this information in a new main section of the site.

Great idea. And btw, I'm a concert-holic going through withdrawals, thanks to my job. The last show I went to was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Labor Day weekend. It was killer, of course. I missed The Offspring in Seattle last night, twice now. I'm so bummed! Did anybody see the Rock Never Stops Tour?

The funny thing about Nevermore is the tour was supposed to be this month but they cancelled it so Arch Enemy can do more shows in the USA and also so Nevermore could reach more areas...I was hoping they'd come to Rhode Island because I'd much rather see them there than in Worcester....the venue in Worcester is HORRIBLE!!!

Tell me alittle about Nevermore. I don't know who they are.. Are they an 80's band or new? And what kind of music do they sing?

Skyklad
12-10-99, 07:24 AM
They are not an eighties band but the kreator of the band WAS in one of the BEST eighties bands: SANCTUARY (released two albums: Refuge Denied and Into The Mirror Black plus a live recording that I haven't been able to find, Into The Mirror Live)!! These guys "ruled". Pure thrash attack with awesome vocals. After Sanctuary's unfortunate demise when the person who owned the name decided to call it quits, Warrel Dane and crew continued on under the moniker of Nevermore. Warrel Dane is absolutely breathtaking on vocals and can translate to different vocal stylings with ease. You are highly advised to check out both Sanctuary and Nevermore..I can almost guarantee you would not regret it.

I really like that changing-voices deal. I REALLY need to remember this.. Sanctuary (which I've heard about for years) and Nevermore.. I really need that mind of Minolta now!

Help Me!!!! Its been ages since I've been to a concert and my son wants me to take him to see Our Lady Peace (I'm actually flattered he wants MOM to go). So without sounding like a total sheltered dork - is dope going to be the least of my worries at these 'younger groups concerts? God I feel old now lol

Skyklad
1-06-00, 03:08 AM
Zel..you don't have anything to worry about when going to see this band with your son. I think you will have a fine time despite having to listen to the "music" from the band. I don't quite know what they sound like these days but back when their debut came out it wasn't too bad nor good.

Zel
1-06-00, 03:11 AM
Thanks skyklad. Well he always plays this song called One man Army and its not too bad (it could be worse he could have bought Korn lol)

Sal Collaziano
1-06-00, 06:12 AM
Everybody has a Korn shirt. I don't. :)

Skyklad
1-06-00, 07:46 AM
Me neither and I don't plan to ever have a Korn shirt...however I do have a dubbed copy of one of their recordings..I had to see what the big deal was with this band since everybody around the area was singing their praise. Of course I was met with nothing more than disrespect for women and people in general, pure hatred/anger, depression and materialism and of course terribly constructed music. Ugh! But then again..this may be what the public likes and wants to hear so all the more power to them if they enjoy it.

How the hell did someone find out info on Saigon Kick? I would love to see them again! I saw them at the Edge in Fort Lauderdale during the "Lizard" tour and at the Button South for the FYSMD tour. I miss them so much! Lately all I have seen is Metallica. They played at the Orange Bowl. We came late to avoid seeing tons of bands we have never heard before...but we ended up seeing Creed. They were boring!!! Metallica was great though. They always are. I have seen them four times now, and don't plan to quit anytime soon! Also, Styx is playing for free in Hallandale this Saturday. I may go, not sure yet.

If I want korn...I'll either pop-it or pick it and eat it. :)

Sal Collaziano
1-07-00, 06:21 AM
Right, Skyklad. It seems like the public is tired of hearing good music.. That's the only thing I can assume... Mirdonamy.. Saigon Kick has a website. I've come across it once or twice.. Do you know of it? If not, I'll look for it again for ya.. And NotMan. I agree! hahahahaha What a stupid name for a music group.. Then again, that's going around alot lately...

Zel
1-07-00, 07:46 AM
LOL Not man : ) The music I've heard on Much Music reminds me more of korns on the bottom of the feet than something edible. Popcorn and cornon the cob are so much more fun lol. Now I'm craving summer again : ) mmmm peaches and cream corn lol

Sal Collaziano
1-07-00, 09:58 AM
Spring... Summer.. I can't wait, really.. I just hope I have some extra dough by then to have some real fun! :) By the way you's are describing Korn, I wont even go look for an MP3 to check 'em out!

Zel

Mirdonamy, I'd highly recommend seeing a free Styx show. I saw them a few months ago (minus Dennis DeYoung, I think he's ill or something) and they were fantastic. They put on a great show and they're very comical. They really seem to enjoy what they're doing. Don't miss it!

