Feel free to add pics of your pets if you'd like. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/wink.gif

I have a British Shorthair cat (Star), a German Shepherd dog (Socrates) and a Congo African Grey parrot (Buzz). I also have two angel fish (and no, I didn't name them Penn & Teller! :mwaha: ). I would prefer to have a saltwater tank with coral reef, etc but I still need to learn about its care, since I have only had freshwater till now. So if you have any saltwater tanks, please go ahead and show them off here too!

Anyway....here are pics of my looney pets:

This is Star, my British Shorthair cat. Her Mom is Champion Maou Blazing Starr:

I use to like animals when I was younger.
But the last time I was pregnant I use to get attacked by cats.
I had one cat jump on my pregnant tummy and claw it and it actually pissed on me.
This didn't happen only once but numerous of times :bigeek:

Slayergrrl~ Your kitties are so cute! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif Mitties reminds me a bit of my first cat, although mine had more white on his face and a pink nose. The tip of his tail was white too. Siamese cats are so neat looking. I love Jezebel's markings. :thumb:

Oh so Reggie's bad with bells too, huh? Whenever I buy Buzz a new toy, he'll tackle the bell first and it'll be destroyed within the hour! The only thing that will survive his beak is one of those HUGE cow bells! :mwaha:

The only pets that are actually mine are Maggie, Sandi and Socks...the others belong to my inlaws. We had 2 parakeets also but they both died last year :(

I'll try to find some pictures.

I just have one dog for now. I want to get a little female black and tan smooth coat dachshund, but I got to get through the training on this one before I am ready to tackle that! I always thought Iguanas were cool, but my roommate would kick me out :spankin: !

I have only four at the moment.
Heidi is my cat. She is a tabby cat
CC is my daughters cat. She is a calico kitty. Long legged and lanky.
Buddy is my Husbands Rotty. American Rott, not German Rott. Smaller and more compact. And Jr our Ball Python. I got him when I used to work at the pet store and a police officer brought him in wanting to know if we knew any one who could care for a snake. That would be me. :thumb: He is the family pet. We hold him, and some times we put him in the grass out side. He raises his head above the grass and sun bathes. We have no plans for breeding him. I just want one snake. Jr is between six and a half feet and seven feet long, and we feed him medium sized rats about every 10 to 12 weeks.

I have a 2 yr.old female white faced cockatiel named Sam ( Samantha). She's my pride and joy, actually my 2nd cockatiel. My first cockatiel Suzy passed away March 27,2003. :( She was almost 12 when she died. We found Sam 3 days after we lost Suzy. She was only 3 weeks old when we found her. She came home at 7 weeks old. Sam continues to amaze me with some of the things she does, she's very intelligent, and I'm waiting to come home to her flying around the house  She's trying to open the cage now, luckily she hasn't yet !!!! We're looking into buying another cage that she will not be able to open at all. We found one this past weekend, but we don't have the money yet, to get it. I'm sorry that I can't post a pic of her, but I'm still fairly new at this computer thing, and I'm embarassed to say that I don't know how to upload pics. I'm not even sure if my computer is set up for that kind of stuff anyway.

She just turned 2 in March. She loves to jump up on the top of our 6-foot tall bookcases. She is my pride and joy. Weird to be so attached to an animal, but I am. :) We live on the second floor of an apartment building and she is strictly an indoor cat, except for the fact that she goes out on our fenced in balcony and sits in the cushioned chair like a queen. She meows at the birds outside but thankfully doesn't try to leap off the balcony for them.

LOL that's what my previous cat used to do. Fortunately Star can't do that because British Shorthairs have shorter legs so they can't jump real high, so she can't jump to get to the kitchen counter, which I am thankful for, since I don't want cat fur all over my food.

Have you tried putting a bird feeder out? Maybe have some food for the squirrels if you have any out there? I always put feeders on the patio, so Star usually spend HOURS watching the squirrels and birds. She gets her nose really close to the glass and stays there watching for most of the morning and early afternoon hours. You can just tell she'd dreaming of eating those little finches and chickadees. :mwaha:

Here are my babies.
Bosco is the newest memeber. I am keeping him for my older brother. He is a big bully.

Lupe is my Main Coon. She is about 12 years old. That is her favorite chair.

Missymoo is my bad cat. She gets into everything and never listens

Winnie is my baby. I spoil her. She is ultra vocal. Needs to be in same room as me or she cries like a baby.

