The interesting part is that the M-rated logo says must be 17+

Personally, it sounds to me like it's just a rating scale to keep minors away from Mature games and not a total ban! Now, I say let the parents decide what is "too Much" for kids. If I am interpreting this correctly, the law would more or less help parents in that decision.

Kind of Ironic though, considering who is GOVERNOR of California right now....look at all the violent movies he's done. (nothing against the governator, I liked his movies)

That's nothing too new around here... I had a guy tell me he got carded to buy a video game once  I almost did once myself at BestBuy... there was someone new there being trained. She's like "should I card him?" The guy training says "Nah... I think he's plenty old enough"

Goodbye youthful good looks! I treasured thee well in thy prime!:p

I do think they are going to far with this. Sometimes people want to blame someone, anyone, for the outrages that go on in our society. The problem that I see is they are not blaming the right people. I am confused as to why they are willing to blame the gaming industry when it is stated in this news article that the person who killed the cops was moved back and forth between family and the foster homes. That this person already had a troubled background, but had stayed out of trouble according to the news article until this video came along makes no sense to me. Why are they willing to blame a video game instead of foster care. Or the "supossed" bad parental up bringing that this individual has had. Why are they trying to sue "Wal-mart" and "Game Stop" for distributing the game legally? I just don't understand why people can't just blame the individual involved! Why can't this person just be bad for society? Why is it when some one does something so horrific that they have to be under mind control from a "comic book", "movie", or "video game"? And our parents were wondering what was happening to society back in the 80s through the early 90s. Apparently my generation, and the generation after me, has to much time on their hands to watch t.v. and play video games. I have way more questions than answers, but this definatly falls under the catagory of WTF!!!!

Just had to get my rant out! All of this is my opinion, of course. :thumb:

I agree with jaineytroll. They have, indeed, gone too far with this. According to this article, if their "theory" is correct, then many people, including myself, would've killed hundreds, maybe even thousands of people. It's true what they say, though. It takes one idiot to screw it up for the rest of us. :argh:

I was 'lucky' enough to experience something similar when I was a senior in HS. The principal was calling meetings left, right and center to 'educate' the parents about Satanism. Basically, if you were listeninig to heavy metal, you were a satanist. They even had information sheets on how to tell from the lyrics whether the song was satanic or not.

The way I see it, someone out there refuses to take responsibility and will blame it on some other evil. It's stupid and most of all it's dangerous. Because the real issues, whatever they may be, aren't addressed.

I agree with this. It seems the mantra of our society is "It's everyone's fault but my own". I know a lot of people aren't like that, but the ones who are sure give the rest of us a bad name.

I don't think playing a violent game is going to "teach" a child to be violent. Hell, I remember watching some violent shows when I was a kid, but I never thought about actually doing the things I saw on TV. I knew it was all acting.

What worries me more than any game, is the shows being labelled reality, that show hatefulness, back stabbing, bigotry, greed and shallowness daily as a "reality" for kids. We all know that stuff goes on in the real world, but these shows thrive on the worst aspects of human nature. Even though I think the people in these shows are cued to some degree, it's still being tagged "reality". In my opinion that's way more harmful for kids to view than a game :irked: ...children aren't stupid. Most of them know it's JUST a game. Call something a game, the child knows it's just that. Call something reality, what does the child think then?....just my opinion.
