I don't know if anyone will remember Chequered Past as their lone album flopped, but here goes ...
British actor/singer Michael Des Barres gained fame in the popular 70's punk band Detective but he is of course best known as the unstoppable villain Murdoc on the TV series MacGyver. In 1983, he formed Chequered Past with Ex-Sex Pistol Steve Jones and their only album, which was self-titled was released in 1984

They toured part of 1984 with Duran Duran, but it wasn't enough to kick start the album's lead single How Much is Too Much? and the album eventually flopped. In 1985, Des Barres would replace Robert Palmer (who left the band abruptly just before they were to go on tour) as lead singer in The Power Station
The "New" Power Station guest starred on an episode of Miami Vice in 1985 and recorded the song We Fight For Love for the 1985 movie Commando before calling it quits in 1986