Kaya is my Chow Chow. I wish I had a better pic of her. She is an excellent watch dog. The other weekend I spent two days combing her out, washing her and then clipping her down. I took enough hair off her for 4 dogs. My fish is a typical Beta no need for a pic.

Here's one of Poindexter (1st pic). I caught after digging thru the clothes basket one time and snapped this. You can't really tell too much, because I had to shave some of the pic off to meet size requirements, but you can see a few things he dragged out to make himself a nice little bed!

The 2nd pic is of my Dachshund, Ursula. She had to be euthenized earlier this year. She lived to be just shy of 17. She had massive kidney failure. I hated to make that decision, but I didn't want her to suffer. I just sat there and held her for awhile after the euthenized her :( . I used to call her the flying nun because of those ears. They were usually not like that...I just happened to catch her at the right moment! :)

No, we found one at a store we shop at alot. The doors on the cage Sam has now just lifts up, it doesn't lock into place. The one we found locks into place. Walvis~ Your dogs look like they are cuddle bears. So beautiful! And Bob looks like he's pretty spoiled, huh? Have you taught him any tricks? I've heard that pigs are VERY smart. Almost at the same level as dolphins and parrots.

Poindexter~ So sorry to hear about Ursula. At least she lived a long time. 17 years is quite a long life span for a dog. :thumb:

Papergirl~ Do you ever let Moggy be around Harley? Do you take extra precautions for Harley's safety?

80's fanatic~ Sounds like Sam is a smart one, huh? If he still manages to open the new cage's door, you might want to consider a padlock. Bird can get themselves in quite a bit of trouble. They can be such brats too.

walvis
5-18-05, 05:53 AM
Bob is indeed very smart. He can let you know what he wants or means. If he wants to go outside to the garden, then he goes to the back door, but when he wants you to take him out for a walk he will go to the front door. He makes many different noises and all they mean something different. There is one to say hello, one telling that is hungry another one if he want's to be left alone because he is tired. The misunderstanding about pigs is that they are dirty and smell. Pigs are very clean, they will never make the space that they live in dirty. Bob he has one small corner of the garden where does his bussiness and for the rest he will rather die than make it dirty. We shower him once a week with baby soap so he smells like a baby.

Bruno is our cuddle, he is so sweet. Shannah is very active, she like to play, run and swim.

Yep! She tries to push the screen door open and when I get up she runs from it and tries to look innocent. I keep a squirt bottle around and use that on all my cats. You can yell at them until you are blue in the face but a squirt of water gets their attention real fast! :D

I am having a problem with tapeworm. The vet said they get them from licking fleas. The only way to really get rid of them is to use Advantage flea drops to kill the fleas and eliminate the cats ingesting the fleas which carry the worm. It is expensive to buy that stuff for 4 cats. Does anyone know if over-the-counter stuff works as good?

I know that flea problem. We had to use the vet stuff on them, which is the only thing that worked. The store-bought products just don't work, unless you live in a climate where there's not many fleas. (I was in Ky. then) So you prob have the best product, and that's why it's so expensive. :(
Where I am now, I haven't seen a single flea since being here. They can't handle the elevation, so I've heard. No one even uses flea collars on dogs or cats. But my cats do get tapeworms from eating mice. And the dog gets them from eating the mice the cats leave outside. lol
My vet just gives them a pill once every 4-6 months, and that kills the tapeworm, plus the eggs, etc. (gross)
I'm not sure if fleas are another matter. Ask your vet about the tapeworm pill. :) It's cheap, too.

oh yeah, the water bottle works wonders for behavior.
You'd think it's acid, the way they freak out and run.

Starchildschiq & Hipechik70 ~ your pets are beautiful!!! :thumb: http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/wink.gif

Starchildschiq~ Does Bobby show interest in getting Teeny? I am wondering that since Teeny is so small. I know cats won't mess with bigger birds once they size their beaks. My cat doesn't show interest in my parrot, obviously because of the size of his beak and because he's much bigger and I get the feeling that Star likes the "bite size" type of bird instead. Her reaction is completely different when she sees the little finches outside. You can just tell she wants them BAD! :mwaha:

No..cause he knows I'll kill 'im... They watch her..both cats..but they know better than to even go near that cage!

