View Full Version : I'm posting Lipsticc 11-19-99, 05:00 PM this cuz it's the only board w/o a msg! Blaziegirl 11-19-99, 05:16 PM I agree it looked sad!! Sal Collaziano 11-19-99, 05:24 PM hehe Yes, it did look kind of sad. Well, yous have made things happier now. :) Hopefully, some people will ask for new forums of their own. I'm not exactly sure why I put this topic up. If nothing happens I'll delete it... :( hehe Blaziegirl 11-19-99, 05:52 PM This could be a great place for the girls to talk about what the sexy musicians of the 80's looked like? Sal Collaziano 11-19-99, 06:57 PM Ahh, yeah, well, okay. hehe :) I guess so. There ya go. heehee Zel 11-22-99, 02:53 AM Count me in on that one Blaziegirl ; ) Skyklad 11-22-99, 06:07 AM Hehe...styles of the eighties..the hair..the makeup..the spandex pants!! I remember spending a couple minutes in front of the mirror admiring my "Madonna" attire!! LOL...:) Zel 11-22-99, 06:35 AM Hey this is actually a great idea!!! For new years we are going to a party and we are to dress as our favorite decade. I'm torn between fashion statements lol. Theres Old Olivia with the leotards, sweatbands, and legwarmers - not. There's Patti Smyth from Scandal - maybe like from the Warrior video. Also there's the whole Mall girl thing or Madonna. I know for sure the late 80s can pretty much be eliminated (ugh - acid wash). Help advice, suggestions. I also have to keep telling myself - your 30 not 15 some of these former 'styles' aren't going to look as good ...as they...used to lol. : ) Sal Collaziano 11-22-99, 07:57 AM Hehe. Well. You're never too old to look good. :) Especially when you're only 30. :) That's two years more than me but I think I could still look good in some old stuff. hehe Zel 11-22-99, 10:27 AM It has nothing really to do with fit, but more the mind set. I tried to dress punk for Halloween this year and lets just say I was a very conservative punk. Scary lol. Time to dig out the lace gloves and my gazillion crosses and my colored jelly bracleletes and get back into the groove. : ) Sal Collaziano 11-22-99, 03:26 PM Hehehe! A very conservative punk. hehe I can imagine that. I hear ya. :) Times do change. You feel alittle ridiculous about certain things as you grow up. :) Mirdonamy 11-23-99, 06:39 AM Now Bowie was the king of 80s fasion. Although he is still the king of fasion. As for me, I went through elementary school pastels to spandex pants under my t-shirts to tight blue jeans/black leather boots/red lipstick/black band t-shirt. Oh, I also dabbled in ripped jeans, spandex under my shorts, ripped jeans with fishnets under them, neon (god's gift to color) everything! I also jumped on the MC Hammer pants thing (but they had to be tye-dye or something, and I can't forget cavaricci's...I was poor, so I bought mine when they went out of style (on the sale rack)...and I wore them with pride! Never owned EG socks, but I didn't go to school without hairspray for many years. Until I started wearing my bangs in my face and no make up (boy did I think I was cool)! Sal Collaziano 11-23-99, 07:10 AM I would probably like the bangs in your face and no make up look. :) But I like no big hair look too. hehe Ooops. I just edited this one.. I meant I like THE big hair look too.. hehe :) Zel 11-23-99, 05:40 PM Gone are the days of Farrah Fawcett hair spray lol. MIRDONAMY I shed the whole look too in my 20s part of it was just to survive 8:00am classes at University. I got way to comfortable with no make-up, ball-cap for the bad hair days and doctors pants lol. I'm still not a huge fan of make-up now but when I have to go do presentations it has to be done. My favorite thing from the 80s were my khaki zipper pants with red insides. I always left the zippers open : ) I was an OP freak for a while but in opposition to the preppie look. We always found ways to mock prep style and look even better : ) Sal Collaziano 11-24-99, 01:53 AM Hey, what's an OP freak? I used to dress with jeans and a heavy metal t-shirt every day with a nice biker leather jacket. My jacket was a hand-me-down from but the nicest one there was. It was a really expensive one - about $400.00 in the early 80's. I bought another one just a few years ago for $400.00 as well. Otherwise, I went right from that look to all the sudden the guido look. :) It was strange how people reacted. It turned out for the better, anyway... And oh, I didn't cut my hair - it was still long... Zel 11-24-99, 02:54 AM Ocean