Hey, everyone. I really, really don't want to brag, but I just won 1st place in a poetry competition at my school and I was so proud I thought I would share. I figured, "Hey, they're totally awesome, they should get to read them too!" So here are the three poems that won. (I got a whopping $50 from the Gifted and Talented fund http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif )

Pi

We are dreamers in chaos,
the inhabitants of pi.
They say we aren't, I say we are,
dreamers, you and I.

We understand the cosmos
and together we do walk
among the dust and with
the constellations we do talk.

Oh, what a burden, a burden
life on earth can be
for the dreamers in chaos,
the dreamers, you and me.

Who understands us? No one.
Congruent irrationality.
For you and I have the soul of souls-
Gemini in Infinity.

We transcend forever,
our love too shall not die.
We are the only parallel.
We are the inhabitants of pi.

Poetry

Poetry is numbers
it's love and it's grieving
it's the shapes of the seasons
whether staying or leaving.

Poetry is smiling
it's hell and it's bliss
it's the depth of your eyes
and the juice in your kiss.

Poetry is flying
it's the moon and the sky
it's the act of knowing
and not asking why.

Poetry is me
it's confusing and true
it's a blue ocean sky.
Poetry is you.
+++++
I Am From

I am from the endless reaches of pi...
where the digits melt together
and my mystery comes forth.

I am from the Who, who played out my DNA.
I am from Cassiopeia, my mother in her chair.

I am from the, "I don't know what."
the, "I don't know her."
the, "What did she say?"
The shadows of not.

I am from Xanadu,
where I shot from the sky.
My purpose is unknown,
but I'm searching and searching.

I am from the country
where we all started-
from smooth pools of stardust.

I am from the 19th of August, 1984,
where I wouldn't have minded staying.

I am from below the ices,
where I could see the storm,
where I was weak but protected,
where I watched the terrible things
unfurl above.

Now I reside above the ices
and ignore the things below.
The things of bad, of sad
that can't get me anymore.

I am from the careful delineation of an artist unknown.

I am from looking back
but remembering to put my shield on first.

I am not from Wisconsin.

There they were. I have some more, too if you all would like to see them.

Hey! Great stuff, AstroGirl. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif I really liked "Pi". Not many people would see fit to make 3.14 into a poem. Nicely done. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00delite.gif

My room is pretty messy too, I can't even remember if the floor is carpet or wood http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif
That's why I keep all of my creations in a bnder that I carry everywhere with me.

Hey, Shakey, not to be picky or anything but here is 'pi' out to the 500th digit (been carried out to the 50 billionth but, you know): 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375 10582097494459230781640628620899862803482534211706 79821480865132823066470938446095505822317253594081 284811174502841027019385211055 59644622948954930381964428810975665933446128475648 23378678316527120190914564856692346034861045432664 82133936072602491412737245870066063155881748815209 209628292540917153643678925903 60011330530548820466521384146951941511609433057270 36575959195309218611738193261179310511854807446237 9962749567351885752724891227938183011949 Just off the top of my head anyway http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif
