Do any of you use VONAGE (http://www.vonage.com/) as your phone service? Basically it's a phone service that uses the internet (via broadband) to make & recieve calls. Currently I'm paying $70+ for SBC local & MCI long distance. Vonage has an unlimited local call plan (http://www.vonage.com/products_premium.php) for only $24.99
I'm thinking of switching over to them. Does anyone use their service? Opinions are appreciated. Thank you.

:D

That's true, apparently you have to pay an extra fee ($2.95, I believe) for 911 access. There is actually a large lawsuit going on right now because a girl was unable to contact 911 after her father had a heart attack or something.

I've been thinking about getting it myself though, so if you do let us know how it works. I like the thought of unlimited long distance.

I have heard of Vonage. In fact a friend has it and when we talk on the phone, he had a hard time getting a connection. My phone rang but when I picked up, there was nothing. He had to call back about 6 times before finally getting a connection. I don't know if it was Vonage or the cable connection. This only happened once. Still for the price, you can't beat it. I do believe you have to purchase equipment in order to connect your phone. Unless they run some kind of special. I did not know about the 911. That is unfortunate. :(

Yes Kim,

I'm thinking of using Vonage for my home phone service. I'm currently using Verizon for my cell phone. :D

What's nice about using an internet phone is that I can plug it into any broadband connection, at anyone's home that has broadband, and get my phone calls there. :thumb:

By the way....thanks to everyone for their input. It is greatly appreciated!