pacific lol sports clothing that preps usually wore Sal Collaziano 11-24-99, 04:09 AM Oh, I remember Ocean Pacific.. hehe. I never bought any of that stuff. That was the style that went along with the boat shoes. hehe. Right? Skyklad 11-24-99, 05:43 AM Hehe..boat shoes!!! I had those! Although I was never up with the style because of lack of finances I still managed to ravage the Salvation Army for second hand clothing! I even do that to this day..you can find some cool vintage clothing at yard sales and Salvation Army shops... Sal Collaziano 11-24-99, 06:02 AM Hmm. That would be cool to get some old (good condition) 80's stuff. Z Cavs, IOU cardigans. hehe Remember Kamikaze? bah... Mirdonamy 11-24-99, 06:55 PM I lived in Guess and Edwin jeans and glam metal shirts during my late 80s! My favorite 80s shirt that I lost a few years ago was my Body Glove shirt! :) Neon rules!!!! Sal Collaziano 11-25-99, 05:32 AM Well that sounds cute. :) hehehe I remember that stuff. Guess was pretty big - yeah.. I had a few pairs... Now I wear Silver Tab or Structure... Mirdonamy 11-26-99, 07:02 PM Now I wear Lea jeans on the weekends with concert shirts. But, on work days I wear clothes from Sears (cheap and good looking) for my fancy job...hee hee hee. I actually drive in rush hour and wear a suit...I can't believe I became this person! But, it is good money and I get home at 6pm every day to my husband, so I am happy :) Zel 11-26-99, 09:57 PM Lol funny you put it that way "..I can't believe I've become this person" I hear you. I had completely different expectations about my life at 15 than what my reality is at 30. I'm not rich, I'm not a famous musician, I hate the phone (what teenager didn't have a phone attached to their heads). I thought I'd be working out of a big office (like Alexis on Dynasty) but instead I happily work from home where I can research and write in peace. I'm happy too LOL. One thing that will never change is my love of music and playing it LOUD. Mirdonamy 11-27-99, 10:13 AM One day I will make a web page of 80s fashion, and I want you all to contribute pictures of yourself, family and friends so that we may look upon the 80s and smile (and laugh). I will try to do this soon. I want pictures that best represent 80s...add comments. Send these to mirdonamy@yahoo.com (put: "Pictures" as the subject). I will try to get this done by the end of the year :) Zel 11-28-99, 03:45 PM That will be cool! Now Santa definitely has to bring a scanner, boy do I have pictures : ) Raine 11-28-99, 06:43 PM When I think of 80's fashion, my mind automatically goes to Duran Duran and the whole "romantic" era. I miss it! I hated the 90's grunge sh*t! Sal Collaziano 11-30-99, 01:18 AM Yeah, I don't blame ya Rain Taylor.. I hated all the 90's crap too.. I'm so glad the 90's are over.. The 80's were a very nice era - so different from now... Otherwise, all my 80's pictures are gone.. I had a fire a few years ago and lost everything. I think my Mother might have a few pictures, still.. I will have to ask her to look for them for me. I know she's got atleast a few... Zel 11-30-99, 03:24 AM I'm sorry to hear about your fire : ( I worry about fires here because the material stuff can be replaced but there is tons of pictures here, out of print sheet music, memorabelia that is just irreplacable. When i get my scanner (crossing my fingers lol) I'm scanning everything onto one of our tape drives and then sticking it in a safe somewhere so if something happens we have copies. Now do I want to save my yearbook pictures lol...... Sal Collaziano 11-30-99, 04:45 AM hehe Well, that's okay. My fire took alot of stuff that I miss but what can I do? Definatly scan everything and put it in a safe place. Something fire-proof! Mirdonamy 11-30-99, 07:16 AM Wow, this got sad. I am also sorry. I know what it is like to lose things. My dad locked my baby book and other things that meant a lot to me in a storage closet that mildewed and everyting rotted...and I watched my husband pull it all out of that rusty closet two weeks ago and I cried when I saw all those things destroyed (and I had almost forgotten they existed until that day)...weird. Anyhow, about the 90s...they were weird, messy, and far too emotional...even enough to drag me with them. I fell right into early 90s glam which lead me into grunch and since I already had plenty of jeans with holes in them, I was set! ha ha.. I never cared about fashion, but I loved