What happened there is that you clicked on the QUOTE button on my first post, that's why you see the images of my pets there. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/wink.gif

LOL yeah, it's always a good idea to keep the cats in another room. You never know when those hunting instincts will kick in. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/eek.gif

ALL of my pets are rescues or adoptions except a couple..lol... and Ash..I found him as a tiny kitten at the dumpster. I have a fond place in my heart for mistreated or abandoned animals.. I wanna take them ALL home..

Ash is soo cute! He's got a smart look in his eyes. I can't believe people could just dump an animal like that. :(

everyone's animals here are cute. I had some great pics of my goofy cats playing, but lost everything saved on the computer. My dog always comes up and puts her nose in the camera everytime I point it at her. lol. If I get any good pics, I'll have to post them. :)

Yeah me either, but they did..:( Anyways, now he's in a loving home and I'll never drop him off anywhere! As for being smart..he is one smart kitty! I had to hide thier cat food, because every cabinet I put it in he figured out how to open so he could get into the bag if he thought I wasn't feeding him fast enough. And..he uses the tiolet! I kid you not..lol... now most cats have to be trained and taught from kitten hood to do that..not my Ashy....he taught himself..lol..i walked in the bathroom one day and there he was, perched on the toilet..I almost fell in the floor.. ..I guess he figured if we could use it, he could too!

that is so cool! I'd love to freak out guests who come over, walking into the bathroom, and oops, it's occupied. I've never seen anyone with cats who could do that, but I've heard of it. Mine just want to drink from it. yuck. I don't let them. Amos opens all the cabinets. I had to baby-proof them. He also jumps on the table near the back door and moves his paw around the doorknob when he wants out. Thank God he doesn't have thumbs. lol

OMG..i love your kitties! Are 2 crossed eyed here? My white/gray Simon is part Siamese and only 1 eye is crossed….so when he wakes up from a nap...you can totally tell. Ppl make fun of him….but he's just so dang cute, that makes him even cuter!

My cat doesn't show interest in my parrot, obviously because of the size of his beak and because he's much bigger and I get the feeling that Star likes the "bite size" type of bird instead. Her reaction is completely different when she sees the little finches outside. You can just tell she wants them BAD! :mwaha:

STORIE OF MY BABIES:
Maggie 9, tabby. We found her from a litter at my moms house…she was the cutest thing ever.

Smokey 8, we don’t know what he is. Groomer said he’s Angora? I found this lil guy at wk. he was the only one that would let you pick him up. So I kept him.

Simon 61/2, Siamese and domestic. he's my lil special one I have to say….they are all special but Simon..oh'boy! He's addicted to Clorox spells? He likes ice cubes in his water bowl….and will fall asleep on the side of the bowl I think the fumes of the ice its cool or he helps him breath…I’m guessing? LOL one day I know ill find is lil head in it? He used to fall asleep while eating his crunchy food. In the bowl! The other day he jumped on the stove TOP while I was cooking and the flame was on...he just jumped up and I think I scared him more yelling SIMONGETDOWNOHMAHGAWD all in one!!!! H he singed all his whiskers and eye brows...and chest hear. So I kept checking on him every 5 min thinking I’m rushing him to the vet for burns….but he was fine thought TNX GAWD...just looked like an old man for a couple days. LOL
So that’s my booooooy simon for ya haha ^..^

Willie 6, tabby. He belongs so my sister..and we had a vacancy and well he’s never left us..i should charge him rent!? He’s got narcolepsy! All he does he sleep and eat and back to sleep?

Lolo 9 months, tabby. Found him and his litter here at wk, and I had to keep him. He was the one his mom took to hide..and we found him 2 days later.

Samee 9 months, Australian Shepard. He’s a sweetie.

Nope..lol...the Mom cat was the domestic cat and the Daddy cat was a bobcat. She had my cat's dad..who is half bobcat and my Bobby ..that makes him 1/4 bobcat blood. You can't see it in the pic, but Bobby has a "bobcat" type tail and looks like one in the face. Plus he's HUGE.

