What's the best OMD single of their best period (1980 -83)?
Great early synth pop band who wrote unusual songs that didn't centre on love but historical figures, electricity and the Enola Gay. Unfortunately from '84 on they wrote dull records centred on love and gravitated up their own backsides.

REALLY tough choice, but i'll just tip for 'Maid Of Orleans' because the video had Neville's wife (from Auf Weidersehen Pet) playing Joan Of Arc! :bouncy:

Well Gazza, I plumped for the song enola Gay. An absolute Classic tune in my opinion. they were a good band in this period and I agree, their later stuff was definitely inferior compared to your list!

I absolutely adore OMD! In fact, they were my very first New Wave groups that I ever listened to. My friend Miranda's older sister had there cassette and was playing it one day when I was at their house (I was about 10 years of age) and I fell in love with their music. My top favorite song of their's is 'If You Leave'.

I have always liked "She's Leaving" in truth though I love anything of the Architecture and Morality CD.

With the exception of 'Forever Live And Die' I would agree with you Gazza, although I actually thought 'Talking Loud And Clear' had a very catchy synth vibe.

I think that the split of the original band in 1988/9 was the best thing that happened, because when the new 'Sugar Tax' album came out in 1991 it kicked butt! :thumb:

I have to vote for Maid of Orleans because it's such an atmospheric and really cool song

Out of this list I like electricity best. But my all time favourite OMD song as well as one of my all time favourite personally Top Ten songs is definatley Forever Live and die.

Electricity. It was one of the first songs I learned to play on my very 1st synth.

My vote was for Joan Of Arc which was the first song I heard by OMD. The only problem with this poll is that it is missing the song Tesla Girls. That is my favorite tune by these guys. And I was very fortunate to see them live when they toured with Power Station (minus Robert Palmer...RIP).
