Okay, here's a new one. There was some great artwork or photos on 80's albums and 45's. Name some of your faves. Mine are:

Rio -Duran Duran
Seven and The Ragged Tiger - Duran Duran
Asia - Asia
Cargo - Men At Work
Working Class Dog - Rick Springfield
Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet - Rick Springfield

...I know there's more I just need to think about it.

I love a bunch of The Clash covers and David Bowie had some cool ones too. As well as the Duran Duran ones mentioned.

I liked the Bowie ones too. I thought of another one: Hysteria - Def Leppard. I was going through some of my record albums tonight.

I found "And You Thought You Were Normal" by Nash the Slash in the record store one day and bought it just because the cover was so cool. I had no idea who Nash the Slash was at the time, but I fell in love with the album I had just bought for the cover.

I always liked the cover of Prince's Purple Rain album, with His Purple Majesty on his motorcycle all decked out in full regalia. Also, The Police's Synchronicity, with its abstract color scheme, was memorable. Madonna's True Blue album, with her at her most breathtakingly beautiful on the cover, is a personal fave.

The Fixx "Reach The Beach," "Phantoms" and "Calm Animals" were all painted by George Underwood.

The Yello albums "You Gotta Say Yes To Another Excess," "Stella," "Flag" and "One Second" were all painted by Ernst Gamper. Very unique work.

Of course, "Rio" by Patrick Nagel is a classic.

I'm also infatuated with the work by Peter Saville for New Order albums ("Power, Corruption And Lies" - a painting by Fantin LaTour, "Brotherhood," "Republic," "Low Life" and the 12" single for "Blue Monday.")

There were tons of great covers but I think my fave of the moment is Mike Oldfield's Five Miles Out. That poor little airplane!

Loved Iron Maidens. Judas Priests and Megadeaths album covers the most. Molly Hatchette had the best ones though they started in the 70's

Thompson Twins' "SideKicks" (in the UK, I believe, it was released as Quick Step and Side Kick) and Ofra Haza's "Shaday".

A lot of the metal covers were a beaut. Dio's were always great to look at. Sepultura had a few and so did Kreator. And a ton more.... ;)

I hate to sound typical, but I really liked the cover of Debbie Gibson's "Foolish Beat" 45 single because she's just sitting with a flower and looking so solemn.

I looked through my LP collection for this. The only reason I've kept most of it is the cover art & packaging.

Duran Duran - Notorious
Go-Go's - Vacation
Belinda Carlisle - Belinda
Madonna - True Blue
Tina Turner - Typical Male 12"
Cher - Heart Of Stone (original skull cover)
Eurythmics - Touch
Stevie Wonder - Hotter Than July
Def Leppard - Pyromania
Olivia Newton-John - Soul Kiss
Run DMC - King Of Rock
Tanya Tucker - TNT
Cyndi Lauper - She's So Unusual
Prince - Lovesexy
Rick Springfield - Working Class Dog
Tears For Fears - The Seeds Of Love

...and I'll probably think of more later.