Funny thing one morning I forgot to put some on his food and he stood there with this look on his face like "What, no milk for my cereal?" And just to clarify his coat is not shiny just because of the flash it's that way all the time. Well the flash enhances it a bit. I have had people ask me what I feed him and I tell them and they are like "WOW!! I am getting some for my dog(s)". His coat is pretty soft too for having a short coat. Shadow thanks you for the compliment ;)

Shadow doesn't have any allergies right now, but the last dog I owned had some awful allergies. She had flea bite dermititis (sp?) and she would get red and inflamed on her stomach and rear legs. I had her on several presciptions during the flea season. Poor dog had to get a bath twice a week during the summer months to alleviate the symptoms. There is another type of skin supplement....I can't think of the name right now, but it comes in pill form (basically the same formulation) and that works really well. There is also a powder type that is called Pet Tabs w/ FA <---fatty acids. Look around or talk with your Vet there are some really great products out there. :) What we won't do for our pets

You are so lucky that Shadows is not allergic like your previous one! I envy you! My dog gets allergies from all the plants and bushes we have in the area. I don't know exactly WHICH one is really causing it, but when I take him to the vet for his allergies the vet goes: "Ya know....we had at least 50 dogs coming because of allergies. It's the season!" My dog's allergies mainly tend to manifest with inflamed ears. He'll get some brown junk (eww) in it too and will shake his head violently. If I let him stay that way hoping that he'll get over it on his own, he'll scratch them so much they'll eventually BLEED and he'll cry from ear ache. So now the minute I see those coming back, I give him allergy pills that the vet prescribed for it (Atarax) and within a day or two, problems are gone! Now...sometimes he'll get a red belly and start chewing on his paws too. That happens in the spring and fall. Atarax also takes care of that too, but of course, during allergy season, he takes those pills almost daily. BUT...at least that means the vet won't have to give him a cortisone (steroid) shot, which is known to be internally damaging over time.

Poor dog had to get a bath twice a week during the summer months to alleviate the symptoms.

Doesn't his skin get more irritated though? I've tried to help my dog with a bath, but his skin gets even MORE irritated when he's having allergies, despite the fact that I use a very mild oatmeal shampoo. Weird how that happens, huh?

He'll get some brown junk (eww) in it too and will shake his head violently.

My dog had that too, Miss INXS..that's what is commonly known as ear mites. The brown junk is um..how can I say this nicely.. "waste" and built up ear wax from the offending mites which are tiny almost microscopic bugs. Next time this happens, clean his ears out gently with cotton and baby oil, then use an over the counter mite remedy or one from your vet..it should start clearing up in the next day or so.

Well, in my dog's case, they did a swab test to determine what was causing it and in his case it was a combo of yeast & bacterial. They said all even mites will give that brown nasty wax as the main symptom, but the treatment is different depending on the swab test findings. In any case, that's some nasty stuff! I usually tackle the problem from the start so it never gets to that point. The allergy pills will kill the problem within 1-2 days.

I've heard that you can give a dog Benadryl too, but you have to double check with your vet to make sure you give the appropriate amounts depending on your dog's weight, etc.

.. What we won't do for our pets

I know what you mean. After finding out about health problems caused by most of the popular dog foods, whether store bought, or Science Diet which is sold at vet offices, I switched to Blackwood or Eagle brand dog and cat food. (dry or canned) I know people who have had their dog die from kidney failure, or had their stomach and intestines torn up because of what's in that other food. The drug from euthanized horses was in the dog food, it doesn't go away, and can cause kidney failure. I had no idea horse meat was even in dog food, let alone the drugs in those horses still 'active'. yuck! (That's Purina, too, from what I hear.)
Science diet pays vets to sell their product, and they have all over the bag, "the choice of veternarians". They put peanut shells in it for filler, and it tore up a friend's dogs stomach. I doubt you'll see those ingredients on the bag, though.
I pay a bit more for the food, but it will save in health bills in the long run.

Vilji~ I've never heard of Eagle brand. Do you order it online?

Vilji
5-22-05, 02:43 PM
I can ask here at the pet store if you can buy it online. Most of the local pet stores are the only places I know of so far who sell it. But I haven't tried online. The lady who owns the petstore nearby is the one who stopped selling food like Iams, etc. because she's had pet health problems from all sorts of pet foods (with different pets over the years) and did lots of research into the matter. Eagle and Blackwood are all she carries right now, because the meat in it is pure, and no horse meat. No harmful fillers either. There are some other brands that are just as good, but I'm not familiar with them. My dog loves Blackwood, but doesn't over indulge in it.

Miss INXS, I'll check and see if anyone else knows of any online places for Eagle, etc. :)

I'm sure that's it, after looking at the website. I never really looked at the Eagle brand name or bag, since my dog's happy with the one she has. lol
but yeah, that should be it. It looks like high quality food, after reading about the meat in it.

