View Full Version : Question for our British members
I leave for London Tuesday morning. Any last minute advice or tips on things to see or do??? lol I'll be there for 6 days, 4 of them on my own. Still will to meet up with anyone if you have time. I'll be there the 25th till the 31st. :D
Miss INXS 5-21-05, 04:50 AM If you have time, go for a visit to Windsor. Don't forget to go check out the famous Harrods department store located in Knightsbridge. And of course, take some pics of Picadilly Circus, The Big Ben, etc. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/wink.gif
I hope you have a great trip! :thumb:

It's a shame that you're not more to the west of London Jazzy as I'd love to meet up for a coffee and a gossip.
willowbythesea 5-21-05, 06:39 AM depends on where your priorities are (museums, art galleries, pop culture etc).
I'd definitely also go to Camden Market. Love that place. Loads of great buys, too.
Soho just to be able to say you've been there and again, cool atmospehere.
If you're into New Wave (like me) I would definitely go to the King's Road. It's totally commercial and has changed so much but you might get a feel for how it used to be anyway. While you're there, definitely go and check out World's End, the Vivienne Westwood boutique. Even if you don't like any of her stuff, she's such a style icon and so much a part of 80s culture, you should do it just for that.
I'd also go and check out Covent Garden. Amazing place, great vibe, excellent atmosphere. Here's another bit of trivia. Limahl (Neverending Story) used to perform at a place called The Roadhouse in Covent Garden. Don't know if he still does it but there should still be an 80s night or two going.
If you're into art, I'd definitely go to the Tate and (if you're that way inclined ) the tate Modern.
It would have been great to meet up but that week I'll be in Germany. But hey, if you're coming that way ;)
Feel free to PM me if you want more information.
Have a great time.

I'm In Washington State, Just north of Jazzy. I think it's safe to say her weather there has been the same as here (Soggy and crappy). So I think it's also safe to say she should be prepared for more "Soggy and Crappy"!

When you live in the Pacific Northwest, soggy and crappy is the norm!!! I've been checking the weather back there to see how to back. Even the temps are about the same.
I'm definately going to the British Museum one day. Have to see the collection of Egyptian artifacts. Big thing to me. I have to go shopping for Duran Duran items. lol Want to see what I can find over there. :) Thanks for all the tips.
Chasey..... how far from London are ya?? I've got 4 days by myself. If it isn't too hard to get around there I can get out of the city one day. Let me know. lol You're the expert on this. ;)
have fun, and be sure to bring us back some good pics of the cool sights, etc. :bouncy:
80's fanatic 5-22-05, 01:25 AM I'm so jealous, I've always wanted to go to England for a visit. I would love to see the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, see Big Ben and visit the place where Princess Diana is buried. I would also like to go to Sheffield, England ( the hometown of my all time fav band Def Leppard ) and go to the clubs there. Who knows, maybe I'd be able to see Joe Elliott up close, that would be so cool !!!! I'm hoping to be able to go someday..... Anyway, have fun and take lots of pics. Have a safe trip :)

hope you have fun, but realy ,bring your brolly! (tho the weather has been quit good the last week or so.)
BlitzKid 5-22-05, 12:55 PM There was a small club called Gossips, where they had a superb 80s New Romantic party called Elecreic Dreams when i last visited London some years ago. Don't know if the club still exists. It was funky because some people came there dressed up looking like Spandau and Duran did in their early days. If you are interested in going out, get yourself a Timeout Magazin, it will tell you all about clubs, parties, playes, concerts,...
I love London, I like to spend time there. As willowbythesea suggested, the Camden Market is a must. You can shop for cloth, second hand stuff, records and CDs or simply go there and sit down and watch the people. It definatley is a wild mix of different typ of people. As a tourist you also should take a walk from Leicester Square over Picadilly Circus down to the Themse with Houses of Parlament and Big Ben.
Hope you have fun in one of my favorite cities!
Thanks for all the ideas. I'm so excited to get there and check all of these places out. :bouncy:
