: Another 80s Station Bits It for 90s/00s Negative Excuse for Music

: A Small Little Protest Statement

: Esp. If YOU've had a Local Station Change....etc.

: Well, my local 80s station has bit it for the New Music format for bands that have one name syllables. The Channel 104.9Fm,
: that is centered in San Jose, CA, has changed format to the crap music of today. I think the criticism of comparing it to
: Live105 was taken too much to heart. THat station is the New Music station for Alternative music now. Thing is, most of the listeners,I think,
: were talking about Live 105 the way it was 7-10 years ago.

: The Ad company that owns a sister station in SF changed that format to all 80s, and mostly expects people to switch to that
: station...Star 101. People in cars with sunglasses listening to it in happy states are shown in commericials for it. OF course,
: it's like listening to a 50s, or 60s-70s station but with 80s music with some dorky kind of DJs pretending to like music they
: know little about.(Well, it was a 50s,60s and 70s station before they changed the format.) Of course, we 80s crowd made
: fun of these stations because the old people listened to them. ANd yes, I know I'm old now....30s are not that bad. Have
: money, good job, live in an area where rent is 2500 for a one bedroom apartment is really my only problem.

: You know, if I had it my way, I'd make the station sound like the Hip, New Music station when the music was popular, 10
: years ago, but use 80s music. Heah, it's all about money, so I may have no say. And I still know I'm old. I don't have to have it
: rubbed in my face with tacky seques by DJs and morning people that bore me to death.

: But I have tried to be supportive of the Channel for 2 years now, thus I can easily take away support. It is available on the
: internet, so if all of a sudden you've been listening for the 80s songs, listen no more. They won't be there. The slogan is still
: there, "Music for the Rest of US", but the rest have left. LATER! Plus, on my Day of Decadence stories and reviews, the
: Website has been taken down for any protests, I know, I've tried. One is suppose to pop up soon. It also means, Day of
: Decadences in the future is highly mute.

: Again, a lot of people on this board have watched all the posts I've put up about this station, told people to listen to it.
: Recommended to the station when having done surveys and when called in to talk to top people in charge(Fans feedback session) for ideas: That they def. needed streaming for the station for people to listen on the internet.

: Since the station is owned by a company that is basically using it to sell advertising.....it's not hard for people to protest something that has been turned into a station that is not appealing for people over 25.
: Well, some will like it, but it's all 90s....and modern music that after 2 songs of only half of each song, I couldn't listen anymore. ONe was one song I kinda liked. There is something grainy about cords used through the last decade. As if the whiny discontent of nervana(that didn't live up to the band name), stuck with everything.
: Anyway, there is nowhere else better suited to start somekind of a protest. The station has taken down the website to make way for another.
: Calling the station works to grieve your wows...they do log them when a station changes over. (I know, I did intern at one, and it had a format change. Which actually changed back when people didn't like it as much.)
: So, if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and you are not happy with the change to The Channel 104.9Fm(and are already sick of Don Bleu in the morning on the Star and think it is a poor substitute...)
: ***Please call the station at Empire Broadcasting-408-453-5400.
: and tell them you are not happy with the Channel's new format and why!
: As soon as the website is up: please feel free to help support bringing back the ole' format.

: IT COULD BE YOUR 80s Station NEXT!

: I just called the station and left a message for the program director letting him know about the protest on the 80s Board.
: Help save a good 80s format....not the something our parents put up with format just to hear their music....
: IF you liked to send snail mail here is the station address:
: Program Director
: The Channel 1049Fm
: 1420 Cole Circle Suite A

****Program Managers Email:
Email is: gschoenwetter@channel1049.com

: Let's try to keep 80s formats from becoming something our parents put up with.....