I would have called the petshop and asked if that's the brand, but they're closed on Sunday. (like a lot of places in this town.) Mormons... (no offense to anyone)

I know what you are saying, but I saw a tv show on the Discovery channel, I think, anyway they were talking about how dog food basically has to go through a much more stringent test before it is allowed to be sold commercially. I do check the ingredients on the bag. I remember that they said something about that meat should be one of the main ingredients and not meat by-products. I never knew what that meant exactly until that show. It could be anything that is considered not "edible" for human consumption....like lungs, kidneys, intestines. :scared: I'm sorry, but if I don't eat it then my dog doesn't either. :ill:

I forgot about Penny's (my last dog :( ) ears. They would get red and inflamed with that brown, smelly discharge. She was on Prednisone as a last resort because it's an oral steroid and they have bad side effects. I thought she would be at risk for more irritation from the frequent bathing, but that shampoo was fairly mild and the vet said it wouldn't do her anymore harm than what her allergies were doing already. It was a prescription oatmeal shampoo that had sulfur in it and it had a pretty weird odor, but I could live with that as long as it helped her skin. I also gave her benadryl as directed by the vet and that helped, but it has a very "calming" effect and she would sleep for several hours after taking it I treid to give it to her at night so she could sleep. She was my "expensive" dog. She could easily run me a couple of hundred bucks with each trip to the vet.

We just got Honey about 2 or 3 weeks ago from a place called Adopt A Dog (www.adoptadog.org) - they are a great organization which rescues dogs from pounds where they will almost certainly be killed. We also got Buddy from the same place as well. :)

I've heard that pigs make GREAT pets and that they are also very smart. Have you taught Bob any tricks? Any funny stories to share? http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Pagan~ So sorry to hear about Freddy's passing. :( How old was he? Was he having problems before?

Thanx INXS...he died from - ironically - the same thing my Mom did, congestive heart failure. When I woke up Sunday he was trying to yak up a furball and couldn't, and then he was breathing hard. When I went over and pet him he peed all over the rug, then tried to walk and fell over. I took him to the vet and she said his liver was enlarged and he was full of fluid.

She said she could have done something to make him comfortable, but I knew that doing that wouldn't help him, it would ease my mind and just prolong the inevitable. I asked her what she'd do if it was her cat, and she just put her head down so I knew.

He was 16, so he had a long life. :(

This is him:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y103/KimJoy69/fredsquat.jpg

This is my other cat & had to put to sleep, Sambora...or Sammy as I always called him:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y103/KimJoy69/hey.jpg

These are the remaining three. This is Hobbes, my bud who I think is slightly retarded. He can't see a plastic bag, shopping bag, or pair of underwear without sticking his fool head through the hole.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y103/KimJoy69/bagcat.jpg

This is Jason, who came from the same litter as Freddy. He's the grey one in the pic:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y103/KimJoy69/jasontree.jpg

And finally this is Tico, the troublemaker. You can tell just by the look on his face:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y103/KimJoy69/metico.jpg

I'm fighting back the urge to get another kitten. The remaining three are 16, 14 and 12. I don't know how they'd take to new blood. I may wait until there's only one left and then get a kitten so they're not lonely.

Sucks to know that they're all older and I'll have to go through this shit three more times. :(

Awwwww Freddy was such a cute cat!!! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/wink.gif At least you still have Jason, who looks just like Freddy. Did Freddy & Jason have similar personalities too, being that they were from the same litter?

And LOL @ Hobbes. Does he like to lick plastic bags too? Sometimes I'll catch Star doing either that or -just like Hobbes - sticking her head through the bag's handles and then running around like she's drag racing with this insane look on her face. :mwaha:

Sambora had some interesting markings there! What a beautiful cat! Tico is a cutie as well.

Do you need to feed them a special diet right now? What do you feed them?
I feed mine Pro Plan low calorie (dry crunchers) and then 1 can of Fancy Feast/day.

Nope....they were as different as day and night. I gave all my cats their own voices based on their personalities. Freddy sounded like Wilfred Brimley, and Jason sounds like "Sol" from the Jerky Boys. Tico sounds like the Gremlin from Bugs Bunny, Hobbes sounds like Stimpy, and Sammy used to sound like Edward G. Robinson.

