Sadly they only had one top 40 hit here in the US with "Too Shy"...the only other song that charted was "Hang On Now" which went to. 78.

I picked "Turn Your Back On Me"...love it!

All I know is the one hit, so that's what I gotta go with... until I check out some of this other stuff... see if there's something better in there

I know it's declaring my ignorance of this band's work, but I had to go with "Too Shy".

Great song, though!

Turn your back on me, that is the one I choose. Nick Beggs is a much better singer than Limahl and better looking. :thumb:

One-Hit-Wonders down here in New Zealand (As a group). But "Too Shy" was my favourite song for ages when it came out here. It was a huge hit.

Oh yes he does. Ather the band fired Limahl, Nick took over singing. So if you listen to the song, Turn your back on me, you hear Nick Beggs. I've got the video to prove it.

This is what I copied from www.kajagoogoo.com :

Kajagoogoo continued with Nick Beggs as the lead vocalist. In 1984, to critical acclaim from the music industry, they released the album ‘Islands’. The US version of the album ‘Extra Play’ saw the band change it’s name to Kaja.

‘Islands’ marked a change in direction from a pop focus to a more mature, experimental approach. The band released three singles from ‘Islands’- 'Big Apple', 'The Lions Mouth' and 'Turn Your Back On Me' which reached number one in 12inch USA Dance Charts. Even though the album was not as commercially successful as ‘White Feathers’, it remains a favourite for many die-hard

I think you misunderstood him. He was mentioning another project Nick was involved in called "Ellis, Beggs and Howard"...he was a musician in the project and didn't sing. Nick's vocal ability is good but I prefer Limahl. Both albums without Limahl were (at least in the US) huge flops (neither of the two charted on the Top 200).

The above CD includes the song "Never Ending Story" by Limahl (Chris Hamill). Limahl led Kajagoogoo until late 1983. If you look at the word "Limahl", you'll see that Chris reversed the letters in his last name except for one 'L'.

I purchased The Best of Kajagoogoo and Limahl CD just as a lark to round out my 80's collection, and I have to admit I was surprised at the number of songs I liked. Especially "Turn Your Back On Me" - my choice in the poll. I didn't realize until reading this thread that it is Nick Beggs on lead vocal because he sounds very much like Limahl. It kind of makes me sad listening to the CD what might have been for this band had Limahl stayed....

I love Kajagoogoo.

My favorite songs by them would be a tough competition between

Whatever You Want from 1985
and
The Power to Forgive 1984

Jazzy, semi-dancy songs.
Whatever You Want is a rare B-Side to Shouldnt Do That.
It finally has been released on CD.
YAY!