Flannels because they were light enough for a classroom jacket but heavy enough at the same time to keep me from freezing. I became a flannel queen with one around my waist and one on my arms (the extra was for very cold days). I love some grunge, and I love some glam and some 70s rock and even the Beetles...but my love is the 80s. The 90s just reminded me of how special the 80s really were...but the 90s themselves taught me who I am and what life means to me...and I didn't learn that from neon. Sal Collaziano 11-30-99, 07:53 AM Hey. I remember that flannel style.. That was cool too.. I had some too.. Which are you speaking of, actually? Was it the 80's flannel or the 90's flannel? It was really big in the 90's.. I had it mostly in the 90's.. I always thought the 80's flannel was cooler, though. hehe Raine 11-30-99, 03:11 PM The 80's were funner fashion wise than the 90's. I had very big hair in the 80's and it was a differant colour each week. Bandana's were big! tied around the waist, leg or ankle. I used to wear pixie boots with a garder belt around my ankle and VERY tight jeans. Baggy shirt and always a hat! The Miami Vice look with the blazers. I shopped in a thrift store in order to find an authentic English Tail Coat. Put DD and Metallica buttons all over it along with funny buttons that said stupid sh*t like, "I am 1" and "Kiss me I'm Irish" I really had a great time with fashion in the 80's... Sal Collaziano 11-30-99, 04:08 PM Well, you definatly sound like a fun person! :) I didn't get all too much into anything with styles. I was just poor and dopey. hehe - Cool unicorn thingy ya got there, by the way. ;) Hey, I don't see a, ahh, thing. hehe Ahh, a whatever ya call it.. A horn! hehe! ? Zel 11-30-99, 04:39 PM Rain, we called the pixie boots you referred to as Peterpan getaway boots. I loved those. I had purple suede, green, and a red pair. And Don't forget great bit huge belts that drooped from the waist, crazy tights, mini-skirts although I didn't like the micro micro mini lol. Tight jeans were the thing too with pirate shirts. I also went through both the 80s and 80s flannel stage. The 80s was the big lumber jacket red and black flannel that you had to wear a fedora with. I even went through a phase during the early 80s with my collar turned up on all my shirts but abandoned it when the preppies got right into it with their alligator shirts. Mirdonamy 12-01-99, 05:54 AM I wore flannels in the 90s. In the 80s I wore spandex, neon, pastels, ripped jeans, fish nets, button shirts that tied at the bottom, keds, then black boots, also any velcro sneakers I could find (I still have some from 8th grade...but they are really dirty). I had suspenders sometimes (Punky Brewster style). I wanted to be Punky. She and I look a lot a like as kids. But the main part of the 80s were accessories...goomies, bangles, rings galore, big earings full of fun things and colors, long necklaces with a toy at the end, pencils with toys at the top, lots of furry things too (not real fur), boot chains, strange hair bananas and clips that fell out of your hair easily, and lots of gaudy make up! :) Ha ha, so much fun! Not Man 12-01-99, 12:00 PM Sal....I think that is a Pegasus. Blaziegirl 12-01-99, 10:18 PM Hi everyone, I've been real busy and have'nt been here since TG day. Looks like alot of you have'nt visted much either. I was just trying to hook up my new printer for about 3 hours and it keeps going off line so I don't know if there is something wrong with the printer or if it's the cable, I could scream. Well I'm worn out now so it's off to dream land. Sal Collaziano 12-02-99, 02:17 AM Okay, first.. A Pegasus.. Okay, thanks. :) Second... Fishnets............... And second, Blaziegrl - did you install the drivers that came with the printer? That could cause something like that too happen. I imagine you did, or you have Windows98. Hmm.. It's been awhile since I troubleshooted things... Zel 12-02-99, 04:18 AM Sometimes we've had to go directly to the site and download the newest driver there is. If what Claziano suggests doesn't work try downloading a new driver from the company. What kind of printer did you get? : ) Blaziegirl 12-02-99, 09:46 AM I wrote this real long message about my printer problem in answer to your questions (sal & zel)and the board said I needed to register? I'm jinxed, not starting that one over so I'll post later after I fix mt printer problem. Raine 12-02-99, 03:18 PM Thanks, Claziano. I