Neo-Nazis outnumbered at historic site

Saturday, June 25

YORKTOWN, Virginia (CNN) -- Standing at what was once a U.S. Revolutionary War battlefield, about 125 Neo-Nazis and sympathizers held a rally Saturday while two groups of counter demonstrators protested.

One of the counter demonstrations had about twice as many people.

Some of the Neo-Nazis gathered at Yorktown Battlefield dressed in traditional Nazi garb, with brown shirts and swastika arm bands. Many had shaved heads, and called out "Sieg Heil," a slogan of Nazi Germany.

National Socialist Movement leader Jeff Schoep railed against immigrants, calling them "putrid scum" that are "pouring over our borders, destroying our culture, and robbing us of our heritage."

"We must secure the existence of white people and the future of white children," another speaker said.

In its application for a permit, the movement said it was "inviting the Ku Klux Klan, skinheads, Aryan nations, and any other patriotic groups" to take part.

About a third of the participants in the rally were aligned with the Neo-Nazi movement, while others included skinheads and some Klan members, organizers said.

Some participants waved American flags, while others waved flags with swastikas on them.

Bill White, a spokesman for the movement -- which calls itself "America's Nazi Party" -- acknowledged the turnout was not large.

In a nearby field -- separated by barricades from the Neo-Nazi rally -- about 250 counter demonstrators shouted for an end to such hatred. The protest was organized by a messianic synagogue and six other religious institutions.

Because the event took place on a Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath, many Jewish synagogues were unable to participate.

About a mile away, a second counter demonstration was held. Organizers called it a "tolerance rally." Those participants said shouting at the Neo-Nazis only helps fuel the fire of Neo-Nazi hatred.

Yorktown Battlefield was the site of the last major battle of the Revolutionary War.

here's what you do, you get together Nazis and neo-Nazis from different nations (US, Germany etc) and get them to choose a leader from their midst. Then step back as you watch them go at each other because obviously the germans are superior to the Americans who are superior to the English and so on (feel free to change the order as you please).

Wish it was as easy as that.

This whole thing is just so stupid. Maybe if you could somehow make those 'people's' kids interact with others as early as preschool it might show them that it's your character that matters and not your skin colour. Some people though never learn.

:rose: This rose goes to all the victims of a Hate crime!

No matter what is their race, color, ethnic background, sex, sexual orientation, religion, american status or whatever is outhere that is unjustly to hate.

I love the human race and their unique differences.

You know there should be a hate crime day. Maybe that way people can realize how horrible it is to people who are the victims.

The Holocaust is a perfect example of Hate crime gone unchecked! THOUSANDS of Jewish folks MURDERED in particularly henious fashions. For what? There Ethnicity! Nothing more, nothing less.

I went to a neighbors house once, not knowing they were members of the Aryan nation (I'm white so they probably didn't view me as any particular threat). Once I saw all the propoganda crap they had around that place, I left and never went back. A few months later I moved.

(but shhh! don't tell anyone)

being that paranoid and fearful is sad and pathetic.
we're all a mixture, I mean, think about it,
who's ancestors/bloodline isn't European?
a mixture of Native American, English, Dutch, or God knows what..
they had a good time, what can we say?
it's all a big melting pot

I think so, too. Why not have one here on the Xchange? Just a thought. But I do agree, Krull.

As far as races go... what, these guys hate the human race? Culture is being "destroyed"? Meh. Whatever. Maybe it's just the idea that people choose to think freely for themselves and like whomever they like, despite skin color, ethnicity, culture, etc.

Coming from a very racist town (these people are 100% jerks, lemme tell ya) college was a blessing for me. I had never been as exposed to so many different cultures, ideas, etc. It blew my mind away. But I love it. It's probably the best thing that ever happened to me! :thumb:

But, yeah. I don't know where these guys come off thinking that "white people" are in danger of "dying out". Hey, if anyone dies out, it's our own damn fault, not anyone else's. :irked:
