Does anyone know some good relaxation techniques?? My counselor has recommended yoga and I'm looking into that. Just wonder what other options are out there.

Yoga is definitely a good alternative...but...personally, a good workout will help you get rid of negative energy quick! Kickboxing is another good one too. And if none of the above really appeal to you, you could always consider biking a few miles a day. Finish it with a nice, warm bubble bath or some jacuzzi time and you'll feel on top of the world. :thumb:

I need something low impact. lol I have a back injury that never fully healed. Forgot to mention that. Thanks for the ideas though. I use the hot bath idea quite a bit. Nothing better than a hot bath with a good book. :D

I think a little biking wouldn't hurt, Jazzmyn. But yeah, you should be careful with what you choose to make sure it doesn't make your back worse. I am sure you are still sore, so treating it with some TLC makes sense.

Have you thought about buying a nice jacuzzi? That would do wonders for your back. :thumb:

A bath (LOTS of bubbles) and candles and relaxing music works best for me!!

Sleeping pills work for me. :D

A safer bet... I will go outside and read a book or sit in the sun. A massage would help you relax too. :)

I've been doing alot of swimming lately & it helps me relax.

Have you ever tried meditation? Most bookstores carry meditation tapes/CDs that you can listen to. Also, Lavender has an aroma that is supposed to help relax the mind. Unfortunatley, I can't stand the smell, so I use Sandalwood instead.

Sometimes, if I'm really stressed out, I'll take a walk around the block. Some of the best decisions I've ever made happened while I was out for a walk.

Good luck, Jazzy!

Hi Jazzmyn. I have been doing yoga on and off for many years, latley more on than off :thumb: I have a bunch of Rodney Yee's yoga dvd's and am very happy with. I try to do his AM yoga dvd every morning or at least every other morning and find it to be a great way to start the day. Yoga has lots of health benefits. Good luck to you :)

THanks for all the tips! I really appreciate all the help. The problem is over the past six or seven seven years, I've reached a point where I don't know how to phychisally relax any more. I've been that stressed out. I've ignored it for years and used the pain meds for my back injuries instead. Really working on changing all of this right now. Any advice is helpful. The back injury happened about five years ago and by the time my dr figured out that was the problem, it was too far gone. Not bad enough for surgery, but never know when it'll flare up either. lol :p

Good suggestions everyone.
I exercise regularly (weightlift and cardio) and occasionally do yoga. It's difficult to get to the classes because of my schedule, so I have decided to buy some DVD's instead.

Another tip that I do that hasn't been suggested is...
I like to play with my B.O.B. :vibrator:  ;)

Have you ever tried Hypnotherapy? It helps me out a lot. Check on eBay for some Hypnotherapy CDs for deep relaxation.
