Amy Livin 6-18-00, 01:08 PM Hey, what about Bon Jovi?? I know there weren't as glamorous as the others but they were like in 84/85 before everyone really knew them. Before Slippery when they really became like one of the best rock bands on earth http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Nikki_91 6-19-00, 12:38 AM Ok, so this might seem a little dumb, but what exactly were "Glam Bands"? I think I used to get glam bands and heavy metal bands mixed up. Can someone please help me?

Check ya later-I'm outta here!*Nikki*
Amy Livin 6-19-00, 06:54 PM Glam bands were the ones that wore make-up, dressed in glamorous clothes, some wore high heals. You know, they sorta looked like women. They had the big puffy hair with major hair spray.

Gunner Girl 6-20-00, 12:15 AM There is only one true undisputed champion in this category:
POISON
Although they weren't the first glam band of the decade, they single-handedly brought glam back to life in the 80's.
All hail the fab 4.

Blaziegirl 6-20-00, 06:49 AM My favorites are.
#1 Cinderella
#2 Poison
#3 Motley Crue
The other bands that wore makeup who were considered glam bands didn't wear anywhere near the amount these guys wore http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif
As for Bon Jovi were they considered a glam band? I don't remember seeing much more then eyeliner on them http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Amy Livin 6-20-00, 12:32 PM That's cause they didn't wear anything more then eyeliner. But they had the high heals and the clothes. Not to mention the jewelery. I think Dave wore blush back in 85. But they didn't like the glam look. They weren't comfurtable. They're Jersey boys after all. Like Jon said, if he would have been walking in Jersey wearing what he wore, he would have gotten his ass kicked. But they were considered a glam band in their early years.

Tydestra 6-20-00, 01:06 PM Nah, I really don't think that Bon Jovi had the glam look lock down like Motley and Poison did... but they're great!

donlav19 6-20-00, 04:20 PM Tydestra, I saw Poison over the weekend and I think I forgot to say this but since you are the big POison fan I figured you would apprecitate this....I got to meet Rikki Rockett!!!! He was doing an interview appearance for a local radio station before the concert and afterwards I got to meet him and get an autograph. He seemed like a pretty cool down to earth dude.

ImSoooSure 7-05-01, 04:30 AM I have to agree with all the David Bowie fans! The look was perfect with Ziggy Stardust.
Iluvthe80s 7-05-01, 09:37 PM Yes, David Bowie is awesome! I was fortunate to see him in concert and he was great. He is one of my favorite singers.
nolanbuc 7-11-01, 08:38 AM Forgive me for being too specific, but wasn't the genre of "Ziggy Stardust" and the like called "Glitter Rock", a precursor of Glam?
I personally liked Twisted Sister's look. They had the make-up & big hair, but they could kick your arse!
Poison (natch), Crue, and Enuff'Znuff make my list.
80sSmurf 7-11-01, 01:32 PM Twisted Sister...Yeah I'm in on that 1 Nolanbuc