used to love that damn Pegasus GIF until recently when someone at the TTP boards said it looks like he is doing the nasty... I haven't looked at him the same since and am deciding what to change it to. ~Rain Blaziegirl 12-03-99, 01:29 AM That person has his mind in the gutter, I like the pegasus. It's pretty :O) Sal Collaziano 12-03-99, 04:58 AM Yeah, I think the Pegasus looks nice. I wouldn't change it because of one dummy and anyone else dum enough to go along with him.. Otherwise, hmm... Blaziegrl.. Did you put your password in? I know that sometimes I don't put in my password and I get a message that says "Incorrect Password". Maybe you typed your UserName wrong.. I really wonder what happened. That would really piss me off if I typed a long message and it didn't work.. From now on, if and when that happens, hit your PAGE BACK button (on your browser) and highlight all of your text and copy it (Ctrl-C) and then when you go to paste it again you can just PASTE it (or View it) by hitting Ctrl-V. Just in case you didn't know.... Sorry to hear you lost your whole message.. :( dagreek 12-03-99, 06:56 AM Listen up and listen good is there anyone outthere who craves the 80? If you do or not i have something to say. Im getting sick of some of the clothes that are put out. I wish there was a store that had only 80's clothes. I dont know really any, probably those old salvation army stores but who would shop at some place some drug addict or bum pissed in them? I want brand new 100% clean dont get any disease's from these 1980 clothes. Im not going to throw out my 1990 clothes just a few that i dont wear as much. Remember the shirt with the aligator on it? I dont like those as much anymore but just putting a little idea in your head if you can follow along. Another thing that really boggles the mind is they got 1980 cds, 1980 cars, 1980 tvs and if anyone wishes to know i got my tv 1989 i was 9 years old and god damn it does it still work, 1980 video's, 1980 tapes but the only thing you dont see alot of is the clothes. What do they think is going to happen the 80s are going to take over like a nuclear bomb? Are they so dumb that they cant see it will make them cash. How much does some cds cost? Probably $20 or less. But they still sell those they have to do make money. I say we all should go find a store that will support us and put out 1980 clothes so we can groove in them, dance in them, walk in them, run in them, sit in them or do whatever the hell we do in them. Im just telling everyone who visits this message board to listen up cause its better to listen to sit there going uhhhh what did you say? So im done for now but like Arnold would say, "I'll Be Back" Blaziegirl 12-04-99, 08:43 AM Ya know sal I should have thought of that but I was so tired from working on my new printer my brain would'nt think any more, lol! I'm still having a problem with it. I think I have to reinstall my scanner so that might solve the problem :O) Hi, Dagreek I still have all my cloths from the 80's yet, The only problem is I don't weigh 100 lbs and I got Married lol! Sal Collaziano 12-04-99, 03:39 PM Well, sorry to hear you are still having problems, Blaziegrl.. :( And Dagreek - I agree with you. I wish there were still stores that sold 80's clothes because they were much more stylish than the crap that's out now.. Much, much.. It's really silly that you must conform and buy clothes that you don't like.. I think if just one big company made one outfit that was 80's - so many people would buy it that it would set a new trend.. Imagine - a trend could be set with just one outfit.. Who is causing that not to happen? dagreek 12-04-99, 10:59 PM Ya it would be good cause then it would be big and everyone would be differetn from everyone else instead of wearing the same thing. For example i saw 6 guys all wearing baggy clothes, it looked like they couldnt fit in them and there butt were like hanging out of there jeans. Its so boring to see that everywhere you go and its a discrace cause it makes teenagers look bad cause some people may think they all dress like that. When i tell someone i wear adidas they think im sort of gino but i dont like being stereotyped like that. If i wore jeans and a t-shirt am i some sort of rocker? I dont think so i just like being a normal person. Thats why i would like to wear some 80's clothes so i can feel normal then being stereotyped. Sal Collaziano 12-06-99, 04:42 AM Hey, Dagreek.. Are