Yes Judee, I agree. The bird from Berlin was kinda cute too huh?
Actually the whole Top Gun Soundtrack is fantastic. No track skipping here! A brilliant example of mid '80's American music.

That song always used to make me cry. I loved it.

Weird how Berlin went from the song "Sex (Im a ....)" in the early 80's to "Take My Breath Away" in the late 80's. Talk about a change of sound!

In my book of #1 hits, Terri Nunn says that song ruined Berlin's career. It was so different from anything else they did but when it went to #1 people expected every song they did to sound like that.

Isn't that weird? It seems to happen all the time. Like David Bowie who think his worst albums are "Let's Dance" and "Tonight". Probably the last two chart-albums the man had, but he thinks they suck! I wonder if George Michael like his Wham stuff? hehe

It's a shame that an artist has to stick to a sound that doesn't allow them to move in another musical direction even for one album without hearing someone say "Oh man, So n'So has changed their music to a Jazzier style, I'm done listening to them!"

I think an artist should be able to experiment with other styles if they want, and without being pigeon holed for it.
I have an article from US Weekly magazine, Oct. 2000 that reads:
'Depite lineup changes, Nunn remained with the band until 1988, when she went solo and dueted with Sisters of Mercy'
"I wanted to go in the more experimental direction." she says.

The article says that Terry Nunn hooked back up with Berlin in 1996, and the band will record their next album by the end of the year (2000), but I haven't heard anything or read anything new about them.

I read, a while ago, that Berlin were shopping for a record contract. Looks like that never happened for them. Too bad - Would have liked to hear their sound today!
