A friend of mine recently sent me a DVD of nine of their songs live. It was wild to see them again after so many years. The DVD was in decent quality compared to some of the VHS stuff I have seen of them in the past. It also included Biographies of the band members, but no other extras.

Does anyone else remember them?

I do, I do!! Oh how cool! I haven't thought of the Dead Kennedys in ages! What fun they were. Thanks for reminding me Flixxy! Could you tell me more about the DVD? Like what it's called and where I might be able to find it??

Foxxy Foxx...who else would remember? ;)

The DVD is called "The Early Years Live". The nine live songs are recorded between 1978 and 1981. The songs are: California Uber Alles, Kill the Poor, Drug Me, The Man With the Dogs, Insight, Let's Lynch the Landlord, Bleed For Me, Holiday in Cambodia, and Viva Las Vegas. Go get it. It's great!!

the dead kennedys are so great....i remember listening to "Plastic Surgury Disasters" (i think that's the name of the album) while i was driving home from highschool. I got pulled over for speeding and told the cop it was the dead kennedys that made me go so fast! *lol* he must have bought it, i didn't get a ticket. :D

That album is actually out as a new remastered "2 in 1" album with In God We Trust Inc. Great buy! :)

I downloaded tons of their stuff off Napster before the controversy. Gotta love the Dead Kennedys.

I remember the Dead Kennedys. 2 songs anyway. They would be "Holiday in Cambodia" and "To Drunk To Fluck."

Every year when it gets time to discuss what to do for vacation, my husband will break into "Holiday in Cambodia". Gotta love it.

My favorite!! I love Holiday in Cambodia. Such a kick ass song. Anyone ever see them live?? My friend had a ton of live concerts on video. They were great. Jello would stage dive with all the teenage punks. He totally didn't care. True punkrocker, all the way.

Mindwarp - I haven't heard his spoken word in YEARS. I do remember thinking he was utterly insane, though. hehe :)

one of the handful of bands that defined the SoCal scene in the late 70's/early 80's (even though they were from the Bay area). definitely into "keepin it real".