you in Canada by any chance? I know Canadians use the terms GINOs and GINAs where we use Guido's and Guidette's around here. Just curious... dagreek 12-07-99, 03:58 AM Hahahahha your funny, in a good way not in a bad way. I love that its like how americans spell color like that and in canada we spell it colour. Ya they do use that and i hate it cause its being stereotyped. Im from markham ontario its in canada. Its a town but people say it doesnt feel like a town since theres lots of places near us. But oh well, where are you from? I have this feeling new york or florida i dont know why but i get this feeling from you from those 2 places. Can you tell me why? Sal Collaziano 12-07-99, 04:19 AM Maybe it's because I live in New York and I lived in Florida for a few months (went there for Summer school one year). hehe I know you didn't mean the GINO/GINA thing offensively. It's a 'thing' there.. I remember reading it in Dance Music Authority magazine... dagreek 12-08-99, 01:50 AM Ya well i had a weird thing about you and thats what popped in my head. So you live in new york eh? Well I might be going to new york not this weekend but next weekend. The reason is my friend is a flight director and he can get people on the plane for free so I might be going with him. Where do you live? Im not going to visit you just wondering how close I will be. And any good freestyle stations you can tell me about? How do you get DMA Magazine? Sal Collaziano 12-08-99, 02:31 AM I live in Lindenhurst, New York - that's in Suffolk County of Long Island. It depends on where you are going to be in order to get good stations.. Most areas have no problem getting 103.5 (WKTU) - however, if you are going on East on the island, you can get 105.3 (Party 105) and that's even better.. 95.9 (WPLJ) has an 80's night on Saturday which is VERY good (I just discovered it this past weekend). 106.1 (WBLI) plays current hits and it's not a bad station.. 102.3 (WBAB) plays modern rock. dagreek 12-09-99, 06:17 AM Well from what my friend says this hotel is a 5 star hotel. But i think he was only trying to be cool or something. Do you know where there are 5 star hotels. And is it true the pizza sizes are huge not small and thin like some places where i live? Also whats a good mall to go too? Sal Collaziano 12-09-99, 08:20 AM Okay, well.. There are 5 star hotels all over the place here. :) Ahh, pizza. There are all different kinds here. And THANK YOU! Now I have to go get pizza when I get outta work (in 40 mins)! Ahh, there is bakes ziti pizza, vegetable pizza, breakfast pizza, sicilian pizza, for-gedda bout it.. :) hehe You'll see... Malls? Depends on where you are going.. If you can find that out, I can tell you more... I am out on Long Island, so, I don't know all that much about the city... VinceF 12-10-99, 07:45 AM OP was cool... anyone remember a similar style shirt, had the long sleeves but was called Town and Country... used the Yin/Yang symbol.... Sal Collaziano 12-10-99, 08:07 AM OP. Ocean Pacific.. :) I never had any of that stuff, though. I was in guido mode at that point.. dagreek 12-13-99, 11:33 AM GINO PARADISE As I walk through the hallways Where I harness my brain I take a look at my peers And realize they're all the same But what else can I expect in this gino country Where they shun decent things like personality From 8:30 in the mornin' they're wearin' gel They reek of CK1, The Rotunda smells...fool. And i've been listenin' to techno so long that Even my homies think that my mind is gone. I'm a student in a school that dosen't care, About things outside of clothing and hair. But if they hear about a sale at Club Monaco, Then the hallways will be empty for a week or so. I've been screaming most of my life Livin' in a gino paradise. The clothing's extremely tight, Livin' in a gino paradise. The jock's wear Addias stripes, Livin' in a gino paradise. Ther'ye no chance they could be nice, Livin' in a gino paradise. When i'm looking through the hallways I'll tell you what i see: Indian motorcycle T-shirts and Manager Jeans Ankle Docks on their feet, Bomber Jackets to keep warm And 'cause so many wear it, It became the school uniform. But I ain't never crosse a gino Even if they deserved it. A minority with a 'tude? You know that's unheard a. You better out where you're talkin', or where you're walkin', Or you and you're rear end might be getting the bump I really hate to bitch But you gotta know, As I walk, I can't