Zel
1-07-00, 02:54 PM
Oh wow Bonster where is Styx playing - my husband is a huge fan of their older stuff (not de young by himself). Let me know : )

Bonster
1-07-00, 05:15 PM
Zel, www.paradisetheatre.com is their official website, you can check out the tourdates there. I hope you or your husband get to see them cause they really do put on a great show, not big on theatrics or anything but the music is great and they interact with the audience. It was funny cause I'm used to going to loud, rowdy concerts with lots of drunk people, but Styx was an older way more mellow audience. Still a good time though.

Zel
1-08-00, 06:20 PM
Thanks for the link bonster : ) So far they aren't coming anywhere near me but I've put the addy in my favorites cause you never know. We have their greatest hits cd and its definitely worth owning : ) And I admit it I love Mr. Roboto (go ahead flame me lol)

Okay, I saw Styx. They were awesome! I couldn't see very well, since I am not as tall as most of the people there, but I could hear them live...and it was so great! I could see Tommy Shaw a bit from my angle, and the guy with pink hair. It was really cool. The keyboard started spinning and the guys were chasing it. It was weird, but very cool! Gulfstream Racetrack was pretty neat too. We bet on the horses while we were there. Kansas and Pat Banetar are playing there in a few weeks. I am going to go see them too! :)

Zel

Kansas is out touring too!!!! The 2000's are looking up already : )

Sebastian is coming to the Agora Ballroom in Downtown Cleveland on Feb. 10th, I'm tickled pink and my daughter will probably make me stay there all night until we get to meet him, that's usually how it goes when there's a band she's madly in love with! lol! :P <img src=http://members.aol.com/blaziegrl/redroseCLR.jpg>

So you were going to tell us something About Napster - what is it?

Mirdonamy
1-19-00, 09:05 AM
Queensryche is the only band I have a fan club membership to. They are one of my favorite bands ever! I have a great story about them (great to me). Here we go: My best friend and I wanted to see Queensryche during their Operation Empire tour (a mix of both albums). I think it was 90 or 91. Well, my mom usually took us to shows, but she had never heard Queensryche and didn't want to spend $35 on us. So, we plotted to win tickets off the radio. We called each time they played a Queesryche song until we finally got through. We were caller number 1 or something, but we needed to be #10. So, we begged the dj TC McGuire to move us up to #10. We knew him a little, so he surprised us and really did move us up. We screamed like you wouldn't believe for little 13 year olds! We then called my mom and told her that she had to take us now. So, she congradulated us and bought herself and my sister each a ticket. I know this is long winded, but keep with me here. So, we went to the show, and my mom and sister had balcony seats. My mom borrowed this lady's binoculars to see the band, and instantly fell in love with Geoff Tate. She loved everything about him. She ended up thanking us for bringing her, then stealing all my tapes and posters of Queensryche. She postered her office and bedroom door with Geoff and his great band. She bought t-shirts, cds, boxed sets, imports, jewelery and more! She was obsessed. More than me! Well, my mom was in a fatal accident in late 93 that took her away from me. One day, when Queensryche came around for their Hear in the Now Frontier tour, I joined the fanclub in order to get back stage passes (they will give you them if you are members). My sister and I bought Geoff a card and wrote down my mother's story. After the show, we met the band, and let me tell you...they are the nicest bunch of guys you'll ever meet. They will take all the time with you in the world! They talk to each person as long as they want to talk. It was great! We will never forget that wonderful experience. I love Queensryche forever! I can't wait to see them again!

Zel
1-20-00, 02:32 PM
Mirdonamy thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm really sorry about your mom but I am also happy she took the time to do quality stuff with you (like shows) and take an interest in you - even in your short time you had with her you have gained more from her than others do in a life time with their families - I bet she was a lot like you are now : ) You know I find a lot of bands that are in it for the people and the music are far more personable than those that are just in it for the pop sensation - no offence to fans but look at BackStreetboys, Mariah, Celine that don't have the time to be real with people because they are too into themselves.

Sal Collaziano
1-20-00, 07:16 PM
Yeah, this is true.. It really shows that some of these bands really had 'people' in them. They don't need to do anything for anybody but these rock bands always seem to make time when it's needed... And if they were being fake about it, I'm sure they wouldn't have such dedicated fans like Mirdonamy (Queensryche) and Pamster (Def Leppard)... It seems like they'd stop everything they were doing to do something nice for people...
