OK, let me start this off by saying I absolutely LOVED the ECW promotion.

Now that Paul Heyman is in the WWF camp, has anybody noticed how much TV time the old ECW guys are getting? Rhyno has a belt, Raven all over the TV (and they let him talk), Jerry Lynn debuts, and gets a strap, Spike Dudley gets a nice push, and Lita gets (gaps!) time on the mic to challenge Chyna.

Kurt Angle and Benoit get to have an actual 30 mintue WRESTLING match, and they about stole the show at WRESTLEMANIA with thier mat wrestling, which is unheard of on a PPV, let alone a WWF "sports entertainment" era WRESTLEMANIA.
Would all of this happen if Paul Heyman still had his little company operating at the Bingo Hall? How much influence does Paul have over the story lines in the WWF? A lot from what I see. Why else put Elroy Holly in a drunk wrestler angle? (but it was funny to hear Heyman scream about how no person should wrestle under the influence when one of his biggest names in ECW was the Sandman).

I love Paul Heyman, and he is getting to be a better charector on the mic playing heel against JRs babyface. But maybe Vinnie Mac is letting Paul do TOO much TOO fast.

BTW, anybody else hear the little jab at Lawler during RAW when Heyman, while talking about the Dutchess of Queensbury, said to JR "That's the closest you ever sat to royalty JR!" I was laughing out loud!

Anybody else have comments or opinions on this?

I never had a problem with Paul Heyman due to the fact that I'm familiar with his ECW background. At first, I didn't like the fact that Lawler quit. But now, after everything I've been hearing, I've been led to believe that Lawler is whipped. To me, Stacy Carter sounds like a liar and a trouble maker with the holier-than-thou attitude, and ultimately, that's what led to her release. It's almost as if she has Lawler wrapped around her little finger and he'll believe anything she says. He's gone on to say things like "Oh, Chyna's at fault for Stacy's release..." and things of that nature. Since all of this went down, he's been playing stupid and placing the blame on everyone else because in his mind Kat can do no wrong. If he's so pissed about not being employed by the WWF anymore, hey! She was fired, not him! And I also find it quite odd that he hasn't even talked to his own son, Brian Christopher, since her release. I see nothing wrong with the comment Heyman made - as a matter of fact, I thought it was quite funny as well! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif Lawler isn't really royalty, he just calls himself "The King" because of the whole Memphis/Elvis thing; and that's not royalty... heh... Don't ya just love the way Heyman finds ways to insult people without actually coming out and insulting them and making himself look bad?!?!! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

Paul E. Dangerously http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif I still can't help but call him that name from back in the day http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif

Yeah, he was brought in primarily to be a part of the creative team which is headed by Stephanie McMahon. He's got a great mind for the business and the WWF knows this, so he's being allowed to bring his style of wrestling into the WWF fold....much like they let Vince Russo have a ton of creative freedom.

Wrestling needs to stay fresh to be entertaining and Vince knows it...that's what Heyman brings...new ideas which they've desperately needed for a while.