see my hands In the hairspray smoke...fool If you come to this school You'll be sick with fear You'll be scared you'll turn into one In under a year And it ain't really great To see their underwear They're just intellectually impaired They shop at Stitches and Club Monaco It's a basic necessity. Like Whigfield and Madonna They're are superficial as can be. I've been screaming most of my life, Livin' in a gino paradise. They'll speed past all traffic lights, Livin' in a gino paradise You won't hear no good advice, Livin' in a gino paradise. I'm scared they all have lice, Livin' ina gino paradise. Speeding in their Mustangs, Packin' on the gel, Hearing guy, mint and wally, This place resembles hell ! Think they're really sexy? Think they're really hot? Well I don't give a damn Cause they're really not. I'm the kinda guy that all the gino's don't wanna be like Away from school every night Tryin' to have a decent social life. So don't complain, cause they're all slimy. Cause I been tellin' you that from the beginning of this rhymey! I've been scearming most of my life, Livin' in a gino paradise. I've been called malaka twice, Livin' in gino pardise. Most times, it really bites, Livin' in a gino paradise. I wish they'd all get a life, Livin' in a gino paradise. This is what i got off a Bulletin Board System i call here in markham. Its a parody of the gansta paradise by coolio. Sal Collaziano 12-13-99, 04:58 PM Ahh, I don't remember the Gangsta's Paradise song.. Crap.. Well, Gino's/Guido's have changed MUCH over the years... for the worse... Lorelia 12-14-99, 06:49 AM I still find 80's clothes pretty easily and I live in a really small town. I always liked the big hair, oversized button down short with the big V-belt over tights or stirrup pants. Our second hand stores are pretty good. Of course I am really picky about my clothes. I still have people tell me the 80's are over and I should get a grip. But at least everyone doesn't see my butt hanging out of my pants. LOL The 90's style is so lazy. Sal Collaziano 12-14-99, 03:16 PM Hi, Lorelia! Welcome to 80'sXChange.. I still have some 80's style stuff too - but I don't wear it much.. I bought a bunch of new clothes recently so I've been sporting them around. :) That outfit you described sounds really nice, though.. We're gonna need some pictures! :p Mirdonamy 12-15-99, 03:27 AM Hi Lorelia, me too! I just go to the local thrift stores (and there are many), but they are stocked with 80s clothes! It rocks. Anyhow, you can find clothes, but you just have to really look at vintage and thrift shops to get true 80s style! :) L98guy 12-15-99, 04:16 AM Hey Sal I jumped your link from FvsC. This is cool. We have a band here that plays at the local bars and its all 80's music. I still like the 80's tight jeans and boots on women. WOOO HOOO! My wife wants to kill me since I have bought her about 20 pairs of 80's style boots and about 20 different types of leather and jean skirts. Ah, I miss those days. I still wear the jeans and a T-shirt deal. Hopefully the 80's will swing back through like the 60's/70's. It's getting hard to find a decent pair of jeans at the store. I have noticed some styles are just starting to come back in to the stores. jess Sal Collaziano 12-15-99, 05:14 AM Hmm. I might be tempted to go to a thrift shop. hehe I used to look better in those 80's clothes. :) Hey, Jess! Good to see ya! I never really thought anyone would come over from fordvschevy.com - very cool. :) Well, yes, the styles are alittle hard to find these days. But they WILL be back. I think alot of things are going to change since we're moving out of the dreadful 90's! Regardless, the 80's will be back in, well, 80 years anyway. Well, it's good to seeya! :) Hey, P.S. This kinda looks like the same program as fordvschevy doesn't it? Mirdonamy 12-15-99, 06:34 AM What is Ford Vs Chevy? I have a Chevy Blazer! It rocks! :) Hee hee hee. Thought I would throw that in. I know this isn't the place. Sorry :) Sal Collaziano 12-15-99, 08:22 AM FvC is a website for car enthusiasts. Mostly high performance fans. :) They all fight and argue about which is better! Nah, I'm just kidding. They're are many knowlegable people there who discuss the cars they love... It's actually a nice place... guest 7-07-01, 06:03 AM DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE i CAN BUY A PAIR OF THICK SHINY LYCRA JEANS. LIKE THE ONES THAT WOMEN USED TO WEAR IN THE DISCO'S FROM THE 80'S? |
