Uh...sorry to burst ya on this one, but that's not Jericho's band. Fozzy is Jericho's favorite band, but he isn't in it. The lead singer who looks shockingly identical to Jericho is Moongoose McQueen. They did a whole report about it on WWF Superstars http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif

Hmmm... its Jericho.

Here's the proof:
LA Times - 09.10.00
POP EYE by Steve Hochman

PILE DRIVER: Five kids from Delaware formed a heavy metal band called Fozzy in 1980s, went to tour Japan and were stranded there. They recorded songs in between working menial jobs but had no record deal. However, the songs made their way to the West, where they were recorded by such acts as Twisted Sister, Scorpions and Judas Priest, who never gave
Fozzy credit for the material. Now the band is returning to America to reclaim its place in rock history.

If that sounds like fiction, it is. And if it sounds like some Spinal Tap-like concept a metal-loving pro wrestler would dream up,
well, it's that too.

Fozzy is the project of World Wrestling Federation star Chris Jericho, who is fronting the band in the guise of flamboyant
singer Moongoose McQueen. The band has a debut album, "Mega 1980," due Oct. 24 from Palm Pictures, along with a long-form "mockumentary" about the band, including
testimonials from such real-thing stars as Twisted Sister's Dee Snider and former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach. In essence, it's an '80s metal tribute act with a wink.

"I signed this because Chris is an incredibly charismatic character," says Michael Alago, director of A&R at Palm. "When I heard he wanted to do all these '80s metal covers, it was heaven to me."

The conceit will only be taken so far, though. "When Fozzy is asked to do interviews, hopefully Moongoose McQueen will
show his face," says Alago. "As a send-up it's incredibly funny. But people know it's Chris Jericho. We wanted to keep the
tongue-in-cheek angle."

http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00hahaha.gif You and a lot of people (including me until a couple of days ago) fell for it! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00hahaha.gif

Trust me, I know Jericho when I see him, he was the only reason I used to watch WCW.(Welfare Choice of Wrestlers/We Can't Wrestle)

I'm absolutely convinced Jericho & McQueen are definitely not the same people. Did you see WWF Superstars last Sunday or the Sunday before? McQueen has a little more chubby face and less facial hair than Jericho, the hair isn't the same, the body isn't the same...even the voices are a noticable different.

Not only all of this, but if Fozzy started around 1980, Jericho would've only been 10 years old! If they were stuck in Japan until recently, how could Jericho possibly have begun his career in 1990? Not to mention all the preperation necessary to become a professional wrestler. Along with all that, it would be impossible for him to have another career outside wrestling as a wrestlers schedule is grueling and leaves little time for anything else.

On the other hand however....why did WWF Superstars do the story in the first place? They never did any other stories on other guys favorite bands. I don't know...unless he or a rep of his or the WWF tells me otherwise, I can't really say for sure http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//frown.gif

Okay, I'm confused again.

Wait, okay... I'm good. Its Jericho.

Okay, hmmmm... its so Jericho. I know, but then I don't know. This whole Fozzy giog is being packaged just like "Blair Witch" was. I'm going to the Fozzy signing @ Virgin Records, since I work in one of their stores, I got the goddies to go in for nana.

I'll let you know if its Jericho or not.

The major thing that has me hung on that it's not Jericho is the fact that they say the band started back in 1980 and they got stranded in Japan around that time. Jericho would have only been 10 years old. Now how in the heck could a ten year old up and get stranded in Japan? Unless of course they're all lying and the band just formed recently...if the band just formed recently and all this talk of their's is bs, then I could definitely see it being Jericho.

This Sunday on Heat Jericho is supposed to guesthost the show at WWF New York which will have Fozzy as the special music performers. If we don't see Jericho and Moongoose at the same time, it's definitely Jericho.

After all the dust settles, after everything is said and done. I present you with...

CHRIS JERICHO! I got the album, I saw the band live and upfront today, @ their signing @ Virgin Times Square. I LOVE Virgin, cause since I work for them, I got all the goodies for FREE.

Anyway, the show ROCKS! They really trying to sell that story, about them being held up for 20 yrs. I don't care a tit about all that.

Jericho can ROCK! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//icon20.gif He has a wonderful voice, the rest of the guys are sooooooo cool and nice and stuff.

There were a lot of lollies (I.E. air-heads) around, who didn't know who or what Jericho was.

The absolute high-lights of everything?

Now that makes sense. I mean really...if they started 20 years ago, they'd all be in their 40's right now http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

When Jericho comes out on RAW Oct. 30, I'll have to start a chant of "Fozzy" or "Moongoose" to get Y2J off the wall http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif

Hehehehehe, someone actually asked Jericho that. If they were in Japan for 20 yrs, how come they look so young. His reply: "See, we were so poor that we had to live in the steam room upstairs in the place we worked. I guess all that steam keep the wrinkles away. I'm forty. For a bunch of 40 yr olds, we look pretty good don't we?!?

Okay, so I've played their album all day and night since I got it. Its really good, for a bunch of cover tunes, its really, really good! Jericho has an awesome voice!

Ooohhh, more reason to hate me alert:
I'm got seats for the WWF Entertainment Complex, Jericho is hosting and Fozzy is performing.

Its not the 1st time I've bumped into Jericho, he actually recongized me! Since this is like the 3rd time I go to one of his signings in about 4 months. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif

So okay, to end it all...

Okay this story of trying to make Jericho apper like Moongoose has gone too far! According to the news section of Fozzy's web site, they are sueing http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//roll.gif Jericho and the members of Stuck Mojo for trying to
come off like Fozzy. Read the article, its freaking hilarious! The call Jericho a stalker of decades!

Oct. 19, 2000 - Fozzy, and their label
Megaforce Records, have officially filed a suit
in the 11th Circuit Court against professional
wrestler Chris Jericho and a little known
garage band with the bizarre name of Stuck
Mojo. The defendants have been charged with
product tampering after affixing misleading
labels to the new Fozzy release. The band has
put up with Jericho for decades as a stalker
but he went too far this time by employing the
use of common thugs (Mojo et.al) to try, once
again, to ride on the coattails of greatness.
Look for more details and information on the
lawsuit right here at FozzyRock.com