Hobbes hasn't licked bags yet, but he DOES lick packing tape...go figure? Like I said, I think he's mildly retarded!

Thank you, Sammy was VERY classic "cat" looking.

I've been feeding them Nutro Max Cat:

They love it and it's really good for them. Most of the owners I've talked to at cat shows use this brand. :)

LOL!!! Well...let's see, if I had to give Star a voice, I would have to pick Mr Bean, because she's not a vocal cat at all. You never really hear her meow. All you need to do to get her to purr is to LOOK at her. She LOVES to get attention, but she's not a lap cat. Then again, that's characteristic of British Shorthairs. They want attention on their own terms and don't make good lap cats. BUT...sometimes she'll jump on the bed and stay quietly right next to me.

Hobbes hasn't licked bags yet, but he DOES lick packing tape...go figure? Like I said, I think he's mildly retarded!

 Ahh so Hobbes hasn't graduated yet, huh? Well...wait till he discovers plastic bags. :sneaky:

Star has licked packing tape too! I don't know what's wrong with these felines. Maybe they are secretly hoping to get it stuck all over their faces! Now THAT would be a riot to watch!!!!

Oh yeah, I've heard that Nutro Max is excellent. I think that's what the breeder used to feed Star with. She'll eat any brand....she's such a pig!
I'll have to get her some for change of pace.

Are your cats declawed? Have you had a lot of furniture destroyed?

My previous cat would sharpen his claws all over the house! :uhoh: and he destroyed a lot of stuff. Now...Star is a prim and proper kitty, so she won't scratch ANYTHING except for her scratching post. I don't know how the breeder got her to only scratch the scratching post, but I am sooooo thankful for that. I really don't like the idea of declawing a cat, so I wouldn't have consider that option. But I tell ya....her claws are SO SHARP and curved that if they accidentally hit your skin, you get a deep mark! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/eek.gif

I am familiar with this! The corner of my couch has been scratched up. : I took on of those scratching posts and placed one on each end of the couch. That seems to deter them from that place. Now I have to watch because they claw the back top and the arms of the couch

I do keep their claws clipped down. That helps a good bit but they still insist on scratching things they should not.

No, none of them are. When I first got them, they didn't have the humane way of declawing yet so I wasn't about to have my boy's fingers amputated down to the first knuckle!

They did some damage when they were young, but as they got older, fatter and lazier it stopped!

Yeah, that's exactly the problem I had with Casey. Nothing would work. BUT...have you thought about buying one of those carpeted cat trees? Most cats love scratching on those. Maybe the cat tree will help them get it all out of their system. :mwaha:

I know, Pagan. I don't have the heart to declaw them either. Besides, cats that have been declawed tend to turn into biters. It amazes me that a cat like Star could have such sharp claws and yet never use them to scratch me or the dog. She's the gentlest cat I've ever seen...and normally puts up with quite a bit of bullying from the dog. :mwaha:

Oh and I failed to mention this earlier, but I think it would be a good idea to get yourself another kitten or two. That way they'll grow up and learn stuff from their elders. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/wink.gif

Saxon . talking about furniture getting ruined, I go down to the den a year ago and a cushion off the couch is chewwed to pieces, nothing like that had ever happened before, I started getting worried he was going to start destroying the house.. As it turns out the kids took a cushion off the couch and started pushing it into the dogs face and he started palying by biting the cushion and tearing it, once he destroyed it, the little angels (chainsaws with feet) took off , played dumb and let the dog take the blame .

At least once he got out of the puppy stage the desire to chew sneakers, tv remotes etc has disappeared

my cats haven't scratched on the furniture since I got the cat post that goes to the ceiling. They scratch on it all the time, and they love having the platforms to nap on. They love being up high.

Nuh uh! My remaining cats would NEVER tolerate a new kitten. Too old and set in their ways. I'm waiting until there's just one left, and then getting HIM a little brother. ;)

One way to stop cats from being biters and scratchers....when their kittens, rub their bellies, CONSTANTLY. They get so used to being touched all over that they get so docile it's hilarious. My boys, if you go to touch their stomachs, roll on their backs and stretch out as far as they can!

No not really... She is 9 years old and she has been train not to do anything in the apartment. She did pee once but in the lobby of the building. The Elavators are at good speed anyway. I am in the 19 floor in a 45 story apartment building